Chapter 104: Shancheng: Attacking the Zombie Python

Everyone held their breath and waited, the mutants gripping the iron chains tightly, their hearts pounding wildly.

The several iron chains, each as thick as three fingers, seemed increasingly insignificant in the face of the massive zombie python, as if they might snap at any moment.

The mutants managing the upper and lower chains converged, swiftly exchanging their grips on the chains, which instantly intertwined and wrapped tightly together.

In less than half a minute, the python hadn’t yet recovered from its initial daze. It only began to react as the chains tightened gradually around its body, causing it to shake its massive head and slowly turn to face them.

Lin Mu and the others also threw down their vehicles. Fu Jingmo leapt down from the street, forming a black blade that slashed directly toward the zombie python’s body.

Chen Yu grabbed Ye Xing, who was coughing so hard he was nearly collapsing, and shouted, “Xingxing, get up there! Go wait for me on the street.”

With that, he dashed toward Fu Jingmo’s side, conjuring an electric sphere in his hand. However, his wrist was quickly restrained by Fu Jingmo, who said, “The chains are conducting electricity. It’s not safe to use it here. Go deal with the zombies instead.”

Just as he finished speaking, the python began to fling zombies from the south bank toward them.

“Go upstairs!”

Even though the Jiangbei team had often been at odds with the Wunan Tower, in Shao Yingjie’s eyes, Ye Xing was just a kid-about the same age as his own son.

Ye Xing glanced in Chen Yu’s direction, clenched his teeth, and ran upstairs.

Two grenade launchers set up on the street fired simultaneously at the python. The immense pressure propelled the shells, slamming directly into the python’s head.

The young soldiers operating the grenade launchers felt a moment of relief. Such firepower could easily bring down a wall—surely, the python wouldn’t survive this.

However, after the grenade exploded, there was no expected spray of blood and flesh, but only a few scattered scales flew off.

A furious roar followed, and the python abruptly raised its head. What had previously been seven or eight meters above the river’s surface instantly extended to over ten meters.

He Ze extended his hands, condensing energy to suspend the descending curtain of water in mid-air. But how could his power hold back several tons of liquid?!!

This was likely the most severe injury the python had sustained so far. Immediately, it began thrashing in agony, rolling and churning the surface of the river. Massive splashes of water shot into the air, crashing down violently moments later.

From a bird’s-eye view, the entire hundred-meter stretch of the river churned violently.

Meanwhile, the grotesque and terrifying zombies continued staggering from all directions, climbing toward the street. Those shot by gunfire twisted and toppled back down the steps, only to rise and claw their way forward again.

The scene was utter chaos. The strength-based mutants held tightly to the iron chains, leaving them no energy to fend off the encroaching zombies. Other mutants clustered around them, desperately clearing the area.

“We can’t keep this up forever!” someone shouted.

Lin Mu’s gaze was icy as he forced himself to stay calm. It was too massive. For humans, dealing with such a gigantic python was almost insurmountable.

Its tough exterior and enormous body left them questioning—where could its weakness possibly lie?

Fu Jingmo ordered the grenade launchers to continue targeting the torn corner of the python’s mouth and its eyes, but the constant thrashing of the python made precise hits nearly impossible.

A few grenades were fired, but only one or two landed. Instead of subduing the creature, the attacks only seemed to enrage it further.

The sunlight was already fading, casting its final rays on the python’s body. Suddenly, something unusual caught Lin Mu’s eye.
