Chapter 30: Run!
Jiang Chiyu was also squatting, his posture not very stable. When Su Tian fell onto him, he was knocked to the ground as well, barely stabilizing himself by bracing his hands against the floor.
Su Tian didn’t react as quickly as he did, and her head directly collided with Jiang Chiyu’s shoulder. The impact left her dizzy with stars dancing before her eyes. She lay stunned on top of Jiang Chiyu for a while, unable to get up. Jiang Chiyu let out a muffled groan but still quickly raised one hand to protect her forehead.
Zhou Ying also witnessed this scene and hurried over to help her up. Han Shuo called out to Wei Sicheng, “It’s okay now! The ghost is gone! We’re safe!”
Su Tian supported herself on Zhou Ying’s arm. Her legs had just given out from fear, causing her to sit back down, and Jiang Chiyu groaned again, clutching his chest. Su Tian noticed something strange and looked down, suddenly realizing she was straddling one of Jiang Chiyu’s legs.
Su Tian suddenly became alert, quickly jumping off his leg, feeling like everything above her neck was burning hot.
“Little sister,” Jiang Chiyu sat on the ground with his legs spread, both hands supporting himself on the floor. His tone was casual yet husky, completely like a hooligan, “Next time lose a few pounds before sitting.”
Despite being at the bottom and suffering the worst collision, he could still joke, “Or maybe big brother should fatten up a bit.”
Zhou Ying turned away, excitedly covering her mouth with wide eyes in a silent scream. Su Tian stood frozen in place, turning into a bright red statue.
This really was…!
Enough!
Soon Wei Sicheng also stopped shouting and looked around in fear. Han Shuo came over and helped Jiang Chiyu up, “You okay, brother?”
Jiang Chiyu moved around a bit and didn’t feel anything unusual, “I’m fine.”
Wei Sicheng was still not composed, “It’s gone? Really gone?”
Han Shuo was also quite surprised and patted his shoulder, “Wouldn’t have guessed it, thought you were the brave tall one.”
Wei Sicheng didn’t feel embarrassed to admit it; he felt he had already lost face to the point of numbness today, “I’ve been most afraid of these things since I was little. I was really scared to death just now.”
“Then why did you agree to come to the haunted house?”
“Wasn’t I just accompanying you at the risk of my life?”
Zhou Ying pinched her philtrum, finally recovering from that wave of handsome attack, and went over to support the still rigid Su Tian, “Are you okay?”
Su Tian shook her head, still in a daze, “I’m fine.”
Zhou Ying said, “Wei Sicheng, your reaction just now was epic. When Su Tian went to tap you, you turned around and knocked her and Jiang Chiyu flying.”
“Huh?” Wei Sicheng truly didn’t know what he had done, and instinctively looked at Su Tian, “Are you okay?”
Su Tian shook her head repeatedly, “I’m fine, fine, not even a scratch.”
Wei Sicheng then looked at Jiang Chiyu.
“I’m okay,” Jiang Chiyu smiled at him, his tone quite gentle.
After confirming that Su Tian really wasn’t hurt at all, Zhou Ying went back to stand beside Han Shuo.
The counter area where they stayed resembled a hospital reception desk and seemed quite safe, so everyone squatted down again, catching their breath while discussing where to go next.
In their panic, they had gone up to the second floor of the haunted house, marked on the map as the “horror mode.”
Han Shuo thought, since they’d just arrived and had already reached the second floor, they might as well look around.
Zhou Ying was a bit scared, but she enviously looked at the still awkward Su Tian and the nonchalant Jiang Chiyu, feeling that her goal hadn’t been achieved yet. So she gritted her teeth and nodded along, “Let’s wander around the second floor for a while, we just got here.”
The light was dim, with only an old-style light bulb on the ceiling flickering weakly. Su Tian touched her face with the back of her hand, feeling that the heat hadn’t subsided yet. So she also reluctantly nodded along.
Jiang Chiyu tilted his head and glanced at her.
Wei Sicheng had originally had similar thoughts to Zhou Ying before coming, but after entering the haunted house, he had lost all such thoughts, focused only on being afraid.
However, surprisingly, he didn’t refuse either. He smoothed his chest, exhaled, “Then let’s stay a bit longer.”
Zhou Ying looked at him in surprise, “Didn’t expect you to be bad at it but still addicted?”
Wei Sicheng scratched his head, “Although it’s scary, it’s still quite thrilling.”
Everyone laughed.
Only Jiang Chiyu hadn’t expressed his opinion yet, so Han Shuo asked him, “Brother, do you want to continue playing for a while?”
Jiang Chiyu nodded casually, “I’m fine with whatever, if you want to play, let’s continue.”
Han Shuo quite admired him and sincerely praised, “Classmate, you really are too brave, your courage is too great. I haven’t seen you scream once. Not to mention the girls, both Wei Sicheng and I screamed like crazy.”
Zhou Ying continued Han Shuo’s words, “Yeah. But just now on the first floor, when that female ghost suddenly spoke, I saw that he was startled.”
Jiang Chiyu’s lips curved slightly, but he didn’t explain exactly who or what had startled him.
Su Tian glanced at Jiang Chiyu. At that time, she had been too busy screaming to notice Jiang Chiyu’s reaction.
Startled?
So this guy was afraid too.
Just, his courage was a bit bigger than theirs, that’s all.
After chatting for a while, they took out their phones to check the map, planning to walk around a bit and then leave.
Zhou Ying lowered her head when suddenly a strand of hair fell down, blocking her vision, so she reached up to tuck it behind her ear, not thinking much of it.
She realized something was wrong three seconds later when her phone screen reflected her face and a long strand of hair, one end tucked behind her ear, the other end… connected to the wall above her head.
“Clack.”
The phone in Zhou Ying’s hand fell straight down, and her entire body froze.
Seeing her dazed, Han Shuo picked up her phone for her, “What’s wrong?”
Su Tian and Jiang Chiyu sat opposite them. Because they were looking at the same phone, Su Tian had to lean closer to him, the two were sitting extremely close. Su Tian was feeling awkward when she heard the sound and raised her head slightly.
The hanging thing also slowly rotated 90 degrees, a face without features facing directly at her.
“Ah—”
The next second, Su Tian completely lost it, screaming sharply and suddenly hugging Jiang Chiyu’s arm.
“Run!” Jiang Chiyu had seen it too, pulling Su Tian up and running toward the corridor.
The rest of the group also reacted now, screams erupting one after another, echoing throughout the building.
The five people ran in chaos, quickly heading in different directions. Su Tian didn’t even need to look at the path, she just followed wherever Jiang Chiyu pulled her. At another turn, Su Tian gathered her courage to look back, only to find herself face to face with that long-haired faceless head hanging on the track.
“Ahhhhhh!”
Su Tian let out another scream.
Jiang Chiyu rushed forward a few more steps, then suddenly turned left, bringing Su Tian into a room, and quickly slammed the door shut.
With a “thud,” the prop must have hit the doorframe, then slowly went silent.
“Don’t open your eyes yet,” Jiang Chiyu said.
Su Tian nodded vigorously, covering her ears and closing her eyes, her entire body shrinking next to Jiang Chiyu, her chest heaving up and down.
Jiang Chiyu was still holding her forearm with one hand, not letting go. With his other hand, he turned on the flashlight on Su Tian’s phone and quickly scanned the room.
It looked like a hospital room, with no people, no surveillance cameras, and no particularly scary props. It should be a rare “safe zone.”
