Chapter 177 : Clarification!
Bai Xuan saw the “dog abuse” video about Lu Yunyao online.
She didn’t care whether the video was real or fake and immediately rushed over to the Fu family.
“Grandma Fu, you have to take a look at this video! I was shocked when I saw it!”
Bai Xuan deliberately turned up the volume to the maximum.
Grandma Fu was elderly and kind-hearted; she couldn’t bear to see people or animals suffer.
Her brows furrowed tightly.
“People nowadays are becoming more heartless, they can do anything.”
“Grandma Fu, I heard it was Miss Lu who did this.”
The old lady was so surprised that she stumbled over her words.
“What? You mean Yaoyao?”
“Yes, someone released her photos from that day, and she was wearing the same clothes as in the video. Her height and build also match; it’s probably her.”
Grandma Fu put on her reading glasses and watched the video closely for a while.
The more she looked, the more it resembled Lu Yunyao.
“How could it be Yaoyao? Her personality is soft; she’s like a little lamb. How could she do something so cruel?”
Bai Xuan pretended to hesitate and shook her head.
“Ah, that Miss Ye is quite flamboyant. Maybe she led Miss Lu astray.”
Bai Xuan was clever, she didn’t directly slander Lu Yunyao.
She knew that wouldn’t convince Grandma Fu; it would only raise suspicion.
But if she poured dirt on someone the old lady already disliked, Grandma Fu would believe it wholeheartedly.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Grandma Fu became furious.
“Another incident with that Miss Ye! She’s from a prestigious family; how could she develop such a character?”
Bai Xuan displayed a gentle smile, her words hitting the old lady’s soft spot.
“Grandma Fu, I heard that abusing small animals can affect future generations! We can’t take this lightly. Brother should properly educate Miss Lu. She’s pregnant and shouldn’t be causing harm; the Fu family’s fortune shouldn’t be wasted by her.”
One had to admit, she was quite adept at manipulating people’s emotions.
By the end of her speech, Grandma Fu had developed significant dissatisfaction toward Lu Yunyao without even realizing it!
What was wrong with that girl? Lately, she was doing all sorts of unlikable things.
If this really affected future generations, how would she explain it to the ancestors of the Fu family?
“No, I need to have a good talk with Sichan and make sure he keeps an eye on Lu Yunyao. She shouldn’t get too close to Miss Ye. You are influenced by the company you keep, if Lu Yunyao continues down this path, even I, as her grandmother, can’t bear to watch.”
Bai Xuan pretended to soothe the old lady. “Grandma Fu, don’t be angry. Brother is very filial, he will definitely listen to you.”
A glint flashed in her eyes.
Good, Grandma Fu was no longer calling Lu Yunyao by her nickname but by her full name.
It seemed this incident had indeed caused Grandma Fu’s impression of her to plummet!
…
“Sichan, explain to me what’s going on with Lu Yunyao abusing dogs!”
Grandma Fu called her grandson, starting with an angry question.
Fu Sichan’s gaze turned slightly cold.
“Grandma, where did you hear about this?”
Although the matter was buzzing online, Grandma Fu rarely surfed the web, so she shouldn’t know about it.
“Don’t worry about how I found out. Lu Yunyao is pregnant! How can she do something like this? Doesn’t she fear retribution or that it will affect the child?”
Fu Sichan took a deep breath, already suspecting who might have informed her.
“It was Bai Xuan, wasn’t it?”
Grandma Fu let out a huff through her nose. “So what if she told me?”
“This matter is not at all like what’s being said online. I’ll send you a surveillance video, you’ll understand.”
After watching the footage, Grandma Fu finally grasped what had really happened.
“So it was this dog that knocked Yaoyao down first. I misunderstood her. Did you take her to the hospital for a checkup? She’s not hurt, is she?”
“Fortunately, she fell next to some flowers, so the ground was soft, and she didn’t get seriously hurt.”
Grandma Fu let out a long sigh of relief.
“As long as she’s fine. Things online can be so mixed up, at my age, it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s not.”
Fu Sichan replied meaningfully, “Grandma, it doesn’t matter if things online are clear or not, but in reality, we must distinguish things clearly.”
After finishing the call with Grandma Fu, the Lu family called to check in.
“President Fu, how is Yaoyao now? Is she hurt?”
“I’ve sent Yunbei to Mingyuan Community to pick her up. Should we bring her to our place to avoid the spotlight?”
Fu Sichan’s expression darkened.
“She’s not hurt, she’s doing well. I’ll take care of this matter and won’t bother my parents-in-law.”
…
On the day of the “dog abuse” incident, the original video was taken down, and many accounts were banned.
Three days after the incident blew up, an official investigation notice jumped to the top of the trending searches, complete with comprehensive surveillance footage.
The six-camera footage clearly showed
Lu Yunyao was walking peacefully when a large dog, not on a leash, knocked her over, and her blind cane accidentally tapped the dog.
Then, she was harshly scolded by the dog owner.
The owner’s son even added embellishments, creating a fake dog abuse video that sparked a wave of online harassment and doxing!
“What a reversal! Thank goodness I didn’t take a side at that time, otherwise, my face would have been swollen from the backlash.”
“You messed with the Lu family’s heiress, which is like messing with a cotton ball. If it were me getting scolded, I’d definitely beat that old lady up.”
“That poor girl! She got scolded by that old lady and then was harassed online. My heart aches for her.”
“Isn’t her eyesight not too good? Suddenly knocked down by a dog; how could she control her cane? And they still want to blame her?”
“Whoa! So the one who posted the video is the dog owner’s son! Does he even know his mom has a dog of a son?”
When the truth about the incident was clarified, Lu Yunyao was on the phone with Ye Wanquing.
Ye Wanquing sounded very displeased.
“I really don’t understand what’s wrong with my brother. I asked him to help clarify things for you, but he refused! He said this isn’t his concern, which drives me crazy!”
Lu Yunyao smiled, “Since Ye Xuanlin returned to Su City, he must have a lot on his plate.”
“Even if he’s busy, he should help his sister’s friend in trouble, right?”
Ye Wanquing threw the pillow in her hands, treating it like Ye Xuanlin, slamming it against the wall several times.
“Thank goodness the authorities handled it quickly and clarified the truth. Otherwise, I would have flown to Su City and fought my brother myself!”
Lu Yunyao revealed a relieved smile.
“Yes, luckily the truth has come to light, and I can go back to school to study again.”
“But I wonder if those who insulted you will apologize.”
Lu Yunyao shook her head. “They won’t.”
People who enjoy online bullying won’t apologize, even if they’re wrong.
Ye Wanqing said excitedly, “I just came across some really satisfying news, let me tell you!”
