Chapter 108 : Identification Results
The DNA test results were out.
As soon as Lu Yunxiang received the results, she couldn’t help but smile broadly, feeling secretly pleased.
She took the report directly to the Lu Corporation.
Before entering the office, Lu Yunxiang put on a worried expression. “Dad, Brother, the DNA results are out, and it seems that Mu Qianqian… is not our sister.”
“How could that be?”
Lu Yunbei snatched the report from her.
He quickly flipped through the first few pages and went straight to the last page:
“Mu Qianqian and Lu Feng, no biological relationship confirmed.”
The sight of that line made Lu Yunbei’s pupils constrict instantly.
“How could this happen?”
“Let me see.”
Lu Feng came over and also saw the final conclusion.
“Could it be that she isn’t Yaoyao?”
Lu Yunbei shook his head. “Impossible. If there’s no blood relation, how could she look so much like Mom?”
Besides, every time he saw Mu Qianqian, he felt an inexplicable sense of closeness and familiarity.
As if they had known each other for a long time.
“Yes, Mom feels the same way. She is Yaoyao’s biological mother, so it’s unlikely she would mistake her.”
Lu Feng frowned, casting a suspicious glance at the report.
“Could the test results be wrong?”
Lu Yunxiang’s eyes flickered, worried that they might suspect her.
“Impossible. I had the servant collect used cups from Mu Qianqian and sent them directly to the testing agency. There was no intermediary involved, unless… you think the servant is untrustworthy?”
The Lu family’s servants had been employed for many years and were loyal, with no reason to betray them.
Moreover, what would be the benefit of tampering with the report for the servants?
The Lu family stared intently at the report.
At this point, no matter how much they wanted to believe otherwise, there seemed to be no other possibility.
After going to so much trouble to find a potential Yaoyao, only to end up with nothing.
“Alas…”
Lu Feng sighed with disappointment.
“How will we explain this to Mom?”
Had he known, he wouldn’t have told her about it.
It was his own fault for being too excited and not keeping his composure.
If Mrs. Lu found out that Mu Qianqian wasn’t their daughter, she would be so disappointed!
Lu Yunxiang hid her inner joy and feigned sympathy as she comforted them.
“Dad, Brother, don’t be too disheartened. I believe that our sister will be found one day.”
“Mu Qianqian looking like Mom is probably just a coincidence,”
“Next time we find someone who resembles our sister, let’s have her tested first. We can celebrate once the results are out.”
Lu Feng and Lu Yunbei were engulfed in deep disappointment and sadness.
Neither of them was in the mood to talk to Lu Yunxiang.
Lu Yunxiang quietly exited the office.
As soon as she was out the door, a burst of triumph appeared in her eyes.
The coffee cup sent for testing had been used by Ye Wanqing, and the DNA was Ye Wanqing’s!
How could Ye Wanqing have any blood relation to the Lu family?
That would be strange!
Moreover, she was smart enough not to deliver the items to the testing agency herself, but instead sent them through a trusted old servant of the Lu family.
This way, the Lu family wouldn’t suspect her.
She really was clever.
“Miss Lu.”
“Miss Lu.”
“Hello, Miss Lu.”
On her way out of the Lu Corporation, every employee greeted her with utmost respect.
This greatly satisfied Lu Yunxiang’s vanity.
Being a wealthy daughter is so delightful—no worries about food and clothing, luxury items available at will.
Most importantly, she could always remain exalted, receiving admiration and respect from everyone.
None of this could be taken away by Mu Qianqian!
There could only be one daughter of the Lu family, and it had to be her!
—
Lu Yunbei, feeling disheartened, left the company.
Distracted, he drove aimlessly until he realized he had arrived at the entrance of the Finance University.
Since he was already here, why not take a look?
Lu Yunbei, lost in thought, got out of the car and walked into the university.
He spotted Mu Qianqian on campus.
“Qianqian.”
Without thinking, Lu Yunbei instinctively called out to her.
“Ah? Mr. Lu?”
Mu Qianqian recognized his voice.
Lu Yunbei gave a wry smile, “Could you not call me that?”
Mu Qianqian recalled their previous conversation.
But in front of so many classmates, calling a stranger “brother” felt awkward.
Lu Yunbei shifted the topic, “Were you chatting with friends just now?”
“Yes, with winter break approaching, my friends and I are looking for internships.”
The job market pressure is quite high right now. At Finance University, many students start interning as early as their first year.
However, Mu Qianqian’s eyes haven’t fully recovered yet, so she might not find many opportunities.
Lu Yunbei said without thinking, “We have positions available at our company. Would you and your friends be interested in coming over?”
Even though Lu Yunbei now knew that Mu Qianqian wasn’t his sister, he still couldn’t help wanting to help her and be kind to her.
Perhaps, this was fate at work.
“The Lu Corporation? You mean, you’re offering us a chance to join Lu Corporation?”
Mu Qianqian’s breathing grew rapid.
This was a top-tier company, and besides the unreachable Fu Corporation, Lu Corporation was one of the best places to work.
Even graduates from their school rarely get a chance to join Lu Corporation directly.
“Yes, I can arrange for you to start directly at the headquarters.”
Fang Yanran and Li Siyu’s eyes widened with excitement.
“Qianqian, pinch me. I must be dreaming, right?”
“We freshmen are actually getting an internship opportunity at Lu Corporation’s headquarters?!”
Their loud conversation drew the attention of other students.
“These girls are dreaming, right? They’re in their first year and already thinking about Lu Corporation’s headquarters?”
“Does she think Lu Corporation is her family business? Even Ph.D. students from our school can’t get in. How could a first-year student possibly get in?”
“What’s the point of getting in? To be a janitor or a security guard, hahaha.”
Mu Qianqian was used to such derogatory comments.
She didn’t care at all.
She excitedly asked, “Can we report to Lu Corporation right after the winter break? Can I go too?”
“Of course. If you mention my name, someone will arrange for you to join the appropriate department.”
“That’s great. Thank you so much.”
Lu Yunbei wanted to hear her call him “brother.”
But this wasn’t the right setting for it.
He could only wait for the next time.
After all, Mu Qianqian would be joining Lu Corporation, and there would be plenty of chances to meet in the future.
“Looking forward to seeing you at the company.”
With that, Lu Yunbei turned and left.
As Lu Yunbei was about to leave Finance University, he received a message from Ye Wanqing.
“I’ve got the DNA test results on my end. Do you want to see them?”
