The woman smiled and continued, “Cousin, this pregnancy hasn’t been easy for you. If you’re not careful and take good care of yourself, it might be hard to conceive again in the future. So this time, we really can’t afford any mistakes. Don’t worry, I will be very careful in looking after your meals until this child is safely born. If it’s a boy, he will be the only legitimate grandson of the Chen family, a position of great importance.”
The pregnant woman beamed with happiness, gently stroking her belly with a loving expression. “Whether it’s a boy or a girl, my husband doesn’t mind. He really adores our Rou’er and often takes her with him to teach her, praising her every day.”
As she spoke of her husband, the smile on the woman’s face radiated joy.
That happy smile, however, stung another woman’s eyes.
Mengmeng directed her gaze at the jealous woman and said, “Auntie, your eyes are so ugly! Are you plotting to harm someone? Why do you have such a heavy aura of malice? This isn’t good for you; it will attract evil spirits that thrive on such negativity. They will consume your malice and grow stronger, while you will grow weaker until all your yang energy is drained away, leading to your slow demise.”
Mengmeng’s words attracted the attention of everyone in the shop.
The woman immediately grew angry and shouted at Mengmeng, “Where did this little brat come from, speaking so rudely?”
The pregnant woman also added, “Little girl, you shouldn’t speak like that.”
Mengmeng turned to the pregnant woman and said, “Auntie, I’m not talking nonsense. She’s a bad person. Just now, the silver needle she used to test your food was covered in dark energy. That dark energy has now contaminated your tea and snacks. If you eat them, that dark energy will enter your belly and harm your baby. The more dark energy that enters, the more danger your baby will be in. Auntie, don’t let this person deceive you.”
“Auntie, I only need ten taels of silver, and I can help eliminate the dark energy from you, ensuring you and your baby are safe.”
The pregnant woman frowned, while the other woman’s face was filled with disbelief. “So you’re just a little scammer! No wonder you speak so rudely; it’s all to swindle money! Open your eyes and see who you’re trying to deceive.”
The angry woman stood up, ready to grab Mengmeng, determined not to let this little scammer ruin her years of planning.
Seeing someone about to harm his sister, Yangyang immediately threw out a binding talisman, freezing the woman in place, rendering her unable to move.
The woman was instantly terrified! Her eyes widened in panic. “What! What’s happening to me? What have you done? Why can’t I move?”
She was in a state of desperation.
The pregnant woman was equally shocked. “What’s going on? You two little kids, who exactly are you?”
The pregnant woman was somewhat afraid, having never seen such a magical scene before. A small piece of paper could actually immobilize a person.
Mengmeng turned to the pregnant woman and said, “Auntie, you don’t need to worry. We’re not bad people; we’re from the Seven Mystic Sect. I can read fortunes and exorcise ghosts. Although I’m not as skilled as my mother or my master, I’m still capable. You can trust me; I just want to help you, not harm you. She is the one who truly wants to harm you.”
Mengmeng pointed at the immobilized woman, her little face filled with disdain.
But as just a child, who would believe her?
The pregnant woman, of course, didn’t believe her either and remained on guard.
Noticing the woman’s continued suspicion, Mengmeng felt somewhat helpless. After thinking for a moment, she spoke up, “Auntie, haven’t you lost a baby every time you’ve been pregnant these past few years? They’ve all died halfway?”
The pregnant woman was taken aback! “How did you know?”
Mengmeng confidently replied, “I observed your Child Palace. You currently have only one daughter, right? After your daughter, you’ve had two other children, but none of them survived. Your Child Palace has two broken lines. The first line is intact, but the two in the middle are broken. The last line represents the baby you’re carrying now, and it shows signs of breaking soon. If you don’t believe me and don’t let me help, this last line will end up breaking just like the two before it. Auntie, do you understand what I mean?”
Looking at Mengmeng’s beautiful and innocent face, it was hard to believe she was a scammer. But the things she said were simply too incredible to be true.
However, after what she had just revealed, the pregnant woman couldn’t help but believe her a little.
A child who didn’t know her, how could she possibly know these things unless she had special abilities?
Seeing the shift in the woman’s expression, Mengmeng continued, “Auntie, the reason your babies haven’t survived is because dark energy has entered your body. Dark energy is the aura of the dead. When it enters your body, it harms the baby. The more dark energy there is, the more dangerous it becomes for the child. The baby will be consumed by the dark energy and eventually die. Your previous two babies probably died the same way.”
The pregnant woman staggered back, and her maid quickly rushed to help her. “Madam, be careful.”
“How could dark energy enter my body? I’ve been very careful and haven’t been to any unclean places. I mostly stay at home. How could such a thing enter my body?”
The immobilized woman immediately spoke up. “Cousin, I told you, those two are just scammers, trying to cheat people. Don’t believe their lies. This pregnancy hasn’t been easy for you; you must take good care of yourself. Don’t listen to them; if something happens to the baby, can those two little ghosts be held responsible?”
The pregnant woman hesitated. Yes, her body was weak. She had been married for ten years and hadn’t given her husband a son, making her feel guilty towards him and the Chen family. This pregnancy was crucial; she couldn’t afford another miscarriage.
Mengmeng felt helpless seeing how easily her aunt was being deceived.
“Auntie, I just said that the silver needle was covered in thick dark energy. Don’t you know who’s been harming you? Auntie, if you’re this foolish, your baby will be angry. He will wonder why you didn’t protect him.”
Upon hearing Mengmeng’s words, the pregnant woman’s eyes immediately turned red. During the time she lost her two children, she often dreamt of them. They were always crying and wouldn’t speak to her. Perhaps, they were truly blaming her.
Her voice suddenly became firm. “Little girl, I believe you. Please help me. I’ll pay you right now.”
With that, the pregnant woman instructed her maid to take out a banknote.
“Here’s a banknote for one hundred taels. It’s all yours. I just beg you to save my baby.”
Mengmeng’s eyes lit up at the sight of so much money. She and her little brother didn’t have much when they left the mountain, and they had almost used up the money they had taken to rent the carriage. This money came at the perfect time.
She didn’t hesitate to smile and say to the pregnant woman, “Auntie, I’ll accept the payment after I’ve gotten rid of the dark energy.”
The pregnant woman nodded, her heart filled with anxiety.
The immobilized woman panicked!
She frantically shouted, “Cousin, don’t be rash! Why would you believe a stranger over me? How many years have I been by your side? How have I treated you? Don’t you know?”
As Yueya took out her tools to prepare for drawing a talisman, she said to the woman, “It’s because you’ve stayed by this Auntie’s side that she’s in danger! Don’t rush to speak; you’re next. Those who do evil deeds will be punished.”
The woman was apprehensive but still tried desperately to speak, preventing the pregnant woman from believing Mengmeng.
Although Mengmeng was young, her abilities were not weak. The way she drew the talisman attracted everyone’s attention, and when they saw her fingertips conjure a bright flame that enveloped the talisman before disappearing, everyone’s eyes widened in surprise.
This child was truly a master!
