Chapter 33: The Sole Clearer
“Jin Li, why did we have to split up from them? We’re going in the same direction; it would be better to stick together and look after each other,” Han Chong couldn’t help but ask after following Bai Jinli some distance away.
Seeing that Bai Jinli’s expression wasn’t great, he quickly added, “I’m not questioning your abilities, okay? I know you’re strong and have amazing luck. You’re like a koi fish incarnate, but…”
“Lou Su probably hates me, right?” Bai Jinli suddenly interrupted Han Chong.
Han Chong hurriedly denied it. “How could that be? You’re so outstanding; how could he hate you?”
He was so anxious, as if he was the one being misunderstood by Bai Jinli.
Bai Jinli didn’t say anything. After all, he could sense it himself, and Han Chong wasn’t Lou Su, so his words didn’t count.
Seeing him like this, Han Chong anxiously tried to comfort him. “It’s not your fault. It’s all because of that Chu Xihen. The boss wanted to bring him, so there was no way to bring the two of us into the instance together. It’s okay. You’re so amazing; we can clear instances with anyone.”
It was a five-person team, but Han Chong was singling out Chu Xihen.
“It’s not Xihen’s fault. He’s Lou-ge’s boyfriend; it’s normal for them to enter the instance together,” Bai Jinli said, but he felt awful inside.
He didn’t understand why Lou Su was so good to Chu Xihen.
Now it was the apocalypse, and what was needed was strength. Chu Xihen was useless except for his face, but Lou Su insisted on being hung up on that one tree!
“He doesn’t deserve it,” Han Chong said viciously. “He’s lucky he even made it out of this instance alive!”
“Don’t say that. Lou-ge cares about him so much. If something happened to him, Lou-ge would definitely be heartbroken,” Bai Jinli said absentmindedly.
He looked up ahead. Under the scorching sun, there were no green plants left. All he could see was a stretch of scorched yellow, giving people a sense of desolation with no hope in sight.
“Jin Li, do you like the boss?” Han Chong suddenly asked.
Bai Jinli was stunned. Han Chong didn’t notice and took a step forward, getting blinded by the sunlight. Blisters appeared on his forehead, and he quickly retreated.
“I’m sorry. Your question startled me,” Bai Jinli quickly apologized, seeing that Han Chong was injured.
Han Chong waved his hand. “It’s okay; I’ll recover soon. I was thinking, if you like the boss, then let’s not leave. At worst, we just won’t enter the same instance as them. With Chu Xihen’s uselessness, he might die in the next instance. Then you’ll be the one by the boss’s side.”
Bai Jinli pursed his lips and remained silent for a long time before finally making up his mind. “Okay, let’s go back.”
Xia City
Ling Ji wanted to test the rules of the fixed team, so he separated from his teammates and went to a very distant place to enter an instance alone.
He cleared the instance, awakened his ability, and even got a very good skill. He was overjoyed, but as soon as he came out, he was face-to-face with a group of green-furred wolves.
Just as he finished killing the green-furred wolves, a swarm of beetles came. He fought and dodged, and finally reunited with his teammates, only to be greeted by even more mutated creatures.
They fought all night with their teammates. Seeing that the sun was about to rise, they wanted to find a house to hide in, but when they went inside, they saw poison taro spitting out venom. Fortunately, they dropped a Paper Umbrella at the end. The five big men huddled under a paper umbrella in grievance, and the scene was as comical as it could be.
Fortunately, the paper umbrella could be slightly enlarged according to the number of people, but the five of them had to be close together, so they couldn’t travel during the day and could only shrink under the paper umbrella and stay still.
“I’m exhausted! I’ve never been this tired in my life!” Ling Ji complained, leaning against his teammate Yang Yichen like a pile of mud.
Yang Yichen wore a black eye patch over his left eye, covering half of his face, but the remaining half of his face was still very handsome. He was also exhausted, and sweat kept dripping from his face, but he didn’t push Ling Ji away.
“Now is the time to take a breather. Tell us about your situation in the instance alone. Your lightning skill is good and very practical for killing mutated creatures,” Yang Yichen’s voice was low and slow, giving people a sense of security.
They were originally a fixed five-person team. Because Ling Ji ran out alone to enter an instance with others, the four of them were worried to death in the instance, afraid that he wouldn’t be able to get out.
Unexpectedly, this guy not only came out alive, but also activated the lightning ability and came with a skill.
“Good luck, I met a big shot in the instance. I was carried all the way, and I didn’t even figure out what this instance was all about in the end.” This made Ling Ji, who was good at analysis, feel like he wasn’t really experiencing the game.
However, the game experience was not worth mentioning compared to staying alive, so he was still very grateful to Chu Xihen.
“What kind of big shot is he, even more powerful than Brother Yang?” A teenager wearing a baseball cap next to him asked curiously.
Yang Yichen also turned his head and stared at Ling Ji.
“They haven’t competed, so I can’t say for sure, but I think he should also be a game survivor. He knows a lot about this instance and avoids all the dangers directly.” Throughout the entire instance, for forty-eight hours, apart from a few reminders in the middle, Ling Ji only saw Chu Xihen pulling a bow in mid-air at the last moment, killing the poison taro with three arrows at once.
If you said he was very powerful, you didn’t see more of his methods. If you said he wasn’t powerful, he could lead a few of them to clear the instance without any injuries.
“Game survivor? What are his characteristics?” As soon as he heard that he was a game survivor, Yang Yichen became interested.
He was also a game survivor and had cleared many instances. He believed that he knew a lot about other survivors. Even if he hadn’t met them, he had at least heard of their names.
“Characteristics?” Ling Ji thought for a while, “Especially annoying!”
Yang Yichen looked at him speechlessly. What kind of characteristic was that?
The teenager next to him also reminded him, “Brother Ling, tell us properly.”
“Oh, right, he has a particularly obvious characteristic, that is, he wears a fox mask as soon as he enters an instance. He didn’t tell us his name either. We all call him Brother Fox,” Ling Ji said and asked Yang Yichen, “Do you have any impression?”
Yang Yichen frowned. “You may have met a real big shot. I haven’t seen him, but I heard that the only big shot who cleared the game likes to wear a mask, but I’m not sure if it’s a fox mask.”
“Really? Could I have met the number one big shot in the first instance?” Ling Ji thought this was a bit mysterious.
His luck couldn’t be this good!
And he thought that Brother Fox was very powerful, but not to that extent, right?
“Do you think Brother Fox might have just heard about a game survivor who likes to wear a mask, so he imitated it when this instance was restarted?” Ling Ji said, “People have vanity.”
“That’s not impossible,” Yang Yichen said.
