Chapter 24: That’s Also a Normal Reaction
Su Tian turned her head away angrily, ignoring him.
The person behind her gently tugged at her braid again.
“Don’t be shy.”
Su Tian was determined not to speak to him until they got off the bus.
“That was also a normal reaction.”
“…”
The person behind her seemed to have gotten addicted to playing with her hair, tugging at it here and there. Su Tian let out a breath and leaned forward, draping her two braids over her chest, keeping them out of his reach.
If possible, she wished she could close her ears.
Or tie Jiang Chiyu’s mouth into a dead knot.
Their home wasn’t far from the amusement park. The bus arrived quickly at the stop, and after the announcement sound, Su Tian got off.
Jiang Chiyu followed her off the bus.
After getting off, he put his mask back on.
Su Tian glanced at him. Keeping her promise to talk to him once they got off the bus, she asked, “Can I ask you something? Why do you wear a mask every day?”
Su Tian had once overheard two male students discussing this question when passing by them after class.
One student asked: “That Jiang Chiyu from the next class, why does he wear a mask every day?”
The other student rolled his eyes dramatically, “He’s trying to look cool to attract girls.”
Su Tian thought it wasn’t necessary.
That face would attract more girls without the mask.
Jiang Chiyu seemed caught off guard by her question. He shot her a lazy, sidelong glance.
Seeing his expression, Su Tian knew whatever he was about to say wouldn’t be serious.
Sure enough—
“Too many people stare at me, got to block some of it out.”
Su Tian gritted her teeth, “People looking at you doesn’t cost you anything.”
Jiang Chiyu glanced at her, suddenly smiling, “Now you’re defending them.”
He continued: “Hey, Xiao Tian Tian, you’re not one of them, are you?”
Su Tian was disgusted by the words “Xiao Tian Tian,” shuddered all over, and turned to walk toward the amusement park.
She decided not to talk to him again until they reached the amusement park!
Narcissist!
Jiang Chiyu followed leisurely behind her, maintaining a three-step distance.
“Are you angry? It was just a joke.”
Su Tian didn’t respond.
“Alright, I’ll stop teasing you.” Jiang Chiyu dropped his casual tone and became more serious. Not caring whether she was listening or not, he said: “Wearing a mask became a habit when I was in England. The weather in my area was quite unpleasant, with rain and wind being the norm. I didn’t pay much attention at first, but after getting the flu a few times, I started bundling up more.”
Su Tian had been listening and couldn’t help saying: “But you don’t need to wear it now. Our city has suitable weather and good air quality.”
“True.” Jiang Chiyu smiled, hooking one side of the mask strap to take it off, “I just got used to grabbing one whenever I go out.”
Su Tian didn’t turn around, but she could hear the change in Jiang Chiyu’s voice and smiled happily.
After walking a while longer, they were walking side by side.
Zhou Ying had arrived early and was standing at the amusement park entrance. She saw them from far away and waved.
Su Tian waved back, ran over, and looked around, “The other two haven’t arrived yet?”
Zhou Ying greeted Jiang Chiyu, then nodded, “Han Shuo lives far away, but he should be here soon. Wei Sicheng is nearby.”
“Why is Han Shuo making you wait?”
Zhou Ying looked at her watch and smiled sweetly, instinctively defending him, “We just arrived early, it’s not even the agreed time yet.”
Su Tian gave her a contemptuous look, “Wasn’t it you who said that for dates, guys should arrive half an hour earlier than girls?”
Zhou Ying shrugged, “This is different. What you’re talking about is when a guy likes a girl. In my case, I like him, but he probably doesn’t like me as much as I like him. So it’s fine if I arrive early.”
Su Tian gave her a thumbs up.
Jiang Chiyu stood beside them listening to their conversation, looking thoughtful.
After speaking, Zhou Ying looked Su Tian up and down, touching her clothes and pulling her hair, “Tian Tian, you look really pretty today. The school uniform sealed away at least half of your beauty.”
Su Tian smiled and hooked her chin, careful not to touch her lightly made-up face, “Not as pretty as you.”
Just then, they heard someone calling from afar, “Su Tian, Zhou Ying!”
Looking back, Wei Sicheng was standing across the street, holding a large plastic bag in one hand, waving at them.
Jiang Chiyu raised his eyes briefly, then quickly looked away.
Wei Sicheng’s gaze swept over them, pausing when he saw Jiang Chiyu, and he rubbed his eyes.
He crossed the street, looking at Jiang Chiyu several times with a somewhat surprised expression.
Jiang Chiyu casually met his gaze and curved his lips slightly, even smiling at him.
The smile didn’t reach his eyes.
At three in the afternoon, when the sun was at its peak, Wei Sicheng had worked up a light sweat running over.
Su Tian happened to have tissues and handed him two.
Wei Sicheng smiled at her, “Thanks.”
He opened the plastic bag and took out two milk teas from among the ice cubes, checking the labels before handing them to Su Tian and Zhou Ying.
Zhou Ying exclaimed, “Wow, Wei Sicheng, are you Doraemon?”
Wei Sicheng: “Your milk green tea, and yours is hot milk tea with ice and…”
“Stop!” Su Tian interrupted him, “Thank you!”
She hadn’t forgotten that Jiang Chiyu was still beside them.
This guy would take any chance to tease her.
Wei Sicheng took another drink from the ice and held it out to Jiang Chiyu, his expression slightly complicated, “Here you go, classmate. Since I didn’t know what others like to drink, I bought regular lemonade.”
Zhou Ying stood beside them biting her straw, turning her head away, unable to watch anymore.
It was her fault. When Jiang Chiyu had turned his head to ask her for a ticket, his looks had been too striking, and in her confusion, she had given him the ticket.
Completely forgetting there was still a Wei Sicheng in the group.
When she remembered later, she specifically told Wei Sicheng about it, making it seem like there wasn’t anymore going on between Jiang Chiyu and Su Tian. She was worried Wei Sicheng might overthink it.. But she couldn’t exactly ask for Jiang Chiyu’s ticket back.
Zhou Ying quietly lowered her head like an ostrich, thinking it was Wei Sicheng who said he didn’t care who else came as long as Su Tian was going.
However, there probably really wasn’t anything between Jiang Chiyu and Su Tian, right? She had just seen Jiang Chiyu smile friendly at Wei Sicheng.
Except for Su Tian herself, everyone else should be able to see that Wei Sicheng likes her.
She wouldn’t be able to smile at a love rival like that.
Jiang Chiyu smiled politely but didn’t take the lemonade Wei Sicheng offered, apologizing, “I’m sorry, you all enjoy it. I’m allergic to lemons.”
Su Tian hadn’t opened her milk tea yet, and when she heard this, she paused, “You’re allergic to lemons?”
Jiang Chiyu glanced at her and nodded.
Su Tian was delighted, “So you have things you’re allergic to and can’t eat too, that’s great!”
Everyone looked at her.
Su Tian slowly pressed her lips into a straightline, and as if to make up for her mistake, she voluntarily offered her milk tea, “Then let’s swap. You can have mine, I haven’t started drinking it yet.”
