Chapter 114: I Was Afraid a Dog Would Carry Him Off
“Weiwei, what are you doing?”
Lin Yue finished scolding Chu Nan and planned to return to her room to sleep, but she saw Bai Youwei squatting beside Zhao Ran.
At that moment she held a long strand of hair and swept it across Zhao Ran’s face with a mischievous grin.
He frowned and shook his head from side to side.
He still murmured indistinctly, as if he resisted the tickle on his face.
“Weiwei, what are you doing?”
Lin Yue could not help asking out loud.
The sudden voice startled Bai Youwei, who was immersed in her prank.
Bai Youwei hurriedly looked up, noticed it was Lin Yue, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
She patted her chest and said, “Oh, Aunt Yue, you scare me to death!”
“I was afraid a dog would carry him off, so I watched him here.”
Lin Yue heard this and could not help twitching the corner of her mouth.
This young lady truly made one laugh and cry at the same time.
In short, she had some conscience, but not much.
During idle chatter earlier, Bingbing already told her that Bai Youwei and Zhao Ran got their certificate long ago.
Yet judging from the scene before her, they seemed like strangers.
Lin Yue asked in confusion, “Weiwei, why don’t you help him back to the room?”
“I… I can’t move him.”
Bai Youwei spread her hands, her small face full of helplessness, as if saying she did not make things difficult on purpose.
Lin Yue compared their heights carefully and felt Bai Youwei’s words were indeed reasonable.
She was a delicate little cutie; how could she possibly move the one-meter-ninety Zhao Ran.
Yet it was also inappropriate for Lin Yue to support young Zhao Ran herself.
Helpless, she pulled out her phone and dialed skillfully.
The call connected quickly, and Lin Yue skipped the pleasantries and said, “Chu Nan, come back.”
Shortly after the call ended, Chu Nan walked back with a confused face.
Seeing Lin Yue standing at the doorway, he felt utterly baffled.
He wondered if she scolded him enough and planned to continue.
Lin Yue did not wait for him to speak; she pointed at the snoring Zhao Ran by the door and said, “Help him back to the room, then go back to sleep.”
When he frowned and looked unwilling, Lin Yue raised her voice and shouted, “Do you want me to climb Shudao Mountain!”
Chu Nan heard that and dared not slack off.
He hurried forward, lifted Zhao Ran, and said with a smile, “Come on, don’t be angry.”
“Zhao Ran is my sworn brother; as his big bro I should help him to bed.”
Lin Yue said irritably, “Good, I thought you were reluctant!”
“How could I!”
Chu Nan replied.
Soon Chu Nan managed to drag Zhao Ran into the room and laid him on the bed.
When they stepped out to close the door, they saw Bai Youwei follow them.
Lin Yue asked puzzled, “Weiwei, what are you doing?”
“I am going out with you!”
Bai Youwei blinked her big eyes, looking innocent.
Then she seemed to remember something and asked, “By the way, Aunt Yue, where do I sleep?”
“This is your room!”
Lin Yue pointed at the room behind her.
After speaking, she did not wait for Bai Youwei’s answer.
She quickly left with Chu Nan.
In Lin Yue’s view, they were husband and wife; sharing a bed was normal.
That was not her fault.
After all, Jiang Yubing only told her they already got the marriage certificate.
She did not mention the actual progress.
“Huh?”
Hearing this, Bai Youwei obviously froze.
She looked around the room; there was only a bed and nowhere else to sleep.
While thinking, her gaze unconsciously moved to the bed where Zhao Ran lay.
Aunt Yue surely did not want her to sleep in the same bed with that dead Zhao Ran?
Impossible!
She absolutely would not share a bed with that booze-reeking bad guy.
However…
Even without the alcohol smell, she still could not share a bed.
…
In another room.
Jiang Yubing looked at Shen Qingxuan, who lay on the bed with a tight frown, and felt full of resentment.
When he went out, she specially reminded him to drink less.
Yet he now came back dead drunk again.
He was a grown man; why did he never listen?
What angered her more was that he came back so late.
Did he not know someone at home worried about him?
Hmph, only because she had a good temper could she tolerate this idiot husband.
Anyone else would have kicked him to the second floor long ago.
Although Jiang Yubing thought so, her hands never stopped moving.
She picked up a towel, soaked it in the basin, wrung it dry, and gently wiped Shen Qingxuan’s face.
“Wife!”
Perhaps sensing the movement, Shen Qingxuan murmured softly.
Jiang Yubing paused her wiping hand when she heard him.
The resentment on her face melted into a smile.
“You still know I am your wife.”
Jiang Yubing spoke with feigned annoyance.
After that, she continued wiping Shen Qingxuan.
Although he gave no further response.
Just because of that one word, much of Jiang Yubing’s anger faded.
After she finished wiping his face and put everything back, she climbed onto the bed and lay beside Shen Qingxuan.
However, the smell of liquor on him was too strong.
It made Jiang Yubing feel uncomfortable.
So she did not lie too close.
…
Back to Bai Youwei.
She observed Zhao Ran at the bedside for a long time.
She saw he slept quietly with no strange movement.
After inner struggle, she still gritted her teeth, got on the bed, and lay carefully on her side.
Yet once she lay down, Bai Youwei could not fall asleep.
She simply stared straight at Zhao Ran’s profile.
She had to admit that this bad guy who always angered her was actually handsome.
The high nose bridge, the closed eyes, and the slight upward curve of his lips.
Bai Youwei could not help extending her finger and poked Zhao Ran’s cheek.
Sleeping Zhao Ran seemed to feel it; his eyelashes trembled slightly.
Bai Youwei noticed the tiny reaction and immediately felt playful.
She inched closer to Zhao Ran.
When she thought the distance was right, she pinched his cheek and tugged gently.
Feeling the soft flesh under her fingers, Bai Youwei giggled.
She muttered softly, “This bad guy has so much baby fat on his face.”
Just as she prepared to pinch again, Zhao Ran, who lay quietly, suddenly turned over.
In the next moment his long arm reached out and pulled her into his embrace.
The sudden move caught Bai Youwei completely off guard.
When she realized it, her face flushed red.
Her heart thumped wildly, and she grew extremely nervous.
Bai Youwei felt both shy and anxious.
She tried several times to struggle out of his arms, but Zhao Ran’s arm clamped her like iron.
Therefore all her efforts ended in failure.
