Chapter 22: Lin Mu in a Coma
The zombies surrounded the young boy, completely immobilized.
Green tendrils slowly extended from the gaps, tightly constricting each zombie, emitting a sour and bone-chilling sound.
This is…vines?
Fu Jingmo’s eyes turned cold, his teeth clenched.
The pain of Lin Mu’s heart exploding and tearing apart, surrounded by vines, was just like that night, causing him to tremble in fear.
Coarse and rough things forcefully surged out of his tender heart, bringing forth shattered flesh and blood.
His vision was covered in green, and a large amount of blood gushed from his mouth, and he sank deeply into darkness…
All the zombies were tightly entangled by the vines, unable to move an inch.
With a muffled bang, decaying flesh exploded and fell to the ground along the tightly constricted vines.
The vines seemed alive, and even found the decaying flesh dirty. They shook it off until they felt clean, then swiftly retracted into Lin Mu’s body.
The black mist in front of him blocked all the foul remnants of flesh, and Fu Jingmo looked at the young boy lying on the ground, feeling his heart sink heavily back into his chest.
He approached and gently wiped away the bloodstains from the corner of the boy’s mouth, then held him in his arms.
Realizing that something was wrong, Red Scorpion had already come down from the back compartment. The bald man on the car stared in astonishment at the scene before him.
Fu Jingmo stood up, holding the young boy in his arms, and a cold smile appeared on his face. A stifled laughter rolled in his chest.
Suddenly, he raised his head, his eyes filled with cold killing intent, and the black mist enveloped the bald man.
The bald man’s expression turned fearful, his screams stuck in his throat, only making unpleasant creaking sounds.
With a loud bang, the car windows were covered in blood, flowing down in streaks.
Without hesitation and ignoring the people behind him, Fu Jingmo walked straight towards an SUV, carefully placing the boy in the passenger seat, then drove towards the stadium…
The SUV knocked over several staggering zombies and roared onto the road.
Red Scorpion also got into a car and followed closely behind. As they approached the stadium, Fu Jingmo knew their judgment was correct.
Because there was a protective net erected ten meters outside the stadium, and the open space ahead had been cleared, with hardly any zombies in sight.
In front of the stadium’s entrance stood a group of armed individuals, standing tall and upright, their identities self-evident.
When they saw the vehicle, they waved their hands, signaling for the car to turn off the engine and lights. Fu Jingmo parked the car outside the protective net.
Two soldiers approached to check and accepted the unharmed civilians, planning to evacuate together at daybreak.
Fu Jingmo rolled down the car window and looked at the young soldier, speaking in a cold voice, “I am Fu Jingmo from District 113 in Fengcheng. Please inform your commander that I need his cooperation.”
“113” was the external designation used by the secretive organization Fu Jingmo belonged to, but only officers and above knew that it referred to a special forces unit.
Fu Jingmo handed over his identification, and the soldier took a look, sizing up the person in front of him.
From head to toe, Fu Jingmo didn’t look like an ordinary soldier in terms of his aura. The two soldiers conferred for a moment, one opened the door to let him in, while the other went inside to report to their superiors.
“Wait a moment, I have a friend in the car,” he turned around and lifted Lin Mu horizontally, then walked steadily into the stadium.
Red Scorpion and the others followed closely behind. At this point, they also got out of the car and were taken to the examination room. As she passed by Fu Jingmo, Red Scorpion whispered a thank you.
Fu Jingmo was invited into a temporary reception hall. He placed Lin Mu on the sofa, and the soldier who had been following him hesitated to speak, “Your friend… wasn’t bitten, right?”
Fu Jingmo glanced at him sideways and coldly replied, “No, you should have a medical team. Please arrange for someone to give him a check-up.”
His mood was at its worst, and his face looked extremely unpleasant, causing the young soldier to dare not say another word.
He found some tissues and carefully wiped away the bloodstains from the corner of Lin Mu’s lips, then proceeded to clean his face.
Before this person could make arrangements, several individuals had already arrived at the door, with a military officer leading the way.
Fu Jingmo stood up, and the two of them saluted each other. The newcomer seemed to know Fu Jingmo’s identity.
“Second Lieutenant, hello. I am the commander here, Zhou He. We received a notification that if we encounter someone from District 113, we should do our best to cooperate and ensure your safety.”
The officer glanced behind Fu Jingmo and said to the person behind him, “Arrange for the medical team to come over.”
Fu Jingmo nodded and didn’t waste any more words. “Did you rescue anyone from Changyi High School?”
Zhou He turned to ask the soldier behind him, and the soldier handed him a booklet, having just finished counting the number of people.
“Most of the uninfected individuals from Changyi High School have already been evacuated from the city. The last group of teachers was evacuated this afternoon.”
Fu Jingmo adjusted his expression and asked, “Is there anyone named He Ze?”
The soldier shook his head and answered seriously, “Due to the urgency of the situation, we didn’t register names, only counted the number of people. If you need, I can go now and find out the situation. They are still in the stadium.”
Fu Jingmo nodded, and the soldier hurriedly went out. The arranged medical team had just arrived, so Fu Jingmo took a glance at Lin Mu and then left to discuss recent news with Zhou He.
The responsible doctor was a young woman. She came out to inquire briefly and was surprised to learn that Lin Mu was a plant variant. However, plant variants were extremely rare, making it difficult for them to have any reference points.
By the time Fu Jingmo finished his discussion and returned, the examination had already been completed, and the doctor was waiting in the reception room.
“Mr. Fu, your friend seems to exhibit some deviations from the characteristics of biological variants. In biological variants, humans fuse with organisms, resulting in biological features appearing on their bodies. More importantly, they retain only the consciousness of being human.”
The doctor paused for a moment, observed Fu Jingmo’s expression, and seeing nothing unusual, continued speaking.
“Our equipment here is rudimentary, so we can only confirm that there are no major issues with his body. It seems that his ability suddenly erupted beyond the limits of his body, causing excessive strain on his heart. He needs time to recover.”
“But I suggest that your friend… be sent to the safe zone for treatment.”
After uttering these words, the female doctor nervously looked at the formidable person in front of her.
A person fused with plants was incredibly valuable for current research. It could be said that Lin Mu was the first person to undergo plant fusion, making him exceptionally precious.
Fu Jingmo glanced at her askance, his gaze cold. These doctors and researchers, upon seeing Lin Mu, who had undergone plant fusion, undoubtedly wished to take him back with them.
As for treatment or research? Who knew?
He wouldn’t entrust Lin Mu to anyone he couldn’t fully trust.
Fu Jingmo sneered, “As long as you confirm he’s fine, that’s enough. I’ll take him to Fengcheng myself.”
The doctor pursed her lips, didn’t say anything more, administered nutrients to Lin Mu, and then left.
Lin Mu on the sofa had a pale complexion, his brows furrowed, appearing quite uncomfortable…
Fu Jingmo gently touched his soft hair, a hint of strangeness flashing through his mind.
— Don’t worry, I’ll help you find your friend, and I’ll take you to Fengcheng…
