In early September, the school season began.
As the university started, Zhou Yao took a day off to accompany Wen Yue to school. She was majoring in foreign languages, while Li Nianqiu was in the finance department. Perhaps because they were close to the female lead, they were assigned to the same dormitory.
Wen Yue and Li Nianqiu had just begun living in the school dorms and met quite a few nice classmates. After some interactions, they were silently selecting candidates.
That’s right, they were choosing employees for their education company.
It wouldn’t do to have just the two of them as teachers. They needed to select more people, preferably those with good grades and pleasant personalities.
After careful selection, they had their eyes on about ten candidates, but in the end, only ten were willing to come on board (I guess this is a mistake from the author.). However, that was enough for the initial phase.
Wen Yue and Li Nianqiu’s “education institution” had already gained some recognition in the circle of wealthy wives. Parents always prioritized their children’s academic performance, and those with a bit of money were definitely willing to hire tutors for their kids.
With the staff in place, Wen Yue and Li Nianqiu’s Nian Yue Education Institution was officially launched.
Wen Yue wasn’t good at management, so she handed those responsibilities over to Li Nianqiu.
After all, being a strong female lead comes with talent. Not only does Li Nianqiu manage things efficiently, but she also ensures the company’s prospects are well arranged. They advertised on television, published announcements in newspapers, and invited Hong Kong celebrities for promotion.
Under such intense publicity, Nian Yue Education Institution quickly became a sensation in Shencheng, with long lines of parents eager to enroll their children.
Zhou Yao’s real estate properties were perfect for setting up a storefront, and he generously allocated three floors for their company, saying it was part of his investment. All the shares were under Wen Yue’s name, making her the institution’s main owner. Now that the institution was on the right track, even if she stayed home doing nothing, she would still receive a substantial monthly income.
As the institution thrived, more teachers came to apply, which naturally increased the number of students.
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, two years had passed.
Zhou Yao’s Yao Yue Real Estate had made a name for itself in Shencheng, and Wen Yue and Li Nianqiu’s Nian Yue Education Institution was also flourishing.
During these two years, Li Nianqiu underwent significant changes; she cut her long hair and often wore smart women’s suits to various events and interviews. She looked calm, composed, and exuded a strong presence.
In contrast, Wen Yue remained relatively unchanged.
As more teachers joined the institution, Wen Yue no longer needed to work part-time as a teacher. Being a homebody by nature, she picked up her paintbrush again and started painting. With Zhou Yao and Li Nianqiu’s encouragement, she held several private exhibitions.
Her artwork sold for considerable sums, and she accumulated a decent reputation in the art world.
Wen Yue’s birthday was in March.
The weather in Shencheng during spring was mild, and on her birthday, it was a particularly sunny day, warm sunlight enveloping her. On this fine day, Zhou Yao took her to register their marriage.
Wen Yue wore a light-colored long dress, her large wavy hair cascading down, and with a touch of light makeup, she smiled brightly at the camera. Zhou Yao, in a black suit, had matured significantly, and his handsome face lit up with a radiant smile.
It was a truly bright smile, showcasing his large white teeth, giving him an unpretentious look.
The photos of the handsome man and beautiful woman turned out to be quite pleasing to the eye.
Zhou Yao had been excited all day, finally waiting for his little wife to reach the legal age for marriage! God knew how he had endured the past two years, fearing that one day his little wife might change her mind and run off with another man.
“How about having the wedding in May?” Zhou Yao said, clutching the freshly minted marriage certificate, eager to show it off to everyone.
Although they had held a small banquet back in their hometown, it was too simple for Zhou Yao’s taste; he didn’t want to shortchange Wen Yue and was preparing for a proper wedding! Their household registration had already been transferred to Shencheng, and they had made quite a few friends here. They mostly only returned to their hometown to pay respects to their parents and ancestors, as there wasn’t much keeping them there.
Wen Yue brushed her hair back and smiled, “Sounds good.”
Zhou Yao began to envision the wedding day, “I’ll buy you the most beautiful wedding dress and the biggest diamond ring…”
He had already booked the best five-star hotel in Shencheng, and aside from Li Nianqiu and her sisters, Grandma Fang, Lulu, and a few others like Ren Yeliang and Fang Shitao were also on the guest list. He even invited several close friends to attend the birthday banquet.
The birthday party wasn’t large, but it included only the most familiar and closest people.
Zhou Yao finally had something to show off. From the start of the birthday party, he paraded around, silently flaunting the marriage certificate in front of everyone.
They couldn’t take it anymore and started to take turns pouring him drinks, while Wen Yue stood by, smiling.
“Seeing you two so happy makes me want to fall in love,” Li Nianqiu said, a faint smile on her face. Ever since her career took off, her smiles had become less frequent, and she usually maintained a serious demeanor.
Only in front of Wen Yue and Li Xiangdong did she occasionally show a smile.
Wen Yue felt a sudden pang of guilt at Li Nianqiu’s words.
Nianqiu’s official partner… should be at Capital University right now…
If she wasn’t with her partner, would Nianqiu remain single forever? If that was her choice, it would be fine; but if she didn’t want to be single, Wen Yue felt she should take some responsibility.
Maybe she should have Zhou Yao keep an eye out for any quality men?
Wen Yue shook off her thoughts and smiled, “How about it? Do you have someone in mind?”
She expected Li Nianqiu to say no, but to her surprise, she saw her think for a moment before saying, “Still observing.”
Wen Yue’s curiosity was piqued. “Who is it? Do I know them?”
“You don’t know them, but if there’s a chance, I’ll introduce you,” Li Nianqiu said, changing the subject, clearly reluctant to discuss further.
Wen Yue had to set aside her curiosity for the time being.
After the birthday party ended, Zhou Yao had drunk quite a bit and was helped back to his room by Ren Yeliang and Fang Shitao.
“Drinking so much,” Wen Yue murmured as she poured water, preparing to wipe Zhou Yao’s face.
Just as she finished and was about to put the towel away, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her down onto him. Despite being busy, Zhou Yao took good care of his physique, maintaining well-defined chest and abdominal muscles.
He seemed to know that Wen Yue liked this and guided her hand under his shirt, resting it on his abs, grinning as he asked, “Looks like you really enjoy touching this. Feels good, doesn’t it?”
Though they hadn’t taken the final step in their relationship, they had done everything else. Any embarrassment only lingered for a few seconds before vanishing.
Wen Yue’s cheeks flushed slightly. “… It’s okay.”
“Just okay?” Zhou Yao clearly wasn’t satisfied with that response, his brows furrowing slightly.
He released Wen Yue’s hand, gently lifting her, and captured her in a passionate kiss, filled with heat and longing. The longer they kissed, the tighter he held her, as if trying to meld her into himself.
Wen Yue felt a bit lightheaded, struggling to breathe, her limbs turning weak.
After a while, she sensed Zhou Yao pulling away. The room was plunged into darkness, illuminated only by the faint moonlight spilling through the window onto the spacious double bed.
Zhou Yao pulled Wen Yue’s hand in front of him, his voice low and husky, “Button, unbutton it.”
In the darkness, his gaze became even more profound and alluring.
Wen Yue gently bit her lower lip, her slender fingers tentatively reaching upward.
…
…
The night was still long.
