Chapter 67: You Just Wanted Her Body
The next morning.
The dawn light still did not completely chase away the chill of the night.
Jiang Yubing got up early from the warm quilt.
She looked at the still-sleeping Shen Qingxuan, did not plan to wake him, and slipped out by herself.
Yesterday afternoon, Grandpa called from overseas and asked her to go to the company today to handle some affairs.
For Jiang Yubing, who scarcely set foot in clan business, this was both a challenge and a responsibility.
In front of the imposing building of Jiangbei Lu Group.
The Maybach rolled to a halt.
Jiang Yubing got out of the car, turned, and told Uncle Ling in the driver’s seat, “Uncle Ling, go back. If he wants to come, please bring him over.”
Uncle Ling nodded knowingly.
He certainly knew the “he” Miss spoke of meant Shen Qingxuan.
Jiang Yubing walked only a few steps.
Su Ya, dressed in a crisp business suit, spotted her first.
Su Ya hurried forward and greeted respectfully, “Miss.”
Jiang Yubing nodded slightly in reply.
She looked at Su Ya in front of her.
She roughly guessed that Grandpa probably arranged for Su Ya to assist her.
After all, she was not familiar with the company’s business at all.
Meanwhile.
Shen Qingxuan slowly woke up.
He instinctively reached to the side.
His hand touched only empty sheets.
He snapped fully awake, wearing a puzzled look.
Where did Bingbing go so early?
He sat up and rubbed his still-blurry head.
His eyes roamed the room, trying to find clues to Jiang Yubing’s whereabouts.
Yet he found nothing.
After tidying himself briefly, Shen Qingxuan dialed Jiang Yubing’s phone.
“Hey, Bingbing, where are you?”
“I’m at the company. Grandpa wants me to handle something.”
“If you want to come over, ask Uncle Ling to drive you.”
Jiang Yubing’s voice came from the other end.
The background buzzed with the busy noise of the company.
“Got it, I’ll head over once I wash up.”
Jiang Yubing hung up, feeling a little listless.
They stayed apart for only a short while.
She already missed that idiot husband a bit.
She wondered whether he was up yet.
Jiang Yubing sighed softly and walked into the meeting room under Su Ya’s guidance.
Inside the meeting room, several executives of the company already sat waiting.
When they saw Jiang Yubing enter, they all rose to greet her.
“Miss Jiang, the joint project with Sheng Lu Group ran into some issues. They put forward harsher terms on the cooperation details, and we need to draft a counter-plan quickly.”
The bespectacled Finance Manager, Chen Yu, spoke.
Jiang Yubing frowned slightly and listened attentively to Chen Yu’s report.
Although she felt a bit nervous inside.
She still worked hard to keep herself calm.
She knew she could not show weakness now.
She had to face these business veterans with a professional demeanor.
Su Ya timely handed over the files and whispered key data in Jiang Yubing’s ear.
Jiang Yubing flipped through the documents while thinking of countermeasures.
She occasionally raised her own questions and opinions.
Before long.
Shen Qingxuan already arrived at Jiangbei Lu Group by car.
He walked into the lobby and, not long after.
A crisp voice stopped him.
“Sir, excuse me, whom are you looking for?”
A receptionist in a professional suit and delicate makeup hurried over.
A polite smile played on her face, and her eyes carried a professional scrutiny.
Shen Qingxuan paused and blinked.
Truth be told, he knew Jiang Yubing’s family was rich.
Yet he had no idea what they actually did.
“I’m looking for Jiang Yubing.”
Shen Qingxuan spoke in an even tone.
The receptionist clearly froze, a trace of doubt flashing across her face.
She searched her mind quickly but still could not match that name with any employee in the company.
“I’m sorry, sir, no one by that name works here.”
She responded politely.
Shen Qingxuan raised a hand and scratched his head, wondering if he had come to the wrong place.
Just as he meant to ask whether this was Jiangbei Group, a familiar voice sounded softly behind him.
“Little Xuan?”
Shen Qingxuan jerked and turned reflexively.
At that sight, his expression froze in disbelief.
“Dad, why are you here?”
His voice rose involuntarily, his eyes full of surprise.
Standing before him was his own father, Shen Haiyang.
Shen Haiyang wore a well-pressed suit, his hair neatly combed, looking energetic.
At that moment, he glanced at Shen Qingxuan without much warmth and said, “I’m at work, stop asking nonsense.”
After speaking, he strode forward.
“Section Chief Shen, is this your son?”
The receptionist sounded astonished, her gaze switching between Shen Haiyang and Shen Qingxuan.
The two men shared several similar features, yet their temperaments were entirely different.
It truly made people curious about their relationship.
Shen Haiyang nodded slightly, acknowledging.
He then waved at Shen Qingxuan, signaling him to follow, and walked toward the elevator.
Shen Qingxuan wore a blank look and followed mechanically behind his father.
Chaos filled his mind; Dad always worked in the public sector, right?
Why did he suddenly become a section chief here?
The change was just too drastic.
“Dad, what’s going on?”
Shen Qingxuan finally asked, confusion lacing his voice.
Shen Haiyang did not turn his head and tossed back coldly, “Use job titles while we’re at work.”
Shen Qingxuan choked for a second, paused, and forced out, “Fine, Section Chief Shen.”
He felt a bit sullen, not understanding why his father suddenly acted so prim.
Shen Haiyang answered truthfully, “Bingbing’s family arranged it.”
Shen Qingxuan curled his lip. “Oh! So you’re using connections, huh!”
His tone carried a hint of teasing and indifference.
Shen Haiyang halted, turned, and looked at him with a half-smile. “Hey, you’re in no position to judge, you little leech.”
The words made Shen Qingxuan’s face flare red instantly.
“How can you talk about your son like that!”
Shen Qingxuan grew anxious and raised his voice, “What we have is true love, okay?”
Shen Haiyang snorted, folding his arms. “Love? You just lust after her body.”
“Besides, my daughter-in-law is filial, so what if I use some pull?”
After speaking, he turned and continued toward the elevator.
Shen Qingxuan remained standing in place, momentarily speechless.
He opened his mouth, wanting to retort.
Yet he realized his father’s words actually made some sense.
Helpless, Shen Qingxuan hurried to catch up with his father.
