The pregnant woman was even more excited. This little girl was really a master?
After the excitement, the pregnant woman’s face was filled with joy. This was great; her child would surely be born safely.
Since her previous two pregnancies had ended strangely, she had been considering using some special methods and had heard of the renowned Jiuli Temple Master.
She had come out this time specifically to find the legendary Jiuli Temple Master, hoping to ensure the safety of her current pregnancy. However, she hadn’t expected to encounter a master halfway through her journey.
Mengmeng walked over to the pregnant woman, placing the talisman on her belly. She then began to chant softly. As the power of the talisman entered the woman’s body, the dark energy within her instantly scattered in fear.
The pregnant woman turned pale and instinctively placed her hands on her belly, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
Mengmeng’s soft voice reassured her, “Auntie, you don’t need to worry. You might feel a little discomfort because the dark energy is reacting to my talisman and is trying to escape, but it will be over soon. Your baby will be fine; just relax.”
Upon hearing this, the pregnant woman suppressed her worries and steadied her mind.
Sure enough, after a little while, the discomfort faded away.
The pregnant woman felt relieved and gradually even sensed a lightness in her body, as if the heaviness that had been weighing her down was gone.
Mengmeng watched as the dark energy around the pregnant woman was absorbed completely before she smiled.
She removed the talisman, which had changed from yellow to gray, and in the next moment, it turned to ash and vanished.
The pregnant woman looked at the talisman and couldn’t help but pat her chest. Those things looked too frightening.
“Auntie, it’s all done! The dark energy has been cleared from you. Your baby needs good nutrition, so make sure to take care of yourself after you go home. Don’t let anyone else touch your food from now on.”
The pregnant woman nodded excitedly. “Little girl, thank you! I was so distrustful of you before, but you still helped me without holding a grudge. You’re such a kind child; thank you!”
Mengmeng felt very happy as she had helped someone and earned some money. “You’re welcome, Auntie! You paid me, so I’ll also need to find my mother. This money is enough for my travel expenses. Since you’ve given me so much, I’ll draw you a few more talismans. I can create safety and luck talismans. How many safety talismans do you need?”
The pregnant woman was instantly thrilled!
These talismans sounded great and were surely better than those she could get from a temple.
She quickly replied, “Could you give me three safety talismans? I want one each for my husband, daughter, and myself.”
Mengmeng nodded. “Sure, no problem!”
She took out her brush and talisman paper and began to draw the talismans.
These were the simplest talismans, so they weren’t too labor-intensive. After finishing three talismans, she activated each one, making them effective.
Finally, she folded the talismans into small triangles and handed them to the pregnant woman.
“Auntie, take these. Just carry them with you.”
The pregnant woman carefully took them, treating them like treasures, and placed them in her bosom. “Thank you, little girl.”
The maid handed Mengmeng the one hundred taels in banknotes, and Mengmeng happily accepted them. This was the first time she had earned money, and it was such a substantial amount that she couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.
“Little Brother, you take care of it,” she said proudly as she handed the money to Yangyang.
Yangyang took the banknote and tucked it into his clothes.
The pregnant woman looked at her cousin and asked Mengmeng, “Little girl, was it really her who harmed me?”
The pregnant woman still found it hard to believe. She had treated her cousin well, especially after her cousin lost her husband and had a hard time. Since her family didn’t support her, she had taken them in, promising to help them buy a house. But they had declined, saying they preferred to stay together, helping each other and keeping her company while raising her children.
The pregnant woman couldn’t comprehend how her cousin, who had moved in to help her, could secretly harm her and her child.
Indeed, ever since her cousin had moved in, she had helped her greatly, never causing trouble and always being careful, treating her with great deference. Seeing her cousin act so submissively made the pregnant woman feel compassion, and she had ultimately decided not to bring up the idea of sending her away. They had been living together in harmony.
Yet, she never expected that her cousin would harbor such malicious intentions.
Mengmeng nodded seriously. “Yes, it was her. The tea and snacks in front of you are now infused with dark energy, and the silver needle she carries is even more saturated with it. She must have soaked that needle with the bones of a long-dead corpse for a long time, ensuring that it is saturated with enough dark energy every day.”
A chill ran through the pregnant woman as she imagined the scene, causing her to shudder involuntarily.
Where had her cousin learned such a wicked method? No wonder her first two children had died without a trace. They had seemed fine in the early stages, but whenever they reached five or six months and became more formed, they would inevitably die in the womb. Her body had suffered greatly as a result, and it had taken many years for her to recover even a little.
The pregnant woman didn’t shout or make a scene to confront her cousin. Instead, she calmly told her maid, “Tie her up. We’ll deal with her when we get back home.”
This wasn’t the right place for confrontation, and there were many inconveniences. Although the pregnant woman was furious, she remained rational.
Yangyang released the immobilized woman from the binding spell. A few of the maidservants then brought ropes to tie her up.
Mengmeng instructed them to find the silver needle and destroy it on the spot to prevent further harm.
The woman cursed and shouted many unpleasant things, and the pregnant woman ordered someone to gag her. Finally, they dragged her onto the carriage.
After the carriage disappeared, everyone in the shop turned to the two little ones.
Mengmeng asked, “Little Brother, have you finished eating? Let’s get moving!”
The siblings then set off.
Once they left, the others in the shop also departed, following the brother and sister’s carriage at a distance.
After traveling for a while, the driver turned to the siblings and said, “Mengmeng, Yangyang, those people have been following us for quite some time. They’re probably eyeing the one hundred taels you have.”
Mengmeng puffed out her cheeks in dissatisfaction and huffed, “If they have the ability, they can try to rob us! We’re not afraid. Uncle, just drive your carriage; don’t mind them.”
The driver was quite curious about the two children and couldn’t help but ask, “Can you really read fortunes?”
Mengmeng nodded. “Of course it’s true! Do you think we’re scamming you?”
The driver immediately shook his head. He was just very curious and asked if she could read his fortune.
Mengmeng explained, “Reading fortunes isn’t something that can just be done casually. A person with good fortune doesn’t need to know; seeking a reading might actually affect their fate.”
Upon hearing this, the driver understood and felt pleased, so he didn’t press further.
As the carriage entered another forest, the following group finally made their move.
There were three waves of people, and it seemed they had all planned together to rob them.
All of them rode horses and surrounded the carriage, shouting at the brother and sister inside, “Kids, hand over the silver notes quickly, and I’ll spare your lives!”
The coarse and arrogant voice commanded, followed by a wave of laughter from the followers. The driver was somewhat intimidated by their display and couldn’t help but tremble.
