Chapter 14 : Mr.’s Embrace
That night, Mu Qianqian developed a fever in the middle of the night.
Fu Sichan was still handling work matters. He had to handle such a large Fu Group by himself, and there were many things he needed to worry about.
Hearing a faint moan coming from the spare bedroom, he walked to the door and knocked, “Qianqian?”
Mu Qianqian was deep in a nightmare, her face pale and devoid of color, and beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
She clutched the blanket and trembled, “Go away, you all go away, where are you taking me?”
Hearing the fragmented sounds, Fu Sichan felt a pang of worry and pushed open the door.
Mu Qianqian seemed to be trapped in her nightmare, writhing on the bed as if she were drowning.
“No, I won’t go to this house, this isn’t my home.”
“Qianqian, Qianqian…” Fu Sichan grasped her shoulders and shook her gently.
She still didn’t wake up.
Fu Sichan placed his hand on her forehead, it was burning hot.
“How can she have a fever again?”
This little blind girl was truly fragile, even a common cold had lasted so long without improvement.
It was late, so Fu Sichan didn’t call the family doctor to come over again.
He was a double PhD in Finance and Law, and with years of education, he had basic medical knowledge.
Fu Sichan did what he had done last time, wrapping ice cubes in a towel to help lower her temperature.
When her fever didn’t subside, he could only use a warm towel to wipe her body.
But since Fu Sichan had never cared for someone before, his movements were somewhat rough, reddening her tender skin.
He noticed a red, butterfly-shaped birthmark near her shoulder blade.
The young girl was already frail, and her thin shoulder blades resembled a butterfly ready to take flight, complementing the beautiful birthmark.
“Don’t come closer, please let me go, I want to go home, I want my mom and dad…”
Mu Qianqian cried unconsciously, her voice filled with a deep, heart-wrenching sob that made one’s heart ache.
Fu Sichan cared for her through most of the night, finally managing to bring her temperature down.
The next morning, when Mu Qianqian woke up, she found Fu Sichan sleeping at the edge of her bed.
“Mr. why did you fall asleep here?”
Fu Sichan woke up, looking exhausted.
He had been busy all night, only resting in the early hours of the morning, and had fallen asleep right by her bed.
Fu Sichan rubbed his sore temples, his voice hoarse from just waking up, sounding both sexy and pleasant, “Did you have a nightmare last night?”
Mu Qianqian clutched the blanket tightly, “Yes, I dreamed of something very frightening.”
“What was it about?”
“I dreamed that someone wanted to abduct me and take me to a village, saying they wanted me to be a child bride.”
The dream felt so real, as if it had actually happened.
Mu Qianqian felt trapped in her small body, trying to escape but unable to, only to receive repeated beatings.
She quickly shook her head, trying to clear these terrifying scenes from her mind.
Fu Sichan’s expression turned serious upon hearing this.
How could such a nightmare occur for no reason?
Mu Qianqian felt much better now, “Mr. were you the one taking care of me last night?”
Although she was trapped in the nightmare, she still had some vague awareness. She remembered someone patiently washing her body over and over, using ice packs to cool her down repeatedly.
No one had ever been this kind to her before.
It felt as though her heart had melted open, warm affection flowing through it.
She silently thanked him in her heart, “Mr. thank you.”
In the morning, Aunt Liu came to prepare breakfast.
As soon as she tied on her apron, she noticed the red marks on Mu Qianqian’s neck and collarbone.
Combined with the fact that Fu Sichan had emerged from the spare bedroom earlier… Aunt Liu suddenly understood and displayed an ambiguous smile.
Mu Qianqian sat at the dining table and wondered, “Aunt Liu, why did you make so many dishes today? And even cooked chicken soup.”
This spread was quite lavish.
Aunt Liu smiled warmly, “I was worried you were tired last night, so I prepared a lot of food to help you replenish your strength.”
Mu Qianqian tilted her head, “I didn’t feel tired yesterday, but Mr. must have been exhausted.”
She wanted to serve a bowl of chicken soup for Fu Sichan, but he directly took the spoon from her hand.
“If you can’t see, don’t move around randomly. Be careful not to burn yourself.”
Fu Sichan’s voice was somewhat cold, with a metallic edge that made it sound a bit stern.
But Mu Qianqian knew he was caring for her, so she obediently sat back in her seat, “Okay.”
Aunt Liu covered her mouth, her face beaming with a knowing smile.
Fu Sichan guessed that she must have misunderstood, so he told her to go next door for now and he would come by later to clean up.
“Well, I won’t disturb you two any longer,” Aunt Liu tactfully said as she withdrew.
Mu Qianqian, with her innocent and naive nature, didn’t understand what was happening.
“Why, did Aunt Liu disturb us?”
“Just eat your meal.” Fu Sichan, with a stern face, placed a bowl of ginseng chicken soup in front of her.
Mu Qianqian pushed the bowl back towards him, saying earnestly, “Mr. you were exhausted last night. You should drink more.”
Fu Sichan’s face darkened.
This silly girl still didn’t realize how easily her words could be misunderstood.
Moreover, he exercised regularly and had a strong physique. He didn’t need to drink nourishing soup.
On the other hand… Fu Sichan glanced at her thin arms and legs, worrying she might not withstand much strain.
Fu Sichan commanded coldly, “Eat more vegetables.”
“Okay.”
“Is that all you’re going to eat?” Seeing her small portion, Fu Sichan frowned.
No wonder she hadn’t gained any weight after all this time.
She ate so little, even a cat would eat more.
Mu Qianqian patted her round stomach, “I really can’t eat anymore.”
“Have a couple more bites.”
Fu Sichan picked up a shrimp and held it to her mouth.
His tone carried the authority of someone in charge, with a commanding edge.
Mu Qianqian, looking pitiable, opened her mouth and ate two more shrimp.
She really couldn’t eat any more.
Finally, Fu Sichan stopped forcing her to eat, “Go to class. Take the red date milk that Aunt Liu prepared for you.”
“Okay, I remember that.”
Mu Qianqian took her white cane and left the house.
Fu Sichan followed her out, and when they reached the elevator, he instinctively helped her inside.
As a crowd of people entered the elevator, Fu Sichan’s brows furrowed, his presence becoming even more imposing.
The CEO usually traveled by private jet and car, and his company had an elevator exclusively for the president. When did he ever need to squeeze into an elevator with others?
Moreover, he was naturally a neat freak and didn’t like crowded places.
In the chaos, someone accidentally stepped on Mu Qianqian’s foot, and she let out a small “ouch.”
Seeing the young girl squeezed into a corner, holding her cane with a look of confusion and panic, like a small animal trapped in the jungle.
Fu Sichan, rarely softening, reached out with his long arm and pulled her into his embrace to protect her.
Mu Qianqian unexpectedly bumped into his broad and solid chest, her nose filled with the fresh, pleasant scent of sandalwood from him.
She instinctively nuzzled against him.
Even though Mr. Fu appeared cold and distant, his embrace was indeed very warm.
