Chapter 123: Capturing the Mu Family
Fu Sichan asked, “Do you remember the dream you had?”
Mu Qianqian’s face was filled with confusion.
“What dream, Mr? I don’t remember.”
“When you first came to Mingyuan, you had a fever one day and said you had a nightmare about someone trying to take you away as a child bride.”
Hearing this, Mu Qianqian started to recall.
“I remember now! I did have a nightmare, and it felt so real that I almost thought it had really happened.”
Why did that village in the dream seem so familiar?
It was almost like Mu’s family’s hometown?
Mu Qianqian’s eyes widened in surprise.
Fu Sichan, who previously didn’t know her background, thought it was just a nightmare. But now that he knew Mu Qianqian was actually the lost daughter of the Lu family, the dream seemed very peculiar.
Could this be the process of the little girl being kidnapped?
“Can you remember any more details?”
Mu Qianqian held her head, trying hard to recall.
“I can’t remember, Mr.… I seem to have forgotten everything.”
The little girl was so anxious she almost cried.
Fu Sichan patted her back. “If you can’t remember, don’t force it. Just get some rest.”
Mu Qianqian nodded, feeling confused, and went to bed.
Fu Sichan went to the balcony and called his assistant.
“Find out where Mu’s family’s hometown is and investigate how Mu Qianqian arrived at the Mu family fifteen years ago.”
“Got it!”
Mu’s family’s hometown was in a remote mountain area, difficult for others to locate. But by checking their registered address and using phone tracking, it was relatively easy to find.
…
Soon, Fu Sichan received the information from Assistant Wang.
“Mr. Fu, here’s the information on Mu’s family’s hometown. We also found some clues about the Madam’s origins.”
“Oh?”
“Mu’s family was originally poor and lived in a remote mountainous area. Later, Mu Chenggong became close with someone from the same village, who took him away from the mountains. Mu Chenggong then made some capital and opened a restaurant in the county town.”
“That person was called Old Ba and used to be a gardener at the Lu family.”
A cold glint flashed in Fu Sichan’s eyes.
“The Lu family…”
Everything now fell into place.
Mu Chenggong and that gardener must have kidnapped the Lu family’s youngest daughter to sell her.
But since they couldn’t sell her, they adopted her, waiting for her to grow up so they could ask for a bride price.
“It seems my punishment for Mu’s family is still far from enough.”
Fu Sichan’s eyes were filled with a bloodthirsty light.
Compared to the crimes Mu’s family had committed, just sealing their restaurant was far from sufficient!
“What about their current whereabouts?”
Fu Sichan’s voice was cold and chilling, as if it came from a hellish enforcer.
“Mr. Fu, the Mu family has all hidden back in their hometown. It seems they know they’ve angered the wrong people and are trying to lay low now.”
“Now they’re scared? It’s too late!”
Fu Sichan’s ruthless remark made Assistant Wang’s heart shiver.
The boss was truly angry this time. It seemed the Mu family was in for a rough time.
“Dig up all their secrets. And deal with that Old Ba as well.”
“Understood!”
Fu Sichan was determined to eradicate the malignancy of the Mu family and unearth every detail of the past, exposing it to the world.
If his little girl wished to return to the Lu family and acknowledge her roots, so be it.
If she did not wish to, no one would force her!
…
Mu’s hometown.
“Old Mu, didn’t you go to the county to live a better life? Why are you back?”
The villagers sneered with ill intentions.
“What’s it to you?”
Mu Chenggong sat by the tree roots, smoking a water pipe, his face looking very grim.
Since returning to the village, he had been mocked and ridiculed by the villagers.
He had once been the most successful person in the village and thought he could make a name for himself in the county, but he ended up fleeing back in disgrace!
He would remember this humiliation forever!
“Hey, where’s that girl of yours? Why are only the four of you back?”
“What’s it to you?”
“That girl was brought from outside by you and Old Ba, wasn’t she? Since she’s just a useless girl, why not give her to my son as a wife, hehe.”
“Dream on!”
Mu Chenggong stood up and headed towards his house.
He might not be able to afford to confront them, but he could still avoid them.
Behind him, the villagers’ taunts followed “Tch, still pretending? You think you’re so great? Can’t even make it in the county, how embarrassing!”
“Yeah, definitely caused trouble outside, that’s why they’re hiding back in the hometown.”
“His eldest son is a mess too, haven’t you heard? Always throwing plates and smashing bowls at home. How can they live like this?”
Mu Chenggong’s face turned dark, and he almost wanted to run over and kill them all.
As he reached his front door, a cacophony of noise erupted from inside.
“How can you parents be so useless! I don’t want to stay here, I want to go back to the county! There’s no internet here, what’s the point of living?”
“I want to buy limited edition sneakers! I want to show off to my classmates. I don’t want to be a villager with these country bumpkins!”
The two sons, one older and one younger, were almost tearing the house apart.
Mu Chenggong burst into the house and slapped each of them hard.
“Why are you shouting? If you don’t want to live here, get lost! Go feed the wolves in the mountains!”
The eldest son, Mu Chenghui, lay on the bed with a pale face.
The youngest, Mu Chengyao, was throwing a tantrum on the floor.
“I don’t care! Why should that Mu Qianqian have a good life while I’m stuck here? I want to live well too! Get me back to the county immediately! I don’t want to stay in the village, my classmates will definitely laugh at me.”
“Classmates? You don’t even have a school record anymore. Don’t think about going to school in the future!”
Mu’s father added fuel to the fire.
Mu Chengyao roared in anger.
The family was in disarray, like a pigsty, and life was unbearable.
The Mu couple arrived in their rundown courtyard.
Mu Mother couldn’t stop wiping her tears. “Head of the family, you need to think of a solution. Chenghui is about to get married, and Chengyao doesn’t even have a chance to go to school. How long are we going to hide in the mountains? When will we get out?”
“What’s the rush? Let’s get through this situation first.”
“Can we even escape? What if that incident from years ago is uncovered?”
Mu Mother was trembling with fear.
Mu Father said harshly, “There’s no way it will be discovered! It’s been over a decade, who remembers? As long as you don’t say anything and I don’t say anything, no one will uncover our crime!”
Hearing this, Mu Mother’s heart finally eased.
“If it can’t be discovered, then we should lay low and wait for things to calm down before leaving the village.”
A loud “bang” echoed
The wooden door of the Mu house was kicked open from the outside.
A group of black-clad men stormed into the Mu house, capturing all four members of the Mu family.
The Mu family cried out desperately.
“Who are you? Why are you arresting us? Let us go immediately!”
“Arresting people in broad daylight, where is the justice in that?”
