Chapter 46: Borrow it with your mouth
Before sending it to Jiang Chiyu, she first logged in herself and changed the nickname to QAQ. She also changed the avatar to a pig head image.
Only then did she send the account name and password to him.
*sigh*
As the class representative for the Chinese language, she really put in so much effort.
Su Tian stared at the pig head avatar for a while, then suddenly burst out laughing and rolled around on the bed twice.
“Knock knock–” Two knocks sounded on her bedroom door, followed by Mr. Su’s voice from outside: “Tian Tian, not asleep yet? It’s late, if you don’t go to sleep you’ll be late again tomorrow.”
Dad must have seen that the light in her room was still on.
“I know, going to sleep right away!”
Su Tian had already added the side account as a friend on her main account, so she directly sent an invite to the class announcements group chat. Then she put down her phone and went to sleep with peace of mind.
The next day when she woke up, the first thing she did was open the QQ side account that now belonged to Jiang Chiyu. Sure enough, the avatar had changed to be the same as Jiang Chiyu’s WeChat profile picture. But to her surprise the nickname hadn’t been changed, still set as what she had put. This account had also been added to their class announcements group.
Thinking of the expression he might have had when changing the avatar, Su Tian laughed again.
…
Zhou Ying didn’t return to school until Friday afternoon.
Although she had successfully found a legitimate excuse to miss four days of class, she also had four days worth of assignments to make up.
During a noisy class break, Zhou Ying was furiously scribbling away with her head down. When Su Tian went to get water for herself, she passed by Zhou Ying’s desk and filled up a cup for her too.
The class monitor suddenly called out from the classroom door: “Su Tian, someone’s looking for you.”
Su Tian snapped out of it and looked out the window. The only familiar face was…An Ran.
Why was Senior An Ran looking for her?
Su Tian and her only knew each other’s names.
After filling the cups, she took them and went out. Looking around and confirming that An Ran must be the one looking for her, she walked over and tentatively called out, “Senior, you’re looking for me?”
An Ran had her hair in a high ponytail, her uniform ironed without a single wrinkle, fitting neatly on her body. She held a few thick notebooks in her arms. Her brows and eyes were cold, her aura strong.
She was the school’s famous ice beauty.
Her personality was as cold as her looks.
“Mm.” An Ran had been looking into their classroom through the window. Seeing Su Tian come over, she responded in a low voice and indifferently shifted her gaze. “Song Yingjing had something to do and didn’t have time to bring you his notes, so I’m dropping them off since I was passing by.”
After saying that, she held out the stack of notebooks in her arms.
“Oh okay.”
Su Tian hurriedly took them. She was still holding two cups of water in her hands and couldn’t get a good grip. Her movements became a bit uncoordinated as she tried to balance everything. The top few notebooks seemed like they were about to slide off.
Just as she was making an amusing effort to maintain balance, a hand suddenly took the notebooks she was holding. Su Tian looked up and saw Jiang Chiyu, holding a bottle of ice cold lychee soda in one hand and the notebooks he had taken from her in the other.
He lowered his eyes and directly went into the classroom after taking them.
Su Tian let out a sigh of relief, her tone cheerful, “Thanks deskmate!”
After another week of getting along, they could very naturally call each other “deskmate” now.
Su Tian turned around and saw An Ran’s gaze following Jiang Chiyu’s back. She paused for a moment before saying, “Thank you Senior, I’ll head to class then.”
An Ran came back to her senses and lowered her gaze, as if casually mentioning. “This is your new deskmate? I remember it used to be a girl.”
Su Tian nodded. “Yes, we changed seats after the monthly exam.”
An Ran didn’t say anything else and turned to leave.
Su Tian also skipped back to the classroom.
Returning to her seat, she happily moved the notebooks from Jiang Chiyu’s desk to her own, looking like she had found treasure.
Jiang Chiyu swallowed a mouthful of soda, feeling the lychee flavor explode in his mouth, sweet yet refreshing. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he put down the bottle and looked at Su Tian, his gaze falling on the notebooks she treasured. “Won the lottery?”
Su Tian had just flipped open the cover, revealing the words on the title page – “High School Year 1, Class 6, Song Yingjing.”
Jiang Chiyu had barely finished speaking when he paused.
“These are Song Yingjing’s humanities notes from his first year of high school.” Su Tian’s index finger gently rubbed over those three characters, her eyes curved in a smile. “You still remember Song Yingjing right? The senior who played piano last time. He also studies really well, ranked first in the grade.”
Jiang Chiyu indifferently shifted his gaze away without replying.
After Su Tian flipped through two or three pages, he suddenly asked, “How did he let you borrow his notes?”
“Why? You want to borrow them too?” Su Tian became alert, hugging the stack of notebooks with both hands. “You can borrow them, but I have to look at them first.”
“…” Jiang Chiyu stared at her, his eyes dark like a pool of ink.
After a while, he suddenly laughed and nodded. “Yes, how did you borrow them?”
Su Tian always felt his words sounded a bit like he was gritting his teeth.
What was he gritting his teeth about, annoyed that she borrowed the notes of the top student first?
She was baffled. “Borrow it with my mouth of course.”
Jiang Chiyu’s eyes flickered as his gaze lowered, fixing on her small mouth.
Su Tian felt an inexplicable chill from his stare and couldn’t help licking her lower lip.
Jiang Chiyu’s gaze seemed to follow the movement. “Okay.”
Then he looked into her eyes again, repeating ominously, “Okay. Remember that.”
Su Tian: “…” What a nutcase.
Jiang Chiyu turned his face away.
It was soon Sunday again. Near the end of the school day, Zhou Ying had finished all her overdue assignments. Taking advantage that no one was managing the class during the last period, she ran bent over from the back row to the third row and poked Su Tian’s shoulder. “Tian, wanna go to the bathroom?”
Su Tian was startled. She turned around bent over and mouthed to her. “Are you crazy?”
Zhou Ying was indeed going crazy. “Tian, I just heard that our school is suddenly joining the Eight Cities Joint Exam at the end of this month. There will even be a parent-teacher meeting after the exam.”
Although she lowered her voice, the people around still heard. Wang Suhan and Yu He both looked up, and Hu Cong also glanced over.
Zhou Ying: “Don’t look at me like that! I heard it through the grapevine too, but it’s 99% accurate.” She deflated, looking quite distressed. “Because I overheard teachers talking about it in the stall next to me when I went to the office building bathroom.”
Then it was probably true.
What a unique source for this little rumor. The teachers probably didn’t expect the news of the joint exam to accidentally leak like this.
“End of this month? That’s only two weeks away.” Hu Cong pushed up his thick glasses.
Wang Suhan’s face had already turned bitter. “No way, we just finished the monthly exam.”
“The key is there’s a parent meeting after the exam. I’m done for, I just got over the trauma from last time’s parent meeting.” Yu He said.
Su Tian was also dumbfounded. She thought the next exam would be in at least a month, not expecting it to come so soon, and it was the Eight Cities Joint Exam no less.
She recalled her promise to Mom to make it back into the top 100 in the grade on the next exam, or else she’d have to get a tutor.
She was doomed.
Su Tian only had those two words in her mind.
Although Jiang Chiyu didn’t say anything, he also put down his pen and listened on the side.
One person whispering softly was fine, but when a group started discussing, the voices inevitably grew louder.
The class monitor was still there. He glanced over at their little group and lightly coughed.
“Zhou Ying, go back to your seat.”
