Yu Li was not alone; behind him was a group of reporters who had come after hearing the news. The fact that these reporters appeared so conveniently in this place made Lu Youze believe that someone must have tipped them off. As for who that person was, it was up to interpretation.
“Um…” Yu Li looked somewhat embarrassed as he glanced at the reporters behind him. “This is a hospital, and Youze’s health isn’t very good. I’m afraid he might get further distressed. Could you please give me some face and leave for now?”
Lu Youze couldn’t help but roll his eyes, thinking to himself, If the reporters leave, then who are you going to perform your gentle, little lamb act for?
The more Yu Li acted tender and nostalgic, the more people hated Lu Youze for being the scumbag he was.
Yu Li was playing the perfect role. Not only was he boosting his popularity, but he wasn’t giving Lu Youze a single chance to recover.
“Li Li, we don’t want to make things difficult for you. If you just answer a few questions, we’ll leave right away,” one of the reporters said.
The other reporters chimed in, agreeing.
“Fine,” Yu Li’s tone sounded somewhat wronged and helpless, as if he were forced to act this way just to prevent the reporters from disturbing Lu Youze. He gently reminded them again, “But I still hope you can speak quietly.”
Yu Li continued to play the role of a tender lover. This meant that before he transmigrated into this body, the original owner probably didn’t know that all of this misfortune was caused by Yu Li. Although it was inappropriate for the person who had taken over the body to think this way, it was perhaps a good thing that the original owner hadn’t learned the cruel truth and fallen into despair.
In any case, if this body still belonged to the original owner, they would have probably been led around by Yu Li, moved by him and allowing him to do as he pleased. Unfortunately, Yu Li’s calculations were off; the body had already been taken over.
Yu Li was truly a popular young actor. After less than five minutes of being outside, the hallway was surrounded, with reporters pressing in from all sides, and even the hospital security was involved. Nurses and patients screamed in excitement, drowning out the sound of Yu Li answering the reporters’ questions.
Lu Youze was actually listening intently to Yu Li’s answers outside the ward. As the saying goes, “Know yourself and your enemy, and you will never be defeated.” Without the memories of the original owner, he was already at a disadvantage and completely passive. So, he had to gather as much information as possible to deal with Yu Li’s next moves.
However, the next second, something unexpected happened.
With a loud crash, the previously ajar ward door was slammed open, followed by even louder and more chaotic screams and the flashing lights of cameras.
In the face of the flashbulbs, Lu Youze instinctively flashed a standard smile. He was always good at managing his expression.
But the next moment, he saw the man who had just rushed in and out punch Yu Li in the face. Amid the shocked screams of the crowd, the man dragged Yu Li into the ward and quickly locked the door behind them.
Lu Youze felt his head throb in pain. He could now confirm that this man was indeed his friend, and apparently, a very good friend, someone loyal enough to act without hesitation. But why did he have to be such a fool?
How could he hit someone in front of the cameras? This just gave Yu Li another opportunity to make a scene. In the end, it would only make things worse for him.
“Li Li, are you alright?”
“Gu Xuanhao, what are you doing to Yu Li?”
“Gu Xuanhao, I warn you not to mess around. If you hurt Li Li, we won’t let you off!”
The situation outside the ward had turned into total chaos. Lu Youze had to start thinking about how to handle the mess. He already had enough problems and didn’t want to be dragged into more. But clearly, this was going to be difficult.
But not everything was bad. At least he now knew the man’s name.
Gu Xuanhao, huh?
So, this was Gu Xuanhao.
Gu Xuanhao was a minor character in the novel, but Lu Youze remembered him well. He was the only person in the novel who wasn’t deceived by Yu Li. He had always been loyal to Lu Youze, but Lu Youze had stabbed him in the back for the sake of a woman. In the end, Gu Xuanhao became disillusioned and gave up on their friendship.
The author likely wrote this to mock him for betraying the fans’ devotion, cursing that he would end up like the character in the book.
If the fan who had written this knew that he had really transmigrated into this book and would end up just as badly as written, what would they feel? Lu Youze mused.
Sometimes, though, a little treasure can be found in a pile of garbage. At least he hadn’t fallen out with Gu Xuanhao yet.
This was his “trump card.”
Of course, his so-called trump card wasn’t Gu Xuanhao himself, but rather the powerful and somewhat overprotective older brother behind him.
“Shut up!” Gu Xuanhao was getting annoyed by the noise outside. He shouted at the door, “I won’t do anything to your precious little princess, but if you don’t shut up, I’ll have the bodyguards throw you out!”
Although Yu Li looked like someone who needed protection, he was actually an Alpha. Gu Xuanhao deliberately called him “little princess” to annoy him. Since Lu Youze had known Yu Li, he had only seen him act pitiful and innocent, then turn around and bite back. To Gu Xuanhao, Yu Li was worse than the Omegas who threw themselves at him. At least those Omegas openly admitted they were after his money.
Seeing Gu Xuanhao’s actions, Lu Youze sighed and rubbed his temples. His friend was truly a fool.
Saying all this in front of the reporters only helped Yu Li. Yu Li could now play the victim and gain sympathy from bystanders.
Gu Xuanhao’s powerful older brother was likely going to have a headache over this.
“Gu Xuanhao, don’t get too arrogant.” The people outside the door were also angered by Gu Xuanhao’s attitude. “I warn you, Li Li has people backing him up.”
“Don’t worry, Gu Ershao is a person of status, he won’t do anything rash to me,” Yu Li reassured his manager, “You all can leave now.”
“Li Li, we can’t leave you alone.” His manager, Zhang Jie, said with concern.
“Don’t worry, Gu Ershao is someone of importance. He won’t harm me.”
Lu Youze was still replaying the look Yu Li gave him earlier.
Tsk, that look was so full of emotion, it was enough to make anyone’s heart break. If it were the original owner, they would have probably fought to the death with Gu Xuanhao over Yu Li.
Now, Lu Youze understood why Gu Xuanhao had fallen out with the original owner.
Yu Li knew how to work people. If someone looked at you with such a gaze, even the hardest heart would soften.
Gu Xuanhao didn’t even glance at Yu Li again. He just walked over to the window and made a phone call. Not long after, the reporters outside were escorted out of the hospital, and the others were gradually sent away. The previously noisy hallway quickly quieted down.
