Chapter 39 : Stealing

Now it was Mu Qianqian’s turn to be surprised.

The clothes she was wearing had been bought by the Mr. She had thought they were just from a regular brand, only slightly better in quality.

She hadn’t expected them to be limited edition.

Why is the Mr. so generous with her?

As an ordinary office worker, why would he buy her such expensive clothes?

She would have to talk to him about it when she got back.

Mu Qianqian thanked Fu Qianxing, “Thank you for saving me earlier. I’m heading home now. Goodbye.”

Yao Xuan’er forced a smile, “Young Master Fu, everything that happened earlier was a misunderstanding. I meant no harm to Mu Qianqian, I just wanted to befriend her. After all, who would want to bother with a blind person?”

“Befriend her? Hmph, who would want to be friends with you?” Fu Qianxing pushed her away with disgust.

Yao Xuan’er was shoved to the side. If her friends hadn’t caught her, she would have likely fallen to the ground.

Fu Qianxing looked at her with disgust and indifference, “Even though Qianqian can’t see, her character and integrity are far better than yours! Who says no one wants to bother with her? I’d rather follow her around every day.”

A flash of jealousy crossed Yao Xuan’er’s eyes, “Yes, yes, I misspoke earlier.”

Fu Qianxing sneered, “You’re not even worth a strand of her hair. If I see you bullying her again, don’t blame me for being rude.”

Yao Xuan’er nearly bit through her lip, “…How could I bully a classmate? Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to get along well with Mu Qianqian.”

Fu Qianxing glared at her coldly before turning to leave.

It seemed he was so disgusted by her that he wiped his right hand several times on his clothes, trying to remove any dirt from it.

Seeing this, Yao Xuan’er was almost driven mad.

“Mu Qianqian, don’t think I’ll let this go. I’m determined to make things difficult for you!”

After leaving the school, Mu Qianqian received a call from Li Jie, the person in charge of Yun Cheng Hotel.

“Qianqian, please come over quickly. Someone reported you for stealing.”

Mu Qianqian was alarmed, “What? I didn’t steal anything.”

“I know you didn’t, but please come over anyway to clear things up in person. It’s better than letting others gossip behind your back.”

“Okay, I’ll head over right away.”

Mu Qianqian hailed a taxi on the roadside and rushed to Yun Cheng Hotel.

When she arrived, Li Jie immediately said, “Qianqian, Wang Yanru found one of our VIP gifts in your break room and reported you for stealing it.”

Mu Qianqian urgently defended herself, “Li Jie, how could that be? I didn’t steal anything, really.”

Wang Yanru stood coldly to the side, “Hmph, the evidence is right here. Are you still going to argue?”

“What evidence? Explain it to me,” Mu Qianqian said, her face reddening with anxiety.

“You say you didn’t steal anything, so what is this?”

Wang Yanru pointed to a pure gold princess figurine on the table, meticulously crafted and worth hundreds of thousands.

“This is a gift only for VIPs. If you’re just a service staff member, how did you get this if you didn’t steal it?”

“It was given to me by a distinguished guest. He gave me a lot of desserts, and one of them included this as a gift.”

To her, this pure gold decoration was too precious, but to the guest, it was just a trivial gift.

Mu Qianqian had intended to return the item, but not knowing the guest’s name, she temporarily kept it with her.

Wang Yanru pressed on, “A distinguished guest gave it to you? Hmph, which distinguished guest?”

Mu Qianqian couldn’t answer, “I—I don’t know.”

“Since you don’t know him, why would he give you sweets and such an expensive item?”

“Do you think we’re fools? Who would give you such a large gift if you’re not related to them?”

“I’m telling you, Mu Qianqian, this thing is worth over a million. If we call the police now, you’d better prepare for prison!”

Mu Qianqian was scolded and pointed at by Wang Yanru.

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she fought hard to keep them from falling.

She couldn’t cry, she couldn’t afford to, as it would be bad for her eyes.

Mu Qianqian held back her tears and did not break down in front of everyone.

She calmly reasoned, “If I really stole this, why would I leave it here instead of taking it home? Wouldn’t I have already taken it away if I had stolen it?”

Wang Yanru was momentarily taken aback.

Mu Qianqian’s argument did make some sense.

If she had truly intended to steal something, she would have secretly taken it away by now instead of leaving it behind to be discovered.

Wang Yanru’s eyes darted around as she continued to maliciously cast doubt.

“Who knows what you’re really thinking? Maybe you just haven’t found the right opportunity yet. Or maybe you want to steal more things and take them all home later.”

“You’re slandering me!” Mu Qianqian protested.

“Do you have any evidence to prove that this gift wasn’t stolen by you? Can you contact the person who gave you the gift and have him come forward to clear things up?”

Mu Qianqian didn’t even know who the kind person was, so how could she contact him?

Moreover, the person had given her sweets and gifts out of kindness after seeing her upset. Mu Qianqian felt too embarrassed to involve him in this messy situation.

“Can’t provide an answer, right? I think you’re just a thief. Li Jie, let’s call the police and have her arrested. If we let her go this time, she might steal again in the future.”

Li Jie stepped in to speak on Mu Qianqian’s behalf, “Yanru, don’t jump to conclusions. There’s currently no evidence proving that what Qianqian said is false.”

Wang Yanru smugly replied, “But there’s also no evidence proving that what she said is true, is there?”

Li Jie sighed.

“Qianqian, with this situation, we can’t let you continue working here. Please go home for now. Your wages will be processed and sent to you later.”

Mu Qianqian bit her lip in frustration, “Whether or not I can stay, I hope this matter can be cleared up soon and that my name can be cleared.”

“If there are any new developments in the investigation, we will contact you. If it turns out that all of this was unfounded, don’t worry, we will provide you with some compensation.”

Mu Qianqian wasn’t interested in compensation, she just wanted to clear her name.

Leaving Yun Cheng Hotel, she returned home in a daze.

Before she got into a taxi, someone saw her familiar figure and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Oh?”

Wasn’t that his sister, Mu Qianqian?

Why was she coming out of a hotel?

The eldest of the Mu family, Mu Chenghui, quickly called his parents, his tone harsh and resentful.

“Dad, Mom, I found that shameless girl Mu Qianqian. She just came out of the hotel. How disgraceful.”

This girl, instead of staying at home and waiting to get married, had gone out to do something unspeakable with men.

Once he got her back, he would show her, as the eldest brother, how to discipline her properly!
