Chapter 204 : Good News
Lu Yunyao pushed against Fu Sichan’s chest, saying, “Mr, could you please go open the door?”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
Fu Sichan was completely unconcerned about her brother-in-law outside, his focus was solely on Lu Yunyao.
When she nodded, “I’m feeling much better, don’t worry,” he helped her sit down and moved the vase far away to spare her from the unpleasant smell.
Only then did he leisurely walk to the door and open it.
On the other side stood not only Lu Yunbei but also Lu Feng, who wore a worried expression.
“Fu… brother-in-law, what happened to Yunyao? Mom is very worried and asked me to come check on her.”
Lu Yunbei still wasn’t used to calling Fu Sichan by name directly.
Fu Sichan stepped aside, allowing the father and son to enter.
He pointed to the vase in the corner and instructed the servant, “Take that vase away.”
As the Lu family entered the guest room, their similar faces were etched with concern.
“Yunyao, why were you hospitalized? What’s wrong with your health?”
Now that she was away from the greasy smell of the dining room, Lu Yunyao felt much better.
She smiled softly, “Dad, brother, I actually have good news to share with you.”
“Good news?”
Lu Feng and Lu Yunbei exchanged glances.
How could there be good news when Yunyao was in the hospital?
Their gazes shifted back to her, and their worry deepened.
This girl, she wasn’t injured in the head, was she?
Unaware of their thoughts, Lu Yunyao shyly looked in Fu Sichan’s direction before softly saying, “I’m pregnant.”
“What?!”
The surprised exclamations from the Lu family nearly raised the ceiling of the guest room.
What did they just hear?
Yunyao was pregnant?
After finally finding their long-lost treasure, they had muddled through a marriage, and now she was pregnant so soon?
In an instant, Lu Feng seemed to age several years.
Lu Yunbei felt a mix of emotions but accepted the news quickly.
With the vast fortune of the Fu family, it was indeed necessary to have an heir sooner rather than later to prevent complications.
If Yunyao had a child early on, the Fu family would certainly value her more.
This would also be beneficial for her.
“So, was that morning sickness you experienced earlier?” Lu Yunbei asked.
Fu Sichan nodded, “Yes.”
He looked at his brother-in-law with a hint of hostility.
After all, it was those greasy dishes that had made his little girl uncomfortable.
He felt for his wife, and his frustration had to be directed somewhere, so it landed on his brother-in-law.
Lu Yunbei furrowed his brows. “I should have stopped Grandma earlier.”
Lu Feng sighed. “It wouldn’t have made a difference.”
The elder relied on her seniority and had always been in charge, she wouldn’t change her mind just because the younger generation asked her to.
That would be a slap in her face!
She wouldn’t agree to anything!
“Dad, you go back to the dining room and keep an eye on things. I’ll take care of my sister.”
“Make sure to take good care of her.”
Since Lu Feng couldn’t be away for long, he left first.
Lu Yunbei secretly instructed the kitchen to prepare a light meal and bring it to the room.
“Brother, don’t we rarely interact with Grandma and Uncle?”
Lu Yunbei nodded gravely. “Yes, because something unpleasant happened years ago.”
“What happened?”
“When Mom was pregnant with you, Grandma and Uncle stayed at our house for a while…”
At that time, Lu Yunbei hadn’t fully understood Grandma’s character.
He thought she was a good person.
But unexpectedly, while Mom was pregnant and Dad was out socializing, Grandma took the opportunity to spread rumors, sowing discord between his parents.
“Grandma privately told Mom that she saw Dad cheating and encouraged them to get divorced.”
Lu Yunyao was confused. “Why would she say that?”
“Because Uncle was about to get married, and the family couldn’t afford a house or the bride price. She wanted Mom to divorce Dad and take half of the Lu family’s assets!”
Just because of that, Grandma wanted to break up their family!
She only cared about her son, never considering her daughter’s (Mrs. Lu.) feelings.
At that time, Mrs. Lu. was pregnant, and one misstep could have led to a double tragedy!
Lu Yunyao was completely shocked.
Wasn’t Mom and Uncle also part of Grandma?
How could Grandma be so biased?
She was willing to deceive her daughter with rumors just to get her hands on the Lu family’s assets.
Didn’t Grandma fear for her daughter’s health?
“Fortunately, Dad and Mom had a strong relationship and weren’t swayed. In the end, they safely gave birth to you. But since then, our family has had little contact with Grandma and Uncle.”
Lu Yunyao pondered, “No wonder I’ve never met Grandma.”
She only knew she had an uncle and a grandmother but had never seen either.
“You weren’t around our family for these years, but occasionally Grandma would bring Uncle’s family to stay for a while, and each time they came, they took away a lot of things.”
“As long as they behave themselves, the Lu family doesn’t really mind these things.”
After all, Lu Feng was tolerating the Wang family for the sake of Mrs. Lu.
They had already made many concessions.
As long as the Wang family didn’t cause trouble and just took the money, they wouldn’t have to confront them directly.
After all… they were the closest relatives Mrs. Lu. had in this world, aside from her husband and children.
Lu Yunyao sighed, “If we can maintain this balance, that would be fine.”
“Yeah, my parents and I think the same. There’s no need to sever ties unless absolutely necessary.”
Just then, a servant came in with the meal.
After throwing up earlier, Lu Yunyao’s nausea had lessened considerably.
With the meal being light, she picked up a spoon and slowly sipped her porridge.
Lu Yunbei nervously said, “Brother-in-law, you should eat something too.”
Earlier, when Fu Sichan had taken Lu Yunyao away from the table, he hadn’t eaten a bite.
Lu Yunyao scooped up some porridge and brought it to Fu Sichan’s mouth.
“Mr, you should have some porridge too.”
Lu Yunbei’s heart skipped a beat, fearing his brother-in-law would push his sister away due to his cleanliness obsession.
But to his surprise, Fu Sichan didn’t mind at all and drank the porridge from the spoon Lu Yunyao had used.
Is this really the same Fu Sichan rumored to be aloof and obsessive about cleanliness?
It seemed that since being with his sister, his brother-in-law had changed quite a bit, even his temperament.
After taking a sip of porridge herself, Lu Yunyao offered the spoon to Fu Sichan again.
Fu Sichan wasn’t fond of porridge, but it seemed he could drink more this way, so he didn’t refuse.
In this manner, Lu Yunyao finished her meal peacefully.
The servant came in to clear the dishes.
Lu Yunbei glanced at the darkening sky. “Yaoyao, it’s already dark outside. You and your husband should stay here for the night. It’s been a while since you’ve come over, and Mom and Dad have really missed you.”
