Chapter 5: Why Is Your Face That Color
Inside the private room.
At this moment, the place was already a complete mess.
Colored balloon fragments and used paper cups were scattered across the floor, along with a half-eaten cake.
It was clear that a wild celebration had just taken place.
Four girls stood up and picked up their belongings, obviously intending to leave.
They came to the cashier, and looked at the numbers on the bill.
The round-faced girl was the first to complain, “My god, I can’t believe it costs this much!”
“We just graduated, we don’t have much money to spend, what are we supposed to do now?”
As she spoke, she put on a look of utter despair.
“Yeah!”
The girl with glasses echoed her sentiment.
“That terrible Shen Qingxuan, he must have guessed we’d spend so much tonight, so he didn’t show up on purpose. That’s just too much!”
“Exactly, it must be that. He even says he likes our Yunshu, but when it matters, he’s not here.”
The last girl also chimed in.
The three of them acted as if this was completely justified.
Usually, when Shen Qingxuan brought breakfast or other little gifts for Chu Yunshu, he always bought a few extras.
With the idea that love for the house extended to the crows on its roof, he treated Chu Yunshu’s good friends very well too.
Chu Yunshu stood to the side, listening to their conversation, her face so dark it seemed water could drip off it.
She had been planning to save up for a new phone, and only needed a few hundred more, but after this birthday gathering tonight, she ended up spending a lot again.
Now, she didn’t know how long she would have to wait for that phone.
Thinking of this, she stomped her foot in anger.
“It’s all Shen Qingxuan’s fault!”
The cashier listened to the girls, rolled her eyes speechlessly.
They just treated others like free ATMs.
Now he missed a single party, and they started badmouthing him behind his back.
She really didn’t know how that boy could like these kinds of girls.
“Which of you is paying?”
The cashier asked impatiently.
Chu Yunshu noticed her three friends avoiding her gaze, and immediately understood.
She gritted her teeth and paid the bill.
“Yunshu, you can’t forgive him so easily this time.”
“Mm.”
After hurriedly saying goodbye to the three, Chu Yunshu couldn’t wait any longer. She pulled out her phone and opened Shen Qingxuan’s green bubble app.
She gazed at that familiar profile picture.
She snorted coldly.
Her fingers flew across the screen, sending an angry emoji.
Seeing the message send successfully, a proud smile curled at her lips, and she tossed her phone back into her bag, then walked home.
Every time she sent that angry emoji, Shen Qingxuan would try all sorts of ways to beg for her forgiveness.
This time would be no exception.
Hmph!
He was in for it!

Inside the elevator, Jiang Yubing pressed the button for the sixth floor.
The elevator rumbled as it went up.
Just as she opened Shen Qingxuan’s green bubble app, the chat pinned at the top, named “Chu Yunshu,” caught her eye.
Jiang Yubing felt a little ripple in her heart.
This must be the girl his mother mentioned, right?
Pinned at the top—she must be very important to him……
Was it his girlfriend?
After a few seconds, she shook her head.
Right now, she needed to let grandma know where she was, to set her mind at ease.
She was already so old, but still tired herself out searching for her.
Thinking about her reckless actions earlier, she was full of guilt.
Her eyes even got a bit misty.
Luckily, Shen Qingxuan rescued her in the end. That could be considered a stroke of luck in misfortune.
Jiang Yubing’s fingers unconsciously slid over the screen, and she absentmindedly opened Chu Yunshu’s chat window.
“Bingbing?”
The elderly woman on the other end grew worried after not hearing her speak.
“Grandma, I’m just looking here.”
After replying, Jiang Yubing opened the location function on the green bubble app, and used the location to tell grandma where she was.
After a few more questions, Jiang Yubing hung up the phone.
She long-pressed to delete the call log, and was about to close the app, when a notification tone from green bubble app sounded.
She glanced at it without thinking, and saw Chu Yunshu had sent an emoji.
Angry baby panda.jpg.
At that moment, the elevator reached the sixth floor.
“Ding!”
The elevator doors slowly opened.
Shen Qingxuan, who had been sitting at the entrance, heard the elevator and quickly came out of his room.
His place was at the end of the hallway, and on this floor there was only one other tenant besides him.
Although the neighbor didn’t stay here often, he couldn’t guarantee tonight would be an exception.
If Jiang Yubing knocked on the wrong door, he would need to waste time explaining.
So when Shen Qingxuan came upstairs, he changed into fresh clothes, and waited at the door, playing with his phone, waiting for Jiang Yubing.
The hallway was dim and without light, with only a sliver of illumination from the elevator.
The facilities in the old complex were run down, the light in the hallway had been broken for days, and nobody came to fix it.
Shen Qingxuan had just walked to the door when he saw Jiang Yubing coming out clutching a phone, with a look of suspicion on her face.
What was with that glowing green color?
Suddenly, Shen Qingxuan realized something and his heart jumped, he pointed at Jiang Yubing and blurted out, “You’re not planning to use my phone to play the stock market, are you?”
Damn!
So green. (Innocent~)
Maybe he would end up a negative-second-generation kid from this!
“No?”
Jiang Yubing replied reflexively.
A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, she didn’t expect Shen Qingxuan was waiting for her in the hallway, and a faint warmth filled her heart.
“Then why is your face that color?”
Shen Qingxuan frowned, pointing at the greenish glow on Jiang Yubing’s face and pressed further.
Jiang Yubing, who just thought Shen Qingxuan was a decent guy, now understood what he meant.
Thinking about how she had peeked at his chat logs, she couldn’t help but feel guilty.
Even though it was just a glance by accident, she still saw it after all.
Jiang Yubing knew all too well the shame of having her privacy invaded.
Since childhood, Madam Lin always liked to snoop through her things, and every time she found out, Jiang Yubing argued heatedly, but in the end, she was always defeated by, “I’m just doing this for your own good.”
What a shame…
Sigh!
At this, Jiang Yubing’s eyes reddened a little.
Because the hallway was so dark, Shen Qingxuan didn’t notice her unusual look.
“Let’s go.”
Seeing that Jiang Yubing was silent, he threw out those words lightly, then turned to walk ahead.
Jiang Yubing silently followed, not saying a word all the way, but her heart was full of tangled thoughts.
Did she have to apologize again?
Growing up, her family never let her get close to boys, but in other respects, they always gave her whatever she wanted.
The word “apology” never used to come out of her mouth.
Yet tonight, she had to apologize to a boy for the second time.
Forget it.
After all, she made the mistake.
As soon as she walked through the door, Jiang Yubing let out a quiet sob and said softly, “I’m sorry.”
Shen Qingxuan had just bent down, ready to pull out slippers from the shoe cabinet, when his hand paused full of confusion: Why did she suddenly apologize?
He straightened, handed the slippers to Jiang Yubing, and kept guessing in his heart.
Jiang Yubing felt a little awkward—this was her first time entering a boy’s home.
And she had to wear his slippers, too.
She heard that boys’ feet really stank. Wouldn’t she get athlete’s foot from borrowing his slippers?
As Jiang Yubing hesitated with the slippers, Shen Qingxuan hastily spoke.
“You didn’t see my study materials, did you?”
