Chapter 13
Shen Beichuan raised his eyebrows, looked at Sheng Huan with cold eyes, and a faint sneer appeared at the corner of his mouth, “Friend?”
Sheng Huan’s back instantly stiffened, and he tried to maintain that respectful smile, speaking in a gentle tone:
“Yes, I have two friends coming from Shanghai and have nowhere to stay for the time being. Can they stay in the guesthouse for one night?”
Shen Beichuan did not answer immediately, but narrowed his eyes slightly and slowly approached her, “Two friends? That’s really rare guests. Are you sure they will only stay for one night?”
Sheng Huan’s fox eyes narrowed slightly, she knew that Shen Beichuan had something to say, but she still maintained a gentle smile: “Of course, just one night is fine.”
Shen Beichuan’s eyes were fixed on her without blinking, and he suddenly turned around and said in an unclear tone: “Since you are my friend, you must also treat me well.”
Sheng Huan breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that he agreed. However, the next second, Shen Beichuan’s words made her heart sink again.
“Staying in a guesthouse is no big deal, but it’s best to be careful with friends. Otherwise, everyone will be watching and it’s easy for people to misunderstand you.” His words were neither light nor heavy, but every word seemed to remind her of something.
Sheng Huan almost couldn’t keep the smile on his face. His heart tightened and he felt like he was hanging in mid-air, neither going up nor down.
But she had seen a lot of storms, so she pretended to be calm and smiled: “Brother Beichuan is right, friends should be careful about their distance.”
Shen Beichuan glanced at her with a half-smile, then turned his gaze to the guard Han next to him: “Han Shu, arrange for them to go to the guesthouse.”
“Yes, Captain!” Han Shu saluted and turned to leave.
Sheng Huan was delighted.
However, Shen Beichuan suddenly turned around, his eyes were cold, and he said in a light tone: “You are really good at acting, a good daughter-in-law of the Shen family.”
His tone was full of sarcasm, as if he had known for a long time that she and Jiang Yuchi were more than just friends.
But Sheng Huan is a person who won’t cry until she sees the coffin. As long as he doesn’t make it clear, she will not admit it.
The woman stared at the man’s stern outline with her fox eyes, blinked her big, watery eyes, and looked innocent:
“Thank you for the compliment. I told you before, if I want to pretend to be gentle with you, I have to know how to act.”
Shen Beichuan snorted lightly, as if he was not satisfied with Sheng Huan’s answer, his eyes were as cold as a knife.
He raised his chin slightly, his eyes drifting towards Jiang Yuchi who was not far away, his tone still indifferent: “Don’t change the subject, that’s your friend?”
Sheng Huan followed his gaze and saw Jiang Yuchi looking towards them with a look of inquiry and curiosity.
The woman’s heart was filled with turmoil, and she felt like she couldn’t hold on any longer. She bit her lip, forced a smile, nodded, and replied, “Yes.”
Little liar!
Shen Beichuan was silent for a moment, then said expressionlessly: “I’m still wondering, when you said you had someone in your heart before, were you referring to him?”
After the words were spoken, the air stagnated.
In a flash, Sheng Huan came to a conclusion: Shen Beichuan had long known about the relationship between the original owner and Jiang Yuchi.
“Shen Beichuan, do you know?” Sheng Huan raised his eyes and looked directly at him, not pretending anymore, and asked directly.
“I knew it a long time ago.” Shen Beichuan’s tone was surprisingly calm without any ripples. “So don’t pretend to be a ‘friend’ with me. I’m not interested.”
“…” Sheng Huan’s mouth twitched. It turned out that the original owner and his family lived their own lives, really each lived their own lives.
There are millions of damn words in my throat.
She was just afraid that Shen Beichuan would know about their relationship, so she tried hard to lie, but then she realized that the clown was actually herself.
Shen Beichuan’s expression remained calm, and his voice was indifferent:
“However, I still have to remind you that before we get divorced, it’s best to sort out certain relationships.
Although we have agreed to live our own lives, please don’t be too conspicuous. If something goes wrong, not only will you be embarrassed, but I will also have to bear the consequences. “
When Sheng Huan heard this, he almost couldn’t help laughing out loud.
She sensed something behind these words – did this mean that she could find a man, but she must not let anyone find out?
His indifferent attitude seemed as if everything had nothing to do with him, but the threat and coldness in his words made her shudder.
“I will make everything clear with him, and we will no longer have anything to do with each other.” She stated her attitude with determination in her eyes.
She originally wanted to make things clear with Jiang Yuchi. In comparison, she knew how to judge the situation better and was not obsessed with love.
If she had to choose between the two men, she would choose Shen Beichuan, who could not be humane but could still give her money to spend. Firstly, they were a legal couple.
Secondly, when she was drinking with Qin Chaoyang that night, she learned a lot about Shen Beichuan’s family background. As the saying goes, a good family background can save ten years of hard work, and it is good for her to have the title of Shen’s daughter-in-law.
“Explain it thoroughly?” Shen Beichuan raised his lips almost imperceptibly, with a subtle fluctuation in his eyes, “Then you’d better hurry up, don’t make me wait too long.”
Sheng Huan narrowed his fox eyes and asked provocatively: “Are you warning me?”
Shen Beichuan didn’t rush to answer, his hands were casually in his pockets, his posture was straight, but his eyes gradually became darker, with a complex emotion that was hard to guess.
“You can understand it that way.”
Sheng Huan’s red lips slightly raised, and a hint of pride flashed in the fox’s eyes: “So, you care about me?”
Shen Beichuan laughed, “You are so shameless. I just don’t want to hear from others that you cheated on me during the continuation of our marriage.”
Sheng Huan sarcastically said, “Officer Shen, you are so generous.”
Shen Beichuan said nothing, but just looked at her deeply.
Sheng Huan smiled, narrowed his eyes, and said in a soft but teasing voice: “Don’t worry, I won’t cheat on you.”
Shen Beichuan’s eyes stayed on her face for a moment, as if thinking about the truth of her words, and then gently raised the corners of his mouth: “I hope you can do what you said.”
Sheng Huan nodded slightly: “Of course.”
The atmosphere of confrontation between the two seemed to have reached a certain balance at this moment, and no one spoke again.
In the distance, Jiang Yuchi seemed to notice that their conversation was a little strange, and was about to come over, but Sheng Huan quietly leaned towards Shen Beichuan, pretending to smile intimately and said:
“Since you don’t want to be cuckolded, let’s play a loving couple. I don’t want to have any more contact with Jiang Yuchi. Can you help me?”
Shen Beichuan was slightly stunned, and looked at her deeply, and suddenly felt a little sympathy for Jiang Yuchi, because he and he shared the same pain.
“You are really heartless. You fall in love with everyone you meet. Who will be the man that can catch your comrade Sheng’s eye next time?” Shen Beichuan sneered. He did not reject her approach. Instead, he took her hand and interlocked their fingers.
Sheng Huan looked up at his stern eyebrows, then at his high nose bridge and rosy red lips, and curved his red lips.
“Of course it’s Captain Shen.”
He sneered and said coldly: “Don’t even think about it.”
Sheng Huan was not annoyed, but smiled even more, “Captain Shen, you must want to be a loving couple with me!”
“You are so self-indulgent…” Before Shen Beichuan finished speaking, her arm was pinched hard by her. This little force was like a tickle to him, and he didn’t even frown.
“Okay, I’m just being sentimental. I just like you. Please think about it.” Sheng Huan smiled coquettishly and pointed to the arm where she had left nail marks. “This is my token of love!”
“…” Shen Beichuan let out a low laugh from his throat and pursed his lips. He didn’t want to say another word to this fickle liar who never spoke a word of truth.
