Chapter 196 : Lucky
No matter how much Fu Sichan tried to comfort her, Lu Yunyao’s tears fell like beads from a broken string, constantly streaming down.
A single thought echoed in her mind:
It’s all her fault, she harmed her own baby…
If anything happened to the baby, she would never forgive herself for the rest of her life!
“Ma’am, let us take you to the hospital,” someone said.
Lu Yunyao nodded, her movements stiff like a marionette as she got into the car.
Not long after arriving at the hospital, Fu Sichan showed up.
“Yaoyao!”
He strode over, his long legs carrying him swiftly toward her.
Seeing him approach, a wave of guilt washed over Lu Yunyao, and tears spilled from her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Mr. I was too careless…”
Ashamed, she lowered her head, unable to face Fu Sichan.
If only there were a pill for regret, Lu Yunyao would have swallowed a whole bottle!
Just to go back to this afternoon, when everything was still okay.
She wouldn’t have gone to that classroom at all!
Then none of this would have happened.
Unfortunately… there’s no such pill in this world.
Seeing that she was still conscious and hadn’t passed out, Fu Sichan felt a significant weight lift from his heart.
He gently patted Lu Yunyao on the back.
“Don’t be afraid, everything will be fine. I’ll take you for a check-up.”
He held her small hand, staying by her side as they completed the remaining tests.
During the wait for the results, Lu Yunyao’s face turned pale with anxiety.
“Why are your hands so cold?”
Fu Sichan frowned in worry, wrapping her soft hand in his to warm it.
“Don’t worry, you were only in that room for a little while. Besides, I heard from the bodyguards how brave you were, breaking all the glass in the classroom.”
“In places with good air flow, the concentration of formaldehyde drops quickly, it won’t harm the baby.”
“Worrying like this is actually worse for the baby. So, please, try not to stress, okay?”
With Fu Sichan’s gentle reassurance, hope began to rekindle in Lu Yunyao’s heart.
Her icy little hand gripped Fu Sichan’s big hand tightly, like holding onto the last lifeline.
“Mr, the baby will be okay, right?”
Her round, almond-shaped eyes were red and swollen, filled with fear and guilt.
Fu Sichan felt a sharp pain in his heart.
This was his first child, how could he not feel heartbroken?
But Yaoyao was already filled with self-blame. If he criticized or blamed her now, it would only push her closer to emotional collapse!
That would be harmful to both her and the baby.
What he needed to do now was to stabilize the little girl’s emotions.
If the test results showed the baby was fine, it would be a cause for celebration.
But if, by chance, the baby was harmed and couldn’t survive, then… he could only do his best to help Yaoyao come to terms with it.
They were still young; they could have another child.
But Lu Yunyao couldn’t be hurt again.
Fu Sichan had already mentally prepared for the worst.
A fleeting shadow crossed his eyes, but he quickly grasped Lu Yunyao’s hand, sheltering her under his care.
“It will be okay, it definitely will. Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Lu Yunyao pressed her hand to her heart, silently praying.
Please, let there be no harm to her baby.
If possible, she would bear all the consequences, just to ensure her baby was healthy.
Perhaps the heavens heard Lu Yunyao’s prayers.
The test results came back.
Doctors and nurses rushed into the room. “We’ve checked, all the baby’s indicators are normal! Mr. Fu, Mrs. Fu, please don’t worry. The baby is healthy!”
Lu Yunyao covered her belly with her hands, crying.
“Really? The baby is really okay? This won’t cause any aftereffects, right?”
“Rest assured, a healthy fetus is not that fragile. Besides, you were only in the room for a short time and opened the window immediately, so the formaldehyde was blown out by the wind. You didn’t inhale much.”
The doctor’s findings matched what Fu Sichan had said.
At a critical moment, thankfully Lu Yunyao was brave enough to break all the windows, giving her baby a fighting chance.
Fu Sichan closed his eyes, bloodshot from worry.
He let out a long breath and pulled Lu Yunyao into his arms.
“Little girl, it’s all my fault for making you suffer.”
Leaning against his strong chest, Lu Yunyao’s nose turned sour, and she cried freely.
“Waaah—”
She had been so scared her fingers were trembling.
At this moment, she could finally feel at ease.
Lu Yunyao cried her heart out, as if trying to release all her fear and worries!
Fu Sichan’s long fingers gently combed through her hair, offering silent comfort.
However, even though the baby had miraculously escaped harm, the one behind it still needed to be punished!
Fu Sichan soothed the exhausted Lu Yunyao to sleep.
“Get some rest. We can talk about everything tomorrow.”
“Mm.”
After learning that the baby was fine, the heavy stone that had been pressing on Lu Yunyao’s heart finally eased.
She rested her head on Fu Sichan’s shoulder and drifted off to sleep peacefully.
As her breathing gradually became light and even, Fu Sichan carefully withdrew his arm and tucked her in with the blanket.
Tears still lingered on her face, and her delicate nose was red from crying.
He gently wiped away the traces of her tears with a warm towel.
Having done all this, he tiptoed out of the hospital room.
“You must stay right here,” he instructed the bodyguards.
“Yes, sir.”
Four bodyguards, two at the windows, two at the door.
Not even a fly could get in!
Nurses in the hospital whispered among themselves about how attentive Mr. Fu was to his wife.
It’s hard to find a man who loves his wife this much!
“If it were someone else, the first thing they’d do at the hospital would probably be to scold and blame their wife.”
“After all, she’s already been through such a huge shock, filled with guilt and fear. If her family scolded her now, she might even feel like giving up.”
“Thankfully, Mr. Fu is reasonable and knows this isn’t his wife’s fault, but rather someone else’s malice.”
“Exactly, Mrs. Fu is also a victim, and she’s been incredibly brave and smart. If it were me, I probably wouldn’t have reacted so quickly.”
Most people wouldn’t have the courage to break all the windows in a room filled with formaldehyde.
And on top of that, she couldn’t even see!
What tremendous courage that took!
Perhaps it was her identity as a mother that gave her all that bravery!
Just as Fu Sichan stepped out of the hospital, his assistant hurried over.
“Mr. Fu, we’ve found the student who tricked Mrs. Fu! He locked all the windows in the building while everyone else was opening them for ventilation, then lured your wife into the classroom and locked it from the outside.”
A chilling fury filled Fu Sichan’s eyes, making others tremble.
His brief statement carried a coldness that felt like it had crawled up from hell.
“Where is he?”
“I’ll take you there right now!”
