Chapter 203 : Grandma
After Lu Yunyao was discharged, she sat in the Fu family car and arrived at the Lu family villa.
In addition to her three immediate family members, there were also many unfamiliar relatives present.
“Yunyao, come meet your grandmother, and your uncle and aunt. This is your cousin and cousin.”
Seeing so many unfamiliar relatives all at once made Lu Yunyao a bit nervous.
She steeled herself and approached, greeting each person.
Her grandmother gave a curt “hm” and glanced at her before ignoring her entirely.
Sitting next to her was her eldest grandson, who looked about seven or eight years old.
“Come on, Tianci, open your mouth, ah—”
Grandma scooped some ginseng soup with a spoon and brought it to her cousin Wang Tianci’s mouth.
Annoyed, Tianci pushed the spoon away. “I said I don’t want to drink it! It tastes terrible! Not even a dog would drink this!”
His words made the others in the villa frown.
Lu Yunbei couldn’t help but scold him, “What are you saying? This is a tonic that my mom usually drinks. If you don’t want it, just refuse it, but why say such things?”
That brat had absolutely no manners!
Wang Tianci had been spoiled since childhood and had never been reprimanded before.
So he snatched the spoon and threw it at Lu Yunbei.
“I told you! I told you! It’s disgusting! Not even a dog would drink it!”
The child’s aim was poor, he intended to throw it at Lu Yunbei but nearly hit Lu Yunyao instead.
Fortunately, Lu Yunbei reacted quickly and shielded his sister in time.
However, a noticeable stain appeared on his clean suit.
His face turned pale, and he struggled to suppress his anger.
Originally, the soup was meant for Mrs. Lu.
But as soon as the old lady saw ginseng in the soup, her eyes lit up, and she hurriedly took it to feed her eldest grandson.
Yet he refused to drink it and ended up spitting it all over her.
This broke the old lady’s heart.
She slammed the bowl of ginseng soup down on the coffee table with a loud “thud.”
“What kind of cooking is going on in the kitchen? How can ginseng soup taste so terrible that Tianci won’t drink it? He’s still so young, what if he doesn’t get the nutrition he needs?”
Mrs. Lu felt completely scolded and could only smile awkwardly, repeatedly saying, “I’ll have a word with the kitchen and have them make it again.”
The old lady pounded the table. “Hurry and make another bowl! Go on! Your brother is at home, don’t be stingy with a few ginseng roots!”
The scene made it seem as if she was the true head of the household.
It felt like her precious grandson couldn’t survive without his ginseng soup.
Lu Yunyao hadn’t expected to encounter such a situation during her visit to the Lu family.
“Brother, what’s going on?”
She pulled her brother aside, away from the living room, to ask discreetly.
Lu Yunbei wore a worried expression. “Grandma and Uncle’s family don’t have a good relationship with us. They haven’t been in touch for years. This time, they heard that Uncle wants to arrange a good elementary school for his son, so they came here to ask Dad for help.”
Since they needed something from them, they should have shown some humility.
But instead, there was no sincerity at all, just aggression.
If someone didn’t know better, they might think this was the Wang family.
Lu Yunyao patted her brother’s shoulder and comforted him, “They’ll only stay a few days, once they leave, everything will be fine.”
“Let’s hope they only stay a few days.”
Lu Yunbei feared they might refuse to leave.
That would be a real headache.
Soon, the sound of a car pulling into the driveway echoed from outside.
Since the gatekeeper let them in, they must be people they knew.
Lu Yunyao’s eyes lit up. “Mr. is here.”
She quickly jogged to the door and indeed saw a familiar figure stepping out of the car.
The man was tall with long legs, his expression cold and indifferent, like a deity that shouldn’t be disrespected.
But the moment he saw Lu Yunyao, the frost on his face melted instantly, revealing a warmth that was uniquely his.
Fu Sichan strode over and took her hand.
“Why are you out here alone?”
Lu Yunyao explained, “My grandmother and my uncle’s family came over. I don’t get along with them well, so I came out to get some fresh air and ran into you.”
“Did someone bully you?”
Fu Sichan immediately grew alert.
After all, the little girl looked so soft and easy to pick on.
He was worried that if he left her alone for even a moment, she might be bullied by others.
Lu Yunyao couldn’t help but laugh. “Mr, I’m not that easy to bully!”
“Are there really no ill-intentioned people around you?”
His words left Lu Yunyao speechless.
It was true; she seemed to attract troublemakers.
Maybe she should visit a temple soon to ward off bad luck and avoid being targeted by them.
“I don’t get along with Grandma and Uncle, but for now, they’re treating me relatively kindly.”
“That’s good.”
…
Lu Yunyao held Fu Sichan’s hand and walked into the villa.
Fu Sichan’s striking appearance and commanding presence indicated his exceptional status.
“Why didn’t you say there were guests?” The elderly woman shot a glare at Mrs. Lu, muttering under her breath.
Mrs. Lu felt awkward and replied, “This is Yunyao’s husband, I forgot to mention it to you earlier.”
The elderly woman had originally wanted to assert her authority as the elder, expecting Lu Yunyao and Fu Sichan to come over and pay their respects. But when faced with Fu Sichan’s sharp gaze, she felt a sudden unease and tension in her chest.
This man seemed formidable.
Clearing her throat, the elderly woman said, “Since he’s a guest, please take a seat.”
Her tone made it seem as if she were the one in charge of the household.
Mrs. Lu glanced at Lu Feng, feeling embarrassed, but thankfully, Lu Feng didn’t mind these little matters and called everyone to take their seats.
Dishes were brought to the table.
Given Mrs. Lu’s health concerns, the Lu family usually prepared light and simple meals. But today, the table was laden with rich, greasy foods.
“You served such a small meal at your house this morning, and you didn’t even use enough oil,” the elderly woman remarked.
“See, I gave the kitchen a few tips, and the afternoon dishes are immediately much better. Look how shiny they are, they smell delicious,” she boasted with satisfaction.
She tapped her bowl with her chopsticks and instructed the servants, “Bring this soup in front of my grandson, he loves chicken soup.”
“Also bring over the braised pork, let the child eat first.”
Wang Tianci was the elderly woman’s only grandson, and she cherished him like her own eyes.
Before Lu Yunyao even picked up her chopsticks, the overwhelming smell of greasy meat made her stomach churn.
She looked to Fu Sichan for help.
Understanding immediately, Fu Sichan took her away from the dining room, finding a vase in the guest room for her to vomit in.
Seeing Lu Yunyao’s pale face, he gently patted her back, feeling a pang of sympathy.
“Are you feeling better now?”
Lu Yunyao weakly nodded, “Yes, I feel much better after throwing up.”
However, she didn’t want to return to the dining table.
The strong odors were too much for her, she couldn’t handle it at all.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
“Yunyao, are you alright?” It was her brother, Lu Yunbei’s voice.
