Chapter 169 : Pregnant
Lu Yunyao ordered a large table of dishes, but in the end, she could only manage to eat a small portion.
“Mr, there’s so much food, it would be a waste if we don’t finish it. Could you help me eat some?”
As soon as Fu Sichan saw the bubbling red oil in the pot, his brows furrowed tightly.
“No.”
He wasn’t going to eat this kind of food.
For a rich young master who had been raised in luxury, hot pot was essentially junk food in his eyes.
After all, with its excess oil, salt, and spice, and the fact that it wasn’t elegant or decent to eat, it didn’t appeal to him.
Lu Yunyao dragged out her voice, coquettishly pleading.
“Mr, please help me eat it. We can’t waste food.”
“If we have a baby in the future, are we going to teach him to waste food? Of course not, so we need to set a good example! Be a good role model for the baby!”
“Mr, I believe you can finish it!”
Fu Sichan was at his wit’s end with her persistence. He couldn’t refuse, but…
“I have a condition.”
Lu Yunyao, with innocent curiosity, asked, “What condition?”
Fu Sichan leaned down and whispered something in her ear.
The brief statement made Lu Yunyao’s face turn beet red.
She bit her lower lip, her cheeks flushed and hot.
“Mr, you’re so bad!”
“Well? Do we have a deal?”
Fu Sichan watched her with a leisurely expression, enjoying the sight of her mixed feelings of shyness and annoyance.
Even though they had been married for a long time and had done many things together, she was still this shy every time.
It made him want to tease her.
Lu Yunyao hesitated, weighing whether she should agree to this deal for the sake of finishing the meal.
Fu Sichan tapped the table. “Who was just saying we need to set a good example for the baby?”
Mentioning the baby left Lu Yunyao without a counter-argument.
“Alright, I’ll agree. But, it has to be less than two times.”
Fu Sichan graciously accepted, “Deal.”
Under Lu Yunyao’s resentful gaze, Fu Sichan tried this food he had never eaten before for the first time.
The taste of the hot pot was simply too strong.
After tasting a bite, he found it unbearable on his tongue.
Fu Sichan called the waiter and had the red broth pot replaced with a clear broth pot, which made him feel much more comfortable.
…
After dinner, back at home, Fu Sichan called the family doctor.
As soon as the doctor heard there was an overtime opportunity, he quickly put on his shoes and rushed over.
After all, it was a five-figure bonus. He was in!
Even if it hailed or if he had to get up in the middle of the night, he would still be willing!
“Mr. Fu, do you have any discomfort?”
Fu Sichan lifted his chin and gestured towards Lu Yunyao.
“Check on my wife.”
Lu Yunyao shook her head. “I’m not feeling unwell anywhere, Mr.”
She felt perfectly fine, able to jump and play, and didn’t need to see a doctor at all.
“You haven’t had much of an appetite recently. Let the doctor check you out.”
Lu Yunyao couldn’t help but laugh and cry. “It’s just a minor issue, there’s no need for a special check-up. It might just be that the weather is getting warmer, so I’ve lost my appetite.”
The doctor looked around, unsure what to do.
“Mr. Fu, should I examine her or not?”
“Examine her.”
Under Fu Sichan’s insistence, the doctor began to examine Lu Yunyao.
They went through all the usual procedures, inspection, listening, questioning, and palpation.
The doctor’s expression grew more serious.
Fu Sichan’s anxiety also increased.
“Are you saying that you’ve been unusually sleepy, have poor appetite, and are prone to nausea?”
Lu Yunyao nodded. “Yes, a little, but the symptoms aren’t severe.”
If it hadn’t been for Mr. calling the doctor, she wouldn’t have even noticed these minor issues.
Fu Sichan couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong with her? Is it something serious?”
“I need to take a closer look.”
When the doctor said this, Fu Sichan’s expression changed.
A closer look?
Was the little girl seriously ill?
Fu Sichan understood medicine and knew that many serious illnesses initially present as minor symptoms.
Ignoring these small problems could lead to very severe consequences.
Could the little girl be seriously ill?
Fu Sichan felt a pang of panic in his heart, something he had never experienced before.
Even when making major decisions at the company, he had never felt this way.
Even when facing risks worth billions, he would not blink when signing documents.
But this time, he felt a genuine fear from the bottom of his heart.
Fear of what? Fear of losing the little girl?
The doctor finally delivered the diagnosis.
“Mr. Fu, it seems your wife is pregnant.”
Fu Sichan was stunned and instinctively asked, “What did you say? What illness is ‘pregnancy’?”
The great CEO Fu asked the most foolish question of his life.
Lu Yunyao, however, was the first to react. “I’m pregnant?”
The doctor nodded. “Based on the pulse, yes. You should visit the hospital for further examination when you have the time.”
Fu Sichan remained in shock, not quite grasping the situation.
Lu Yunyao, on the other hand, was overjoyed, her face lighting up with happiness.
“Mr, I’m pregnant! We’re going to have a baby! This is wonderful!”
She had just been worried about not being able to conceive, and now she found out she was pregnant.
Heaven had been so kind to her.
Could it be that from now on, everything she wishes for will come true?
Fu Sichan slowly emerged from his shock, gripping his fists and asking incredulously
“Am I going to have a child?”
“Yes, Mr. Fu. Normally, your body isn’t very conducive to pregnancy, but many things can surpass medical predictions. It can only be said that you and your wife are very fortunate.”
Pregnancy is often seen as a matter of fate.
Sometimes, both partners are perfectly healthy, yet they cannot conceive no matter what they try.
Other times, even if one partner has health issues that make pregnancy seem impossible, they end up conceiving mysteriously.
Fu Sichan and Lu Yunyao fell into the latter category.
“Little girl, you’re truly my lucky star.”
Fu Sichan, excited, pulled the young woman into his arms.
Afraid of hurting the baby, he held her gently.
Lu Yunyao laughed at him. “Mr, you’re being too cautious.”
The baby and she weren’t that fragile.
Suddenly, Fu Sichan thought of something and became worried.
“Could eating hotpot tonight affect the baby?”
Fu Sichan’s dislike for Bai Xuan deepened.
If she hadn’t disgusted him, Yunyao wouldn’t have gone to bed hungry.
If not for wanting to avoid her, they wouldn’t have suddenly decided to eat hotpot.
It was all Bai Xuan’s fault!
“That shouldn’t be a problem, Mr.”
The doctor couldn’t make any guarantees. “You should go to the hospital for a check-up to confirm.”
After all, everyone’s body is different, and such matters are unpredictable.
“Alright, we’ll go to the hospital tomorrow.”
Fu Sichan finally calmed down and told the doctor, “Your bonus this month will be ten times the usual.”
Now it was the doctor’s turn to be excited.
His smile stretched from ear to ear, and if not for the circumstances, he would have celebrated with fireworks on the spot.
The doctor said enthusiastically
“Mr. Fu, Mrs. Fu, you will certainly live long and have many descendants!”
Oh my God, what incredible luck to encounter such good news!
In that moment, he felt luckier than even the soon-to-be father, and thought he could use his luck to buy a lottery ticket.
