Chapter 16: Enthralled by Him

After bidding farewell to the stream, the five of them piled into a car, heading towards Su Yan’s house.

“For the sake of everyone, Zhou Quan, you better keep your mouth shut,” Gao Lin retorted, showing no mercy.

Zhou Quan tried his best to argue, but Gao Lin used one hand to cover his mouth and the other to wrap around his neck, pulling him into his embrace, preventing him from saying a word.

Zhou Quan furrowed his brows and made a few “Ugh, ugh” sounds before finally giving up on speaking.

Lou Su, who was driving, noticed the commotion in the back and was a bit puzzled.

Su Yan couldn’t stop laughing in the back.

She turned on the lights and immediately rushed towards the master bedroom to look for her parents.

Zhou Quan saw a note on the coffee table. Just as he picked it up to call Su Yan out, he suddenly noticed the red marks underneath the note. He quickly tore off the bottom half and stuffed it into his pocket.

Chu Xihen, after looking around the house, happened to see Zhou Quan’s little action.

“Su Yan, come out quickly! Your parents left you a note,” Zhou Quan said, adjusting his emotions and excitedly calling out to Su Yan in the master bedroom.

Su Yan came out with red eyes and took the note from Zhou Quan’s hands.

“Your parents said they evacuated with the military. Now you can rest assured, right?” Zhou Quan asked with a smile.

“Yeah,” Su Yan wiped away her tears and nodded with a smile.

It was already very late, and they had eaten something. Besides, even if there was food in Su Yan’s house, it would have spoiled. The only good thing about being in the villa was probably not having to sleep in the wilderness.

“You can stay in any room upstairs or downstairs. I’ll go stay in the master bedroom. Even though I know my parents are safe, I still miss them a bit,” Su Yan said with a smile before entering the room.

Chu Xihen felt that Su Yan’s condition was a bit off. Perhaps, as she said, she missed her parents.

After Su Yan closed the door, Zhou Quan gathered the others together and whispered, “Something must have happened to Su Yan’s parents.”

As he spoke, he took out the torn piece of paper from his pocket and showed it to the other three.

That half of the note had dark red bloodstains on it.

It was likely that Su Yan’s parents left her the note after something happened to them. The bloodstains clearly showed signs of being wiped, but it still seemed too abnormal.

“I was afraid she would break down, so I secretly hid it. Did I do the wrong thing by doing this?” Zhou Quan asked Lou Su.

“It’s best to keep it from her if we can,” Lou Su didn’t think Zhou Quan had done anything wrong.

Now it was the apocalypse. Even if Su Yan’s parents were really safe, they might not be able to see each other again. It was better to let Su Yan think they were still alive and well.

“Zhou Quan and I will sleep on the sofa. You guys go to the room to sleep. I slept too much during the day and can’t sleep now. I’ll keep watch tonight, and I’ll wake you up if there’s any movement,” Gao Lin said to Lou Su.
