Chapter 18 Scorpion Woman
As something approached, Lin Mu also heard the creepy sound that made his scalp tingle.
Through the crevices under the door of the auto repair shop, many… scorpions crawled in densely.
The scorpions were all black in color, larger than ordinary scorpions, about 15 centimeters long.
Their flat bodies squeezed through the door crack, with granular protrusions all over their backs, and the stinger on their tails arched up in preparation for an attack.
Not only under the door, but also through the broken windows, cracked corners of the walls, wherever there were crevices, scorpions kept coming in continuously.
They surrounded Lin Mu and Fu Jingmo in the house. Lin Mu was slightly nervous. Anyone would be afraid being surrounded by such a large wave of scorpions.
Of course, except for Fu Jingmo, who sneered, with a lazy smile, and said, “Interesting.”
The black scorpions stopped a meter in front of them, moving in unison, as if someone were controlling them.
Fu Jingmo raised his voice toward the door, “If you not come in, do you want to feed the zombies outside?”
As he finished speaking, the door was pushed open, and seven or eight people entered.
The leader was a woman in red leather pants, around twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. Standing next to her was a muscular bald man, holding a sledgehammer.
The rest all looked like ordinary men.
The woman’s gaze was icy, with a bright red color on her lips, “Leave your bags, and you can go.”
“And if we don’t?”
As soon as the words fell, the scorpions on the ground moved a step closer to Lin Mu and Fu Jingmo.
Fu Jingmo’s smile gradually widened at the corner of his lips, locking eyes with the woman, and said word by word, “Are you sure you want to do this?”
His tone carried an unparalleled confidence and certainty, instilling fear in people’s hearts.
The woman’s barely perceptible hesitation, Lin Mu noticed that her face was a little pale. It seemed that controlling this group of scorpions was not that easy.
The bald man next to her clearly lacked this insight, and he angrily smashed the ground with a sledgehammer.
With a loud bang, the cement splattered, leaving a deep hole in the ground, and fine cracks spread out.
There was no doubt that he was a superhuman with extraordinary strength.
He tightly gripped the half-man-high hammer and shouted loudly, “Don’t push your luck, leave everything, and I’ll spare your lives!”
Fu Jingmo snorted coldly, “So noisy.”
He waved his hand, and a black dot flashed. The hard hammer shattered with a snap.
The bald man trembled, incredulously looking at the iron hammer that was now just a handle in his hand. The people behind him tensed up and surrounded him.
Fu Jingmo smiled and shook his hand. “So… do you have any shame?”
The woman retracted her powers, and the scorpions on the ground returned to her side, crawling up her legs and merging into her skin, just like before.
Lin Mu felt a chill, and goosebumps appeared on his arm under his clothes.
“It was our offense,” the woman slowly spoke, saying to the people beside her, “Let’s go.”
“You want to leave just like that? We haven’t talked about what I want yet,” Fu Jingmo said, his voice cold and devoid of the previous nonchalance.
The group of people stopped in their tracks, and the woman stared at Fu Jingmo for a while before asking, “What do you want?”
“Names, abilities, and also, tell me about the situation in Yichang City. Why didn’t you evacuate?” Fu Jingmo spoke in a cold tone, no longer indifferent.
“Red Scorpion. I have a scorpion breeding farm at home. During the mutation, I was devoured by countless scorpions,” she said with a cold laugh, a hint of unwillingness in her voice. “Do you think everyone can be evacuated? The military, the ones who evacuate first are important leaders. The outer city area only gave half a day to evacuate. Now, apart from the inner city, there are no evacuation teams left in suburbs like this one.”
After a brief thought, Fu Jingmo knew that giving half a day in such a situation was already the limit.
“So you’re staying here?”
The woman shook her head, “We want to go to the inner city. Even if there are no military personnel to evacuate us, as long as we can find them, we can find a safe zone with them.”
Fu Jingmo turned his head and glanced at Lin Mu. Despite only knowing each other for a few days, Lin Mu seemed to understand what he meant.
He took a step forward and said, “My name is Lin Mu. We also want to go to the city, to Changyi Middle School. Why don’t we go together?”
Red Scorpion looked at him. This young man didn’t seem to have anything special about him; he was just an ordinary person. She didn’t immediately agree.
“We need to discuss it,” she said.
Lin Mu nodded in agreement, and Red Scorpion led the group out of the door.
He turned to Fu Jingmo and asked, “Is there any problem with bringing them along?”
In Fu Jingmo’s sharp eyes, a hint of coldness appeared. “If there’s a problem, we’ll solve it. Her ability might come in handy, and the situation in the city won’t be too good. It’ll be safer with a few more people.”
“Okay.”
Lin Mu nodded. Fu Jingmo had been protecting him all the way, so he naturally trusted Fu Jingmo’s judgment.
A few minutes later, the door was pushed open again.
The Red Scorpions had returned, the bald one had swapped the axe for one they had found elsewhere, and it was clear they had already discussed their plan.
“Alright, we’ll go with you, but if we spot retreating troops, we’ll leave,”
Fu Jingmo wasn’t surprised by their decision. “Sure, do as you please.”
The group quickly planned their route. Their destination was the city’s sports arena, but no matter what, they had to get through the current line of vehicles.
These vehicles were connected end to end, and from a distance, it seemed to stretch for several kilometers.
