Since I’ve already crossed over and men can get pregnant, it’s not that strange to end up in a book. Lu Youze quickly accepted this reality. He was even starting to admire his own psychological endurance.
Lu Youze adjusted to a more comfortable position, continuing to lie down. The hospital room was still empty. However, the door wasn’t fully closed, and Lu Youze could see several nurses gathered outside, glancing in his direction occasionally and whispering. Since they were a bit far away, and the nurses were mindful of their work, they lowered their voices intentionally. He couldn’t make out what they were discussing, but given the recent rumors about the original character and observing their expressions, it wasn’t hard to guess.
People tend to sympathize with the weak and victims. Yu Li had a face that made people want to protect him. Even if he did nothing, just standing there would make people want to offer him all the good things they had.
Wasn’t Lu Youze in the novel like this?
Even if Yu Li wanted the moon, Lu Youze would find a way to get it for him.
Unfortunately, he raised a thankless wolf.
Thinking of this, Lu Youze’s expression changed slightly.
He had grown up in an orphanage, alone, and didn’t mind wearing whatever. But acting was the only thing he truly enjoyed and was willing to stick to, no matter what.
However, according to the novel’s plot, his current situation was terrible.
His reputation was ruined, and he had been abandoned by everyone.
The worst-case scenario had already happened. Even if he knew the plot, he couldn’t just activate a cheat code.
This was the hellish start…
Just as Lu Youze was lamenting his difficult beginning, a loud knock echoed through the door, startling him.
Was someone finally here to visit him? Lu Youze quickly perked up.
“Come in.”
Before he even finished speaking, the door swung open. A man, about 24 or 25 years old, with a sunny and handsome appearance, stormed into the room.
He looked less like someone coming to visit a patient and more like someone coming to settle a score.
This person couldn’t also be part of Yu Li’s inner circle, could he?
“Lu Youze, are you an idiot?” The man stormed up to the bedside and immediately began yelling. “I told you that Yu Li is a thankless bastard, but you didn’t believe me! You went running to attend the same event as him just to see him, and now you’re happy, huh? Is it fun? Go see what everyone online is saying about you now!”
The man threw his phone onto the bed. Lu Youze knew very well what was being said online, but he didn’t want to look at those troublesome things for now. Compared to the online comments, he was more interested in the man in front of him. He seemed to hate Yu Li too? It was rare to see anyone who hated Yu Li in this situation.
As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend! Even if they weren’t friends, they could become allies. After all, this was someone who wasn’t deceived by Yu Li’s looks. For someone who knew nothing about this world and had lost all memory, this person seemed like a savior.
Lu Youze looked at the man, starting to think of ways to get useful information. Even an NPC providing information would be useful.
“Lu Youze, what’s wrong with you? Did you really get heartbroken and become this stupid? Can you stop looking at me like that? It’s scary.”
It seemed Lu Youze’s gaze was too intense, and the man got a bit scared.
Lu Youze wanted to know the man’s name and identity, so he decided to use the old, cliché, and effective method: pretending to have amnesia.
“Sorry, may I ask who you are? Are you my friend?”
For an actor like him, pretending to have amnesia was no challenge.
Hearing Lu Youze’s question, the man was momentarily at a loss for how to respond. After a while, he said, “Lu Youze, what are you doing? Last time, Yu Li messed with you, and you ended up drunk at a bar with a mistake in your belly. Now you’ve landed yourself in the hospital and pretended to have amnesia?”
The man’s words confirmed the fact that Lu Youze had crossed over into the book. Just like in the novel, the child in his belly was indeed a product of a one-night stand.
Lu Youze’s eyes were full of acting as he portrayed someone who suddenly lost their memory due to shock, doing it perfectly: “I’m really sorry, but I have no memory of what you’re talking about.”
“Really have amnesia?” The man approached Lu Youze’s bed, still not fully believing him. After all, Lu Youze was an actor with famous acting skills. What if he was faking amnesia to deceive him?
“I don’t know. When I woke up, my mind was blank,” Lu Youze said, knowing the man didn’t fully believe him. He acted even harder, “Actually, you’re the first person I saw when I woke up, but I can’t remember your name. I only know my name is Lu Youze, everything else is gone.”
Lu Youze grabbed the man’s arm, almost desperately, like a drowning person clutching a lifeline. “You’re the first person to come see me. Can you tell me, what is our relationship? Why am I in the hospital? Why hasn’t my family come to see me? Could it be… that I’m someone they really hate, and that’s why they don’t want to visit?”
His tone shifted from confusion to grievance, then sadness, and finally, even self-doubt, speaking cautiously. His emotions escalated, and it was impossible to tell he was faking.
“Don’t worry. Your father, Lu, is very healthy! And you’re not unpopular! If it weren’t for that Yu Li, you’d be a heartthrob.”
The man spoke, then hesitated, as if unsure whether to say more. Still not entirely believing Lu Youze’s amnesia, he tried one more time: “I’ll go ask the doctor! This hospital is ridiculous. We’re in the most expensive VIP room, but they leave patients alone in the room like this. It’s irresponsible!”
Before Lu Youze could respond, the man rushed out like the wind.
Lu Youze watched as the man disappeared, muttering to himself. He had hoped to learn more from him, but the man just left.
Since he was stuck in this strange world, there was no point in worrying about it.
However, ten minutes later, instead of the man, someone Lu Youze found truly annoying appeared—the one person whose name he knew in this world—Yu Li.
His ex, who had abandoned him.
