Chapter 118: Fu Jingmo: The Little Guy is Shy
Fu Jingmo’s voice was slightly hoarse as he leaned close to Lin Mu’s ear, attempting to shift his attention with some effort.
“Lin Xiao Mu, there’s something I need to confess to you.”
“W-what is it?”
Lin Mu’s mind was a mess. Instinctively, he pinched a corner of the blanket, his pale fingers gripping it tightly without moving.
Fu Jingmo hesitated for a second before continuing,
“When I took you away from Jiao Mountain, I had my personal reasons. But there was another reason—the higher-ups ordered me to take you to Fengcheng.”
“…”
The warmth coursing through his body felt as if it had been extinguished by a bucket of icy water. Lin Mu raised his eyes to look at him.
That cold, sharp face was less than an inch away, the warm breath even brushing against the side of his face.
In Fu Jingmo’s eyes, Lin Mu saw a trace of unease he had never seen before.
His mind raced, and he instantly grasped the key to the matter.
“Is it because of my self-healing ability? That first day, you saw the wound on my hand heal.”
“Yes,” Fu Jingmo nodded, rubbing the tip of his nose against Lin Mu’s. “The higher-ups instructed me to report any special mutants I encountered on the way. So that first night, when you were unconscious, I reported you.”
Lin Mu could understand. Back then, it was their first day meeting, and he had been unconscious.
To Fu Jingmo, he was just a peculiar mutant.
“Then… what about the personal reason?”
“The personal reason is what I told you then—I wanted to take you with me.”
“Why are you telling me this now?”
“Because that is no longer the reason I’m taking you to Fengcheng.”
Fu Jingmo lightly pecked the tip of his nose, the affectionate gesture never seeming enough.
“You are mine. Anyone who wants to do anything to you has to get my permission first.”
Lin Mu froze for a moment and awkwardly muttered, “Who said I was yours?”
After all, just a couple of kisses—what does that even make them? Nothing!
“Oh, well, it’s not too late to make you mine now.”
“…”
Lin Mu shifted, trying to get up, but was immediately pinned down again.
“Will you be mad?”
Fu Jingmo, like a clueless boy in his first relationship, leaned in and asked softly.
“No.”
“Hmph, don’t lie to me. The books all say that when someone says they’re not mad, it means they are.”
“…What kind of nonsense books have you been reading?”
“Hmm, I don’t remember. Do you want me to coax you?”
…
“No.”
Lin Mu’s gaze returned to its usual coldness as he tried to get up, only to be pulled back down.
A long leg stretched across him, pinning him in place.
“Lie down a bit longer. It’s not over yet.”
…
“You…”
“Be good, don’t fuss, just like a little kitten.”
Fu Jingmo adjusted his hold, hugging Lin Mu tighter, and closed his eyes, trying to calm himself.
Helpless, Lin Mu lay still and stopped struggling. After a while, he spoke, “Fu Jingmo, once for each of us. Let’s call it even.”
“Mm, even. From now on, no more hiding anything. Got it?”
“Mm.”
Even though both of them had kept secrets, Lin Mu still responded with a guilty hum.
The person in front of him, always so unpredictable, would crack jokes at the wrong times, act shamelessly, and exude an air of arrogance.
But Lin Mu knew that in the most critical and dangerous situations, Fu Jingmo was always the most steady and reliable person.
Everything was interconnected, one thing leading to another.
Perhaps it wasn’t the orders to take him to Fengcheng that mattered.
Back then, he wasn’t even someone worth Fu Jingmo wanting to take along.
…
It wasn’t until noon, when both of them were truly hungry, that they finally got out of bed.
The shirt Lin Mu had been wearing was crumpled from being wrapped in the blanket all night.
He straightened it out and, as his first task, went to the bathroom to check the mirror. Fortunately, the marks on his neck had already healed.
The blanket and sheets were tidied up and put back into the space storage, with the original ones tossed back onto the bed.
At least Lin Mu could put on a suit to cover his wrinkled shirt, but Fu Jingmo’s jacket hadn’t been brought along last night.
Not that he cared in the slightest—he simply buttoned the top button of his shirt collar and said, “Let’s go.”
The two of them went downstairs, and the receptionist was still the same woman from last night.
Seeing them come down, her gaze flitted over their clothes with a suggestive look, thinking to herself, Must’ve been intense.
“Well, well, handsome gentlemen, hope you had fun. Come again next time!”
Lin Mu’s handsome face flushed slightly as he quickened his pace toward the exit.
Following behind him, Fu Jingmo winked at the receptionist, putting on an expression of mock helplessness.
“The little guy’s shy.”
The person in front stumbled slightly at his words but quickly pretended to stay calm and steady his steps.
