Chapter 68 : Allergy
“Shh, Mr. you need to step lightly. The mother cat just gave birth and is very easily startled right now.”
Mu Qianqian carefully approached the cat nest, crouching beside it. She could hear the soft sounds of the kittens nursing and the occasional “meow” from the mother cat.
Fu Sichan stood back, watching her from a distance.
While feeding the cat food, Mu Qianqian stealthily reached in to stroke the mother cat’s soft fur.
“Meow.”
The mother cat, familiar with her, nuzzled against her arm affectionately.
Sometimes, animals could be far kinder than people.
Mu Qianqian happily petted the cat and called out to Fu Sichan, “Mr. aren’t you going to pet the cats? They’re so well-behaved and not afraid of people at all.”
Fu Sichan kept his distance, “No, thank you.”
Though standing far away, he still felt a slight itch in his throat.
It seemed like the beginning of an allergic reaction.
“They’re very clean, not dirty at all. Really, you’ll see if you touch them, they’re especially soft.”
Despite her repeated invitations, Fu Sichan remained unmoved.
The young girl muttered, “You can resist petting such cute kittens? Mr. have you ever been through rehab or something?”
Fu Sichan, feeling helpless, walked over and ruffled her hair.
“Let’s go. It’s getting dark soon.”
He didn’t have much of a reaction to the cats, but seeing the cute Mu Qianqian made him often want to get involved.
“Okay, I won’t disturb them any longer.”
As Mu Qianqian was about to leave, a plump girl ran over. “You’re Mu Qianqian, right? My friend wants to see you.”
“Who’s your friend?”
“Liu Xi. You must have heard of her.”
Mu Qianqian thought for a moment and shook her head, “No, I haven’t.”
The girl thought she was pretending and stomped her foot in frustration. “She’s the campus beauty from our department, Feng Song’s ex-girlfriend. How could you not have heard of her?”
“I don’t know her. I’m going home.”
“Liu Xi hasn’t eaten for several days. Can’t you bear to see her like this? She just wants to talk to you for a few minutes. Why are you being so difficult? As a fellow woman, don’t you have any sympathy?”
Mu Qianqian was inexplicably scolded.
“I don’t know her, so what’s there to talk about?”
Seeing her being hassled, Fu Sichan frowned and approached.
“What’s the matter?”
“There’s someone who wants to talk to me, but I don’t know her, and there’s nothing to say.”
Fu Sichan took her hand, “If you don’t want to go, then don’t.”
Mu Qianqian had a few cat hairs on her hand. As soon as Fu Sichan held it, he felt a sharp, itchy pain in his palm, like being pricked by needles.
He pressed his lips together but didn’t let go, standing beside Mu Qianqian protectively.
Fu Sichan’s tone was cold and intimidating.
“Didn’t she say she doesn’t want to go? Can’t you hear her?”
The plump girl felt a chill under her feet and, not daring to meet Fu Sichan’s gaze, directed her frustration at the seemingly easy-to-bully young girl instead.
“Mu Qianqian, you’re really too much! I didn’t expect you to be such a cold-blooded person. If anything happens to Liu Xi, it’ll be your fault!”
After saying that, the unfamiliar plump girl stormed off in anger.
Mu Qianqian was bewildered. “How is it related to me?”
It was truly confusing.
Fu Sichan asked her, “Is someone giving you trouble at school?”
“Recently, someone has been pursuing me, and it’s all his fault.”
Fu Sichan paused slightly, his gaze revealing a hint of danger.
“Someone is pursuing you?”
The way he said it was as cold as ice, chilling.
Mu Qianqian, oblivious to the danger, continued, “Yeah, I’ve barely seen him a few times, and he’s been making a big fuss about pursuing me. I don’t like such superficial people. He even confessed to me in front of so many people, which embarrassed me and almost affected my studies.”
Her tone was not one of excitement or joy at being pursued, but of frustration.
Fu Sichan raised an eyebrow, suddenly finding it amusing.
His little girl hadn’t quite figured it out yet.
If it were another girl, she’d likely be swept up in the romance and would have accepted without hesitation.
But Mu Qianqian disliked being in the spotlight and focused only on her studies. The boy’s grand gestures only made her more annoyed.
“What’s his name? I’ll take care of it for you.”
Mu Qianqian’s eyes curved into a smile, and she said sweetly, “No need, Mr. He probably won’t bother me again.”
“If he harasses you again, let me know right away.”
Mu Qianqian couldn’t help but laugh, her mouth stretching into a broad smile, revealing her white teeth.
“Mr. you sound like a concerned elder.”
As if an elder were advising a child, worried about being bullied at school.
Fu Sichan was taken aback.
He cared for his wife, but in her eyes, he seemed like a kindly elder?
Wasn’t this a bit too far off?
Fu Sichan pinched her cheek and said solemnly, “Focus on your studies at school and stay away from those childish boys. They’ll only distract you. Do you understand?”
Let it be, it’s not a big deal. He still needed to say what was necessary.
Otherwise, if the little girl got taken away by someone one day, he’d regret it too late.
Mu Qianqian obediently nodded. “Got it, Mr.”
She also thought that those boys who only had love on their minds were too childish and not mature at all.
They weren’t her type.
—
Back home, Aunt Liu had finished cooking dinner and was about to take off her apron to leave.
She looked up and exclaimed, “Mr. Fu, why is your neck so red? Are you feeling sick?”
Fu Sichan’s neck was a bright red, looking a bit alarming, as if he were drunk.
“It’s nothing, you go ahead.”
“Should I call a doctor?”
“No need.”
Aunt Liu didn’t dare to say more, closed the door, and went next door.
Mu Qianqian’s small face turned worried. “Mr. what happened? Are you feeling unwell?”
She grabbed his arm and, instinctively, tiptoed closer to his neck to see what was wrong.
But her eyes weren’t cooperating, and she couldn’t see anything.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Her warm breath on Fu Sichan’s neck felt like soft feathers brushing against him.
Already irritated by the allergy, Fu Sichan found it even more unbearable with her breath.
A wave of irritation surged within him, and his gaze became inscrutable.
Fu Sichan took a deep breath and pushed Mu Qianqian away.
“Mr. why aren’t you speaking? Let me take you to the hospital.”
Mu Qianqian’s tone was anxious, showing her deep concern.
Fu Sichan felt a bit helpless.
A little girl with vision issues wanted to take him, a grown man, to the hospital.
If word got out, what would people think of him?
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. I’ll just have Dr. Song come over later to prescribe some medication.”
Mu Qianqian was so worried she wanted to pull at his collar.
Fu Sichan quickly grasped her wrist. “Go wash your hands.”
Her concern was something he was struggling to handle.
“I’m going right away.”
Fu Sichan called the family doctor and asked him to come over with some allergy medication.
