Chapter 19: I Want to Learn Medicine
The scissors reflected a blinding light in the sunlight, causing Lu Yian to instinctively raise his hand to shield his eyes.
Seizing this moment of his distraction, Bai Jinxi pretended to stumble backward, suddenly pulling him towards the path of the woman’s scissors…
By the time Lu Yian realized it, he had lost his balance and was unable to dodge.
The woman’s expression also changed noticeably, her madness mixed with a touch of panic, but she couldn’t stop in time.
Sizzle…
This was the sound of silk being torn.
Then came a dull thud, followed by Lu Yian’s heart-wrenching scream, “Ah!”
The sharp scissors tore through Lu Yian’s left sleeve, leaving a deep gash. The flesh at the wound was slightly torn, and blood flowed out in a steady stream.
Lu Yian saw his left arm, mangled and bloody, his sleeve stained with a large patch of blood. He rolled his eyes and fainted…
“Ah! Murder! Help! Someone!” Bai Jinxi turned and ran, shouting for help. She had caused Lu Yian’s injury. The woman would definitely not let her go easily. If she didn’t call for help, she would be in real danger!
The woman saw that she had accidentally injured Lu Yian. She was filled with regret and fear. Only by completing her mistress’s task would she have a chance to save her own life.
Gritting her teeth, she ignored Lu Yian lying on the ground and continued to chase after Bai Jinxi…
Bai Jinxi was, after all, just a ten-year-old girl. How could she outrun an adult woman? In a few steps, she was about to be caught. Seeing Zhang Ze and Banxia rushing towards them, she gritted her teeth and threw herself forward, rolling to the ground, widening the distance again!
Hurry! You two, if you don’t come, your young mistress will be in real trouble!
Zhang Ze and Banxia, hiding behind the bushes, had been nervously watching their young lady. When they saw the scissors stabbing at Bai Jinxi, Banxia almost screamed. Zhang Ze quickly covered her mouth.
Just as they were about to rush out to save Bai Jinxi, they received Bai Jinxi’s instructions not to come.
As the scissors slashed back and forth, they were so nervous they almost suffocated, fearing that Bai Jinxi might suffer any harm.
Now, hearing their young mistress shouting for help, Banxia yelled, “Young Lady!” She got up and rushed towards her young mistress, completely ignoring her fear of the crazy woman.
“Stop!” Zhang Ze also got up abruptly. In a few strides, he passed Banxia and rushed to Bai Jinxi’s side, kicking the scissors out of the woman’s hand…
It was so close; it would have cut Bai Jinxi!
Banxia quickly helped her young lady up and checked her. Seeing that she only had some dust on her clothes and was a little disheveled, but otherwise unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhang Ze stood in front of Bai Jinxi, keeping a close eye on the woman’s every move, fearing that she might make any desperate move.
“They’re coming!” The commotion here was too loud. Soon, they heard the sound of chaotic footsteps and voices coming from the direction of Luoyun Temple behind them…
The crazy woman, seeing that the situation was hopeless, glared at Bai Jinxi with hatred. Without even looking at Lu Yian on the ground, she slipped into the woods where she had come from.
“Stop!” Zhang Ze wanted to chase after her.
“Don’t chase. Go see how Lu Yian is doing.”
Bai Jinxi quickly stopped him. Although it would be best to catch the crazy woman, the current situation was not suitable for a complete break with Yun Moyi. It was better to save Lu Yian first!
“Aunt Yun, that’s how it happened. Brother An was injured by the crazy woman while trying to save me… Zhang Ze said he was worried about me and Banxia, but he didn’t want to disturb our fun, so he followed us from afar…”
“Fortunately, Zhang Ze was there, otherwise, Brother An and I would have been in trouble today!”
As she spoke, Bai Jinxi wiped her tears, and at the same time, she looked at Zhang Ze with gratitude.
Yun Moyi heard that it was Zhang Ze who had disrupted her plan. She was so angry that she wanted to curse, but with so many people watching, Zhang Ze was the one who saved her son and Bai Jinxi. She couldn’t scold him, and in fact…
“Zhang Ze, thank you for saving Sister Xi and An’er. When we get back to the mansion, I’ll have someone give you a big red envelope!” Yun Mo Yi forcibly suppressed her anger, walked up to Zhang Ze, and bowed to him.
“Hehe, Madam Yun, you’re too kind. Protecting the young lady is my duty.” Zhang Ze quickly dodged Yun Moyi’s bow, then scratched his head and replied with an embarrassed smile.
“Master Hui Ming, since my son has been bandaged, we won’t stay any longer. We’ll go down the mountain now.” Yun Moyi was in no mood to stay any longer. She bowed to Master Hui Ming and prepared to take them down the mountain.
“Pu Ye, to prevent Madam Yun and her party from encountering any more villains, you go and escort them down the mountain.” Pu Ye was the monk in charge of guests who had led the way. As soon as they entered the room, he winked at Master Hui Ming, so he was not surprised by this arrangement.
“Yes, Abbot.”
On the way to the medical room, Yun Moyi’s change in attitude had already made Pu Ye suspicious. However, as a Buddhist monk, he was not comfortable getting involved in the intrigues of the wealthy.
At most, he would escort the young lady down the mountain, ensuring that she would not be attacked again on the way down…
As they walked out, Yun Moyi suddenly noticed a book in Bai Jinxi’s arms. It looked quite old.
“Sister Xi, what’s that you’re holding?”
“It’s a medical book that Master Hui Ming lent me. Sister Xi wants to learn medicine. After all, the Bai family is a family of medicinal herbs. If I don’t understand medicine at all, wouldn’t I be bringing shame to my parents?” Bai Jinxi raised the medical book in her hand and said happily.
“Nonsense, how can one learn medicine blindly? If you misdiagnose a disease and use the wrong medicine, you could kill someone!” Yun Moyi’s face turned serious. For the first time, she reprimanded Bai Jinxi so sternly.
Hearing Yun Moyi’s words, Bai Jinxi’s smile froze on her face. Then she lowered her head and said in a voice full of grievance, “But Master Hui Ming said that after I memorize the contents of the book, I can go to Renxin Hall in the city to find Master Puzhi. He will teach me.”
After saying this, she turned her head pitifully towards Master Hui Ming.
Master Hui Ming nodded to Yun Moyi,
“Indeed. Since the young lady wants to learn medicine to heal the sick and save lives, this old monk is willing to help. Master Puzhi was a famous doctor in the local area before he became a monk. Now he provides free medical treatment for the poor at Renxin Hall. He once mentioned that he wanted to pass on his medical skills. Once the young mistress has learned the contents of the book, she can go to him.”
“Aunt Yun, please agree to let Sister Xi learn!” Bai Jinxi turned to Yun Moyi with hopeful eyes, her face full of supplication.
The reason why Yun Moyi didn’t want her to learn medicine was mainly because she was afraid that before she could control the people in the Bai family’s pharmacy, Bai Jinxi would take over.
But now, with so many eyes watching her—Bai Jinxi had a medical book, and a famous doctor was willing to teach her. She was also the heir to the Bai family’s pharmacy. She couldn’t think of any reason to refuse…
“Sigh… If that’s the case, then you should try to study the book at home first. If you can really memorize the entire medical book, I’ll let you go to Master Puzhi to learn.” Yun Moyi sighed, pretending to be helpless and agreeing.
Then, she quickly added, “Remember, just read the book. Don’t use your medical skills until Master Puzhi approves of you. Otherwise, you might kill someone…”
Yun Moyi stared at Bai Jinxi with a warning in her eyes.
“Thank you, Aunt Yun!” Bai Jinxi was so happy that her eyebrows were about to fly up to the sky.
Seeing this, Yun Moyi couldn’t help but sneer in her heart. Hah, after we return to the mansion, whether she can go to Renxin Hall, and when she can go, that’s up to me!
Bai Jinxi also saw the calculation in Yun Moyi’s eyes, but she didn’t care.
She was learning medicine, just to have a chance to bring the medicinal knowledge she had learned in her previous life to the surface!
However,
Her eyes darkened. Yun Moyi seemed very reluctant for her to learn medicine!
Then she had to be careful. She couldn’t let her know how much progress she was making in her studies…
