Chapter 13 : Do you think I’m ugly?
Fu Sichan watched her retreating figure and suddenly felt a tightening in his lower abdomen at the words she had just spoken.
He had been celibate for years and had never experienced such a sensation before.
Fu Sichan loosened his tie and downed most of a glass of cold water to suppress the unsettling feeling.
After Mu Qianqian recovered from her illness, she told Fu Sichan that she wanted to return to school.
“I’m worried that if I stay away too long, I’ll fall behind in my classes.”
The University of Finance and Economics is one of the top institutions in the country, and the coursework is quite challenging. If she continued to miss classes, she might end up failing several subjects by the end of the semester.
“Are you sure you can go to class? I still heard you coughing earlier.”
Mu Qianqian’s throat itched, but she refrained from coughing. “I’m able to manage on my own now, so attending classes should be fine.”
Seeing her insistence, Fu Sichan nodded, “If you want to go, then go.”
The University of Finance and Economics was right next to where they were living, making it very convenient for Mu Qianqian to attend classes.
“Should I move back to the dormitory?” Mu Qianqian asked.
Fu Sichan smirked and replied nonchalantly, “Does Mrs. Fu want me to come back to an empty house every day?”
Mu Qianqian blushed and quickly denied, “No, that’s not what I meant.”
After denying it, she felt she had been too forward and looked indiscreet.
The young woman bit her rosy lips, her face showing her inner turmoil.
Seeing this, Fu Sichan couldn’t help but reach out and ruffle the top of her fluffy, soft hair.
This action surprised even him.
He cleared his throat and said, “I have work at the company, so I’ll head back now.”
“Okay,” Mu Qianqian replied obediently with a nod.
For the past few days, Fu Sichan had been staying in Mingyuan Community, and every morning when Mu Qianqian opened her eyes, she could tell he was in the living room working.
She didn’t dare to disturb him and would quietly bring him a glass of water and set it next to him.
With his sudden departure, the house fell into a quiet that Mu Qianqian wasn’t quite used to.
However, she didn’t have much time to gather her thoughts.
Since Mr. Fu had agreed to let her return to school, she needed to start preparing for her classes immediately.
Despite still being sick, Mu Qianqian went out wearing a mask. Since her eyes were sensitive to bright light, Fu Sichan had someone prepare a pair of sunglasses for her, which covered most of her face.
Her appearance in the classroom drew quite a bit of attention and gossip.
“Who is this person? I’ve never seen her before. Is there someone like this in our class?”
“Wearing sunglasses and a mask on such a hot day, does she think she’s a big star or something?”
“Pfft, what a show-off.”
Mu Qianqian sat in the last row, feeling very uncomfortable as she overheard the remarks.
It wasn’t until the roll call during class that everyone learned her name was Mu Qianqian.
“So she’s Mu Qianqian, the one who didn’t show up for registration or participate in military training, thanks to her connections.”
“She hasn’t been to class for so many days, yet the school still kept her enrollment. She must have some connections.”
“Why is she covering her face and eyes? Could it be that she’s too ugly to show her face? Hahaha.”
A girl sitting next to Mu Qianqian, who happened to be her roommate, Fang Yanran, had a bold and straightforward personality. Seeing Mu Qianqian as such a gentle and well-behaved girl, Fang Yanran felt a protective urge. “Qianqian, don’t pay attention to what they’re saying. I know you’re not here because of connections. You just had an accident and were injured, which is why you missed classes.”
She assumed that Mu Qianqian was wearing the mask because of facial injuries from the accident, and was thus embarrassed to show her true face.
In reality, Mu Qianqian was simply trying to avoid spreading her cold to others.
Mu Qianqian sincerely thanked her, “Cough, thank you.”
Fang Yanran responded warmly, “No need to thank me. If there’s anything you don’t understand from the classes you missed, feel free to ask me anytime.”
After class, Mu Qianqian stood under the shade of a tree, using her white cane while waiting.
“Who are you waiting for?” Fang Yanran asked.
“I’m waiting for… a relative,” Mu Qianqian said, not revealing that she was waiting for her husband.
After all, she was still a college student, and it was relatively rare for someone who had just started university to be married. She didn’t want to stand out too much.
Fang Yanran, feeling concerned, said, “I’ll stay with you. I’ll leave once someone comes to pick you up.”
Although Fu Sichan had said he would send Assistant Wang to pick her up, he ended up coming himself.
“Qianqian.” Fu Sichan stood in front of her, his voice cold and deep.
“Mr. you’re here.” Mu Qianqian smiled and her voice unconsciously took on a hint of warmth.
As soon as Fu Sichan appeared, Fang Yanran seemed frozen in place, staring at him motionlessly.
Mu Qianqian thought Fang Yanran was shocked by her Mr.’s appearance and quickly whispered to her, “Although he is a little ugly, he’s a good person. You don’t need to be afraid.”
When Fu Sichan heard her comment, he couldn’t help but twitch his mouth in disbelief.
Forget it, he wouldn’t argue with a little blind girl.
Fang Yanran’s mouth fell open, as if she could fit an egg inside. She blinked, wondering if she had heard incorrectly.
Ugly?
Mu Qianqian actually said that the man in front of her was ugly?
Did she even have any sense of aesthetics?
The man in front of her was more handsome than any celebrity she had seen on screen! With such good looks and noble demeanor, it was astonishing that he could be called ugly. It seemed Mu Qianqian’s taste in aesthetics was indeed quite different from most people’s.
Fang Yanran gave a couple of awkward laughs, “Heh heh, since the person here to pick you up has arrived, I’ll be going now.”
Mu Qianqian waved sweetly at her, “Okay, Yanran, goodbye.”
Once Fang Yanran had left, Mu Qianqian continued to watch her departing figure.
For some reason, a vague sense of displeasure rose within Fu Sichan. He gripped her chin and forcefully turned her face to face him.
His expression was frosty, and his tone was cool as he said, “Now that she’s gone, what are you still looking at?”
“She’s the first friend I’ve made in college.”
Li Siyu didn’t know she had returned to classes, and since she and Li Siyu weren’t in the same major, it was hard to run into her during classes.
It was fortunate to have Fang Yanran as a friend; otherwise, she would be left all alone.
Fu Sichan firmly grasped her wrist, “Come with me.”
Mu Qianqian was worried about being seen and gently tried to pull away but couldn’t break free from his firm grip.
Fu Sichan teased her, “What’s this? Do you think I’m too ugly to be seen with you?”
Mu Qianqian quickly protested, “No, I’m not saying that at all. Mr. I just think it’s not appropriate since I’m still a student.”
“What’s inappropriate about it? You’re an adult now, it’s not like it’s a case of early romance.”
Hearing this, Mu Qianqian thought, right, she was already an adult who said adults couldn’t be seen with men?
So she stopped struggling and allowed Fu Sichan to lead her home.
