Chapter 21: Heaven-Sent
School had already ended, and a few students entered the infirmary, glancing in their direction.
The school nurse, sensing her embarrassment, led them to a private room before going out to attend to the other students.
With the door closed, only the two of them remained in the room.
Aware of people outside, her crying gradually softened into quiet sobs.
But there was still no sign of it stopping.
After going through several tissues, Jiang Chiyu conceded first: “I’m sorry, I was wrong.”
Su Tian: “Wuu… you, you didn’t do anything wrong, I was the one who was wrong, wuu.”
“I was wrong to speak to you so harshly, I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” Jiang Chiyu, thinking she was being sarcastic, sighed and ruffled her hair.
“No.” Su Tian took the tissue from his hand and wiped her own tears and nose, “It really was my fault. I knew I couldn’t eat spicy snacks, but I still did. I know I was wrong.”
“?” Jiang Chiyu raised an eyebrow.
“I regret it too, I’ll never eat them again. If I do, I’m a dog.” Su Tian’s crying gradually stopped, and she blew her nose one last time. She sat meekly on the infirmary bed, her eyes and face both red.
Jiang Chiyu hadn’t expected her to genuinely reflect on her actions. He smiled and, as if addicted to the gesture, ruffled her hair again. “As long as you understand. Go wash your face, I’ll walk you home.”
“You’re quite smooth with words.” Su Tian pouted and gave him a strange look. “You’re walking that way home anyway.”
Jiang Chiyu pulled her arm to help her stand, not forgetting to remind her, “You were the one who said I had a smooth mouth this afternoon.”
“…” Having finished crying, Su Tian felt a bit embarrassed. She gently freed herself from his hand and walked toward the sink.
Just as she was about to turn on the tap, Jiang Chiyu suddenly stopped her and walked toward the door. “Wait, let me ask the nurse if it’s okay for your face to get wet.”
Su Tian paused. There was a small mirror by the sink. She picked it up to look at herself and found that apart from patches of redness and a few small bumps, there were no signs of swelling.
She definitely hadn’t swollen up like a pig’s head!
Jiang Chiyu had lied to her again!
Shortly after, Jiang Chiyu returned. “You can wash your face, but use warm water. There’s no warm water here, so wait until you get home.”
At the mention of home…
Su Tian became timid again, her shoulders drooping as she looked pleadingly at the young man standing at the door.
Jiang Chiyu’s long lashes flickered as he looked up. “What is it?”
“Could you… not tell my parents…”
Jiang Chiyu chuckled softly, crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe. “Do I need to? Your allergic reaction is visible from ten meters away.”
“Not about that.” Su Tian knew she couldn’t hide it, and mumbled, “…about the reason.”
Mom was already angry with her, and if she found out she’d secretly eaten spicy snacks and ended up like this…
Su Tian bit her lower lip.
Jiang Chiyu seemed to be considering it, staying silent for a moment.
“If you don’t tell, I can pay you!” Su Tian offered to sweeten the deal.
“Do I look like a gangster or someone desperate for money?” Jiang Chiyu was both annoyed and amused.
Su Tian realized he had a point, so she changed her offer from money to goods. “Then I’ll treat you to a meal.”
Afraid he might say something about looking like he needed a free meal, Su Tian quickly added, “Or I’ll owe you a favor – I can fulfill any request you have in the future.”
Jiang Chiyu blinked, appearing somewhat interested.
Su Tian suddenly felt a bit regretful, thinking she might have promised too much, so she added another condition: “It has to be something I can actually do, nothing illegal or against personal or social ethics, and nothing too unreasonable.”
“Those are quite strict requirements,” Jiang Chiyu said with a half-smile.
Su Tian muttered quietly, “Well, it’s not like you’d actually ask me to commit murder or arson.”
“Let’s go,” Jiang Chiyu picked up her schoolbag and handed her the face mask he’d bought earlier.
“Miss Pollen Allergy Su Tian.”
…
Jiang Chiyu accompanied her to the Su family home.
Sure enough, when Mom saw her face, red even through the mask, she immediately started lecturing. Mr. Su interrupted her, “Ah Yu is here too, let them come in first. Tian Tian, what happened to your face?”
Su Tian didn’t dare speak, glancing at Jiang Chiyu, who explained that she had accompanied him to the office where she had an allergic reaction to some flowers, even mentioning a specific flower name she’d never heard of.
In any case, Jiang Chiyu looked so composed that everything he said seemed completely believable.
Even Su Tian believed it herself.
Jiang Chiyu handed over the medicine, explaining to Mr. Su the dosage, usage, and precautions.
Mr. Su noted everything down.
Su Tian stood there like a speechless baby, letting them take care of her.
Obediently serving as background decoration.
Suddenly, Mrs. Su interrupted them, looking at Su Tian, “Why aren’t you speaking for yourself?”
“Have you lost your tongue?”
“Is this how I taught you?”
Mr. Su pushed her gently, somewhat reproachfully, “What are you saying? The child is already in this state.”
Su Tian was used to it. She pressed her lips together, not saying a word.
She just felt… embarrassed.
Especially in front of Jiang Chiyu.
Jiang Chiyu stepped in at the right moment, “Uncle, Auntie, it’s mainly my responsibility. Tian Tian only got the allergy because she was showing me the way to the office.”
With an outsider present, Mrs. Su held back further comments, temporarily suppressing her anger about the exam scores as well.
After chatting a while longer, Su Tian went to wash her face and apply medicine, accompanied by her father. Mrs. Su saw Jiang Chiyu out.
That evening, the long-quiet No. 1 High School forum saw a new discussion thread.
—Does Heaven-Sent’s Deskmate Like Heaven-Sent?
After the ID “Xu Xu Xu” had posted earlier calling the transfer student “heaven-sent school heartthrob,” these four characters became his exclusive nickname. Because it was too long, regular forum users shortened it to just “Heaven-Sent.”
Someone quickly replied:
Second Floor: “Does the OP like Heaven-Sent?”
After ten minutes with no response from the original poster, only this comment’s likes kept rising.
Finally, the OP replied: “…I’m male, thanks.”
Second Floor responded: “Oh, so you’re gay.”
The likes skyrocketed again.
A minute later, the post disappeared.
Another minute passed, and a new post appeared on the forum: “Heard Heaven-Sent Went to the Infirmary with His Deskmate Today”
Second Floor: “Pregnant?”
Third Floor: “……. For f*ck’s sake, what kind of idiot are you, upstairs? If you’re pregnant, would you go to the school infirmary with your puppy love partner?”
This comment was followed by a flood of “hahahahahaha”s.
Soon, the second-floor commenter deleted their post.
But someone had already taken a screenshot and posted it in the thread for everyone to mock.
The thread “Heard Heaven-Sent Went to the Infirmary with His Deskmate Today” quickly devolved into a roast of the second-floor commenter.
The original poster waited a while, and unable to stand it anymore, replied to their own post: “I heard that with about ten minutes left before class ended, Heaven-Sent suddenly stood up and left. After a while, his deskmate also left. Then someone saw them going to the infirmary together.”
