Chapter 47: Someone is Watching
“Why did he suddenly stop moving? Did he run out of energy?” Ling Yao asked, puzzled.
The man did look a little tired, but not so tired that he would immediately be unable to run. Besides, just a moment ago, he was begging them for help. Did he suddenly decide he didn’t want to live?
But they didn’t have much time to think because the man suddenly died, and the Flame Gold Lion’s target automatically switched to them.
“Brother Lou, Brother Chu, don’t be afraid. Let me control it!” Ling Yao stretched out two fingers, striking a melodramatic pose as if he were about to chant a magic spell.
But in reality, using his ability didn’t require such flashy theatrics.
However, before his ability could activate, Chu Xihen grabbed his hand and pushed it down. “What level is it, and what level are you? Do you want to die? Go ahead and try to control it!”
Ling Yao had gotten cocky after controlling a single Green-Fur Wolf, thinking he could control anything. He didn’t even look at the size of this Flame Gold Lion! Even the tip of its tail was bigger than an elite Green-Fur Wolf!
“No way, I was just kidding. I knew Brother Chu would stop me,” Ling Yao said, immediately hiding behind Chu Xihen.
His courage was only a little bigger than a needle tip. How could he possibly rush to the front in such a dangerous situation?
“Earth Prison!” Wang Heng touched the ground with one hand. As his voice fell, an earthen cage rose around the Flame Gold Lion, trapping its enormous body inside.
Wang Heng possessed an earth-attribute ability, combined with a special cage skill. By combining the two, he created the Earth Prison that now held the Flame Gold Lion.
Although the cage looked like it was made of mud, it was sturdier than steel.
Seeing that he had the Flame Gold Lion contained, Ding Hui immediately launched five ice spikes. Her target wasn’t the lion, but the cage Wang Heng had created.
After the ice spikes struck the cage, it instantly melted into mud and expanded rapidly, enveloping the entire Flame Gold Lion in the blink of an eye.
It looked like the layer of poisonous liquid surrounding a Devil’s Tongue Arum, turning the Flame Gold Lion into a mud sculpture.
Melting was Ding Hui’s special skill. Like Wang Heng, she combined her skill with her awakened water-attribute ability and coordinated with Wang Heng’s Earth Prison.
Although Ding Hui used her skill to melt the cage, the hardness of the mud shell surrounding the Flame Lion didn’t change. It even became airtight, enough to suffocate anything inside.
Only then did Wang Heng and his wife have a chance to catch their breath, quickly walking towards Lou Su and the others.
Seeing this, Chu Xihen retracted the arrow he was about to fire.
“Don’t worry, big brothers. That lion is as good as dea…” Before Wang Heng could finish the last word, they heard a cracking sound.
Chu Xihen drew his bow again. “Lou Su, coordinate with me.”
He thought Wang Heng and Ding Hui’s methods would be somewhat effective, but he didn’t expect them to last even a minute.
“Impossible, right?” Wang Heng couldn’t believe what he was seeing, and Ding Hui also began to doubt her abilities.
Chu Xihen explained to them, “Your abilities are earth and water attributes, while the Flame Gold Lion has metal and fire attributes. It’s normal that you can’t counter it.”
Not only were they unable to counter it in terms of attributes, but they were also crushed in terms of level.
The shell on the Flame Gold Lion started to crack from the head first. Chu Xihen aimed precisely at the space between its eyebrows and fired dozens of arrows in quick succession.
His speed was so fast that others couldn’t even see it with their naked eyes. They only saw the Flame Lion being pushed back again and again.
The Flame Lion’s defense was extremely high. Chu Xihen’s first dozen arrows didn’t cause any damage to it. Only the force of the arrows made it retreat slightly in small arcs.
However, Chu Xihen’s archery was extraordinary. Even as the Flame Lion swung its body, he could still shoot every arrow at the same spot.
He seemed to have known all along that the Flame Lion’s skin was thick, so he unleashed dozens of arrows in rapid succession from the start.
Chu Xihen shot a pile of arrows in just a few dozen seconds because the arrows that didn’t injure the Flame Lion fell to the ground and piled up, and everyone saw them.
Only the last arrow firmly pierced the space between the Flame Lion’s eyebrows, but it only penetrated the arrowhead.
But this was enough for Lou Su.
“Lou Su, move!” Chu Xihen shouted.
Almost the instant he spoke, Lou Su used his Instant Kill skill.
Fearing level suppression, Lou Su added his wind-attribute ability at the same time, to ensure Instant Kill could kill the Flame Lion.
Therefore, his Instant Kill skill went out with a wind blade, directly obliterating half of the Flame Gold Lion’s head.
The lion collapsed with a crash, and the mud shell that hadn’t fully cracked was completely crushed, revealing its entire body. The raging flames also disappeared with it.
After killing the Flame Gold Lion, Ling Yao’s first action was to look up at the score in the sky.
“Wow, this lion is worth a whole thousand points!” Ling Yao shouted excitedly.
The others were also happy to hear this. Lou Su walked towards Chu Xihen.
Chu Xihen’s position had changed with the Flame Gold Lion’s movements when shooting arrows, and now they were a little far apart.
Just as he walked in front of Chu Xihen, the other party suddenly raised his hand and drew his bow at him. An arrow grazed past his ear.
Lou Su paused, slowly turning his head to look in the direction the arrow had come from.
Ling Yao and the other two were startled by Chu Xihen’s action, but after waiting for a while and not seeing Lou Su get angry, they assumed it was just a lovers’ spat and didn’t say much.
But then they heard Chu Xihen say, “Someone is spying over there.”
As he spoke, Lou Su had already turned around and ran towards that direction.
Ling Yao and the others followed closely behind. They searched for a long time and didn’t see the arrow Chu Xihen had shot, but they saw splatters of blood on a tree.
“Could it be that guy surnamed Guan?” Ling Yao guessed randomly.
Lou Su looked at the traces on the grass. “There shouldn’t be anyone else besides him.”
Currently, only Guan Yu had been watching them.
“Even after getting hit by an arrow, he can still run so fast? This is a little unreasonable.” Wang Heng said, “With such speed, he shouldn’t have been hit by an arrow in the first place.”
Chu Xihen knew his archery skills best. Wang Heng wasn’t wrong at all.
Moreover, judging from the blood on the tree, the other party was most likely shot in the chest. With such a serious injury, even if he didn’t die on the spot, he should have fallen nearby.
But this person who was shot disappeared as if into thin air.
“Brother Chu, you’re knowledgeable. Is there any ability that can turn someone invisible?” Ling Yao asked.
“Yes.” Chu Xihen nodded. After saying that, he saw Wang Heng and Ding Hui staring at him strangely, so he added a word, “Maybe?”
The couple: “…”
Lou Su interjected, “Of course there is. Abilities are strange and varied. There’s a lot we haven’t seen.”
“If the other party can turn invisible, does that mean he’s still nearby?” Wang Heng said, taking out a dagger from his shopping bag and waving it around randomly in the air.
The way he was acting, he wouldn’t find anything even if he cut off his hand.
Chu Xihen didn’t sense the aura of anyone else nearby, but to reassure his teammates, and because there were some other species in the bushes, he directly took out the card with the remaining arrows that he had used half of.
He threw the card into the air and said in a low voice, “Myriad Arrows.”
All the remaining arrows in the card flew out, clearing a large area.
Ling Yao and the couple Wang Heng didn’t know that Chu Xihen had a card called $$Myriad Arrows], and they were all amazed by this move.
Only Lou Su frowned and said, “He ran away.”
