Chapter 34: Suddenly Embracing “Her”

The door burst open with force, followed by a familiar sweet voice calling his name. Wei Sicheng could feel several beams of light falling on his face, and in that moment, he was almost moved to tears.

Suddenly filled with courage, he quickly opened his eyes and scanned what was before him. In that instant, Wei Sicheng’s breath stopped. With a “damn it,” he violently swatted away the hanging object blocking his view. His unobstructed vision then fell on the backlit figure standing not far ahead.

Perhaps because he was crouching, Su Tian’s figure appeared so tall, yet still slender.

Just once, just this once.

In this chaotic yet rare opportunity.

Wei Sicheng clenched his teeth and suddenly stood up, lunging toward the person at the door. Trembling all over, he embraced “her,” his eyes gradually reddening. He closed his eyes and said, “You came. You found me. I knew you would come.”

The person in his embrace struggled slightly. Wei Sicheng, caught up in the heat of the moment, vaguely felt something was wrong, but having just experienced intense panic and now immersed in the joy of this embrace, he couldn’t think clearly.

Silence. A strange, unsettling silence.

Then, right by his ear, a soft chuckle.

The tone was slightly lifted at the end, the voice clear and smooth like a gentle breeze after the rain, as melodious as a cello’s deep resonance. But there was something off about it—an unmistakable hint of amusement, even mockery.

It took Wei Sicheng a full three seconds to realize something was very, very wrong.

Why wasn’t the person in his arms as petite as he had imagined?

Why was the person’s voice right next to his ear?

Why did the person in his arms feel so hard and angular, completely different from the soft, tender feeling he had imagined!

The touching voice that had moved him earlier came from beside him instead of from within his arms, sounding somewhat distant. “Do male friendships develop this quickly?”

It was Su Tian’s voice.

It was Su Tian’s voice!!!

Then who was he hugging!?

Wei Sicheng opened his eyes and felt the person in his embrace, who was almost as tall as him, pushing against his shoulders to move him away. His gaze then fell on an exceptionally handsome face.

“…”

Jiang Chiyu’s expression hovered between a smirk and a grimace, his tone biting yet unreadable.

“Well… you’re certainly the first one…”

He didn’t finish the sentence, leaving everyone present confused by his words.

Jiang Chiyu took a deep breath, quickly suppressing all his emotions, and smiled very kindly at Wei Sicheng, “No need to thank me.”

He was responding to the emotional outpouring from earlier.

In an instant, Wei Sicheng’s face turned the color of pork liver.

After speaking, Jiang Chiyu lazily glanced at Su Tian, paused for a second, then casually looked elsewhere. Su Tian inexplicably felt cold and rubbed away her goosebumps, “Let’s get going.”

Twenty-five minutes later, they found Wei Sicheng’s lost phone through the security cameras in the haunted house manager’s office.

The phone had fallen out during his frantic escape. Fortunately, only the screen protector was cracked, with no other damage.

However, Wei Sicheng’s expression remained quite uncomfortable.

Probably because he was forced to watch again how he had rushed forward with tears in his eyes to embrace Jiang Chiyu.

Jiang Chiyu’s expression wasn’t much better either.

Probably because he hadn’t expected the first person to give him such a heartfelt embrace would be Wei Sicheng.

Zhou Ying and Han Shuo, both experienced in matters of the heart, had been holding back their laughter the entire way.

Only Su Tian remained cheerful, marveling at the peculiarity of male friendship while bouncing from one food stall to another. Her jumping figure appeared so silly in the eyes of the four others.

They later rode the roller coaster and Ferris wheel. Having spent too much time in the haunted house, it was getting dark, so they unanimously decided to go home after one last attraction.

The final attraction was the carousel.

It wasn’t particularly enjoyable.

Su Tian chose a white unicorn horse that was just the right size for her, and Zhou Ying also selected a pretty one nearby. The two were about to take some selfies together when Zhou Ying, after choosing a filter, turned around to see Su Tian staring heavily at something behind them, her gaze unfriendly.

“What’s wrong?” Zhou Ying also turned around.

All the adult-sized horses were occupied. The three guys were straddling different small horses, their superior height making it look like they were sitting on small stools, their long legs invariably bent with feet touching the ground.

Zhou Ying silently looked down at her and Su Tian’s feet, perfectly positioned on the protruding sides of their horses.

“Should we make them get off?” Su Tian tugged at Zhou Ying’s sleeve, pointing at the three guys behind them.

So the three were made to dismount.

Though unintentional, the two who felt somewhat insulted also rode for one round before getting off, utterly bored.

It wasn’t fun at all.

Su Tian thought she should find someone shorter than her to play with next time.

Zhou Ying thought she was lucky to have come with Su Tian.

The sky had darkened, with a deep blue canopy stretching overhead. For safety’s sake, Han Shuo went to escort Zhou Ying home. Jiang Chiyu and Su Tian lived in the same direction so they could walk together. Wei Sicheng was alone, having been dejected since leaving the haunted house.

Han Shuo remembered something and, holding back laughter, patted Wei Sicheng’s shoulder, “Brother, want me to walk you home?”

Su Tian looked at their builds and asked Han Shuo puzzledly, “Shouldn’t he be the one walking you home?”

Although Han Shuo was a year older, his physique looked a size smaller compared to Wei Sicheng, the sports specialist.

Zhou Ying also covered her mouth and laughed.

Wei Sicheng gave Su Tian a deep look, seemed about to say something, but swallowed it back, finally managing a smile, “You all head back then, be careful on your way. I need to go too.”

“Are you heading to Yutan City tonight? Or staying home for a night before going?” Su Tian hadn’t forgotten he had rushed over from Yutan City.

“Leaving tonight, catching a ride with my uncle.”

“Alright then, take care.”

They all said their goodbyes and headed in their respective directions.

Su Tian checked the time – it was just seven o’clock. She had promised her parents she’d be home by eight, so she still had an hour.

Taking the bus would take twenty minutes to get home.

Su Tian thought for a moment, and just then caught sight of a taxi in her peripheral vision, quickly hailing it.

Jiang Chiyu followed her in without asking questions.

Su Tian tapped something on her phone, then extended it between the seats, “Driver, to this location.”

The driver glanced at it, “Sure thing.”

Su Tian quickly pulled her phone back, keeping the screen facing herself.

Although Jiang Chiyu couldn’t see the address she had entered on her phone, he could see the navigation display in the car. After quietly observing for a while, he searched a few keywords on his phone, and seeing the results on the screen, chuckled softly, “Going somewhere so remote? What, planning to sell me?”

“…” Su Tian remained silent.

“Well, you could definitely get a good price for me.”

“…” Su Tian still didn’t speak.

When the expected out burst didn’t come, Jiang Chiyu lazily turned his head, only to see Su Tian expressionlessly staring at his hand… at the phone in his hand.
