It felt just like waking from a dream.
“No way.” Yu Yu shook her head.
“I will always be with Father.”
“That’s what you said, so remember it well.” Feng Xiaohan’s eyes sparkled with joy, and he felt very pleased.
“Father, what does ‘Wang’ mean?” Father’s surname isn’t Wang, right? Isn’t his name Feng Xiaohan? There’s no ‘Wang’ in it.
Yu Yu looked puzzled, her chubby little hand scratching her head.
“Um… this… is a kind of self-reference.” Feng Xiaohan wasn’t quite sure how to explain it.
Yu Yu suddenly understood.
“Then can Yu Yu also call herself ‘Wang’?”
“No, you can’t.”
Oh…
After finishing her meal, Yu Yu felt a bit sleepy. She put down her little bag, took off her shoes, and climbed onto the bed to sleep.
“Father, good afternoon.” Yu Yu waved at her father while covering herself with the blanket.
Then she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Feng Xiaohan thought: Eating and then sleeping, just like a little piglet.
He pushed his wheelchair to the side of the bed, took off his outer coat, and prepared for a nap.
Outside the Prince’s Mansion, a luxurious carriage came to a stop.
Qing’an went to greet it.
“Miss.”
A slender hand adorned with several gold bracelets extended from the carriage.
A maid helped Gu Zhu down from the carriage.
She wore a long, waist-length gown made of light satin, with a deep blue belt embellished with blue gemstones, and a pearl necklace adorning her long neck.
The tassels on her hairpin swayed gently.
“Where is Father?” Gu Zhu asked.
“The Prince has already gone to sleep.” Qing’an looked at the long convoy behind the carriage. The eldest lady had brought so many things with her.
“Oh.”
“Qing’an, these are all gifts I brought for Father. Thank you for your trouble.” Gu Zhu glanced back at the long line of carriages behind her.
“Understood.”
Gu Zhu entered the Prince’s Mansion and went to her courtyard, Yuzhu Courtyard.
Servants brought water in for Gu Zhu to wash up.
The maid, Hiyu, helped her take off her jewelry and clothes.
Gu Zhu soaked in the warm water, easing the fatigue of the past few days.
“Which outfit would you like to wear, Miss?” Hiyu asked.
“The one with the plain brocade and the cranes.” Gu Zhu replied lazily.
“Understood.”
After Gu Zhu washed up and changed her clothes, Hiyu styled her hair into a simple bun, securing it with two jade hairpins.
No rouge, no eyebrow makeup.
Gu Zhu looked at her beautiful reflection in the mirror.
Pure and unblemished, she was a dazzling presence without the need for adornment.
“Done, Miss.”
Gu Zhu stood up and took the maid to wait in front of Wangchuan Courtyard.
Qing’an and Wenshu approached.
“Miss.”
Gu Zhu glanced at them.
“Um… about your Father.”
“What happened to Father?” Hearing it was about Feng Xiaohan, Gu Zhu’s expression turned worried.
Is Father unwell again?
Or have they plotted against him again?
“Recently, the Prince has been a bit off, especially sleepy, and often appears distracted.”
“Sometimes he even talks to himself.”
“Our subordinates suspect that the Prince may have been cursed.” Qing’an revealed their suspicions.
“Has a physician been called?” Gu Zhu asked with a furrowed brow.
“Yes, but the physician hasn’t found any issues.”
“Oh, I see.” Gu Zhu nodded.
“Have those four come over?”
“The Eldest Prince visited once.”
Inside Wangchuan Courtyard, Yu Yu patted her little face, trying to wake herself up.
So sleepy.
“Father… help Yu Yu get her shoes.”
Feng Xiaohan, half-closing his eyes, handed the shoes to his daughter, then pulled the blanket around himself and curled up to continue sleeping.
Yu Yu put on her shoes, said goodbye to Father, and left for the small town.
In the afternoon, she would help Grandpa Cai plant vegetables and deliver books for Brother Mai.
After Feng Xiaohan woke up, Qing’an brought in water for him to wash up.
“The eldest lady is waiting for you outside.”
“Alright.” Feng Xiaohan nodded.
After getting dressed, Qing’an pushed Feng Xiaohan out to meet Gu Zhu.
“Father.” Gu Zhu bowed respectfully.
“Rise.”
“How is Father’s health lately?” Gu Zhu poured tea for Feng Xiaohan.
“I’m fine.” Feng Xiaohan took a sip of tea.
“How are you?”
It’s not easy for a woman to travel and trade.
“I’m doing well. I’ve finalized the deal with them.” Gu Zhu smiled. Now she was a renowned businesswoman, earning thousands every day, quite impressive.
“That’s good.”
“Right, did you bring back any fabrics?” Feng Xiaohan pondered, stroking his jade ring.
“Colors that are a bit brighter.”
“Yes, there’s azure blue, crimson purple, vermilion red, bright yellow…” Gu Zhu was a little puzzled. Father usually doesn’t prefer bright colors.
He prefers dark blue, indigo purple, and black.
“Are there any light yellow, green, etc., colors that little girls like?” That little girl likes bright colors.
“Little girl? Father, what’s this…” Gu Zhu looked at Feng Xiaohan hesitantly.
Has Father picked up another child?
“For a little girl who’s about two years old. No need for much, just some scraps to make her a little bag.” Feng Xiaohan pretended he was just asking casually.
“If there isn’t any, forget it.”
“Naturally, there is.” Gu Zhu saw through her father’s stubbornness.
“Mingzhu, tell someone to make it.”
“Alright, find a good embroiderer and just have them embroider some simple patterns on it.” There’s no need for it to be too elaborate.
“Alright.” Mingzhu looked at the proud Father and shook her head helplessly.
She remembered the past, the hardships they endured. Father would scold them for being skinny while giving them all the food.
He would stubbornly insist he wasn’t hungry.
“Father, have you picked up another little sister?” Gu Zhu asked.
“It’s not that I picked her up, she’s the one who’s stuck to me.” He wouldn’t take the initiative to pick up little girls.
“Oh? Has Father checked her background?” Gu Zhu was a bit worried, afraid it was a deliberate arrangement.
“Don’t worry about her background. I’ll let you meet her when the time is right.” Feng Xiaohan knew his adopted daughter was worried about him.
“Alright.” Gu Zhu didn’t ask any further.
Father has been through countless battles, seen countless schemes and tricks, he wouldn’t be easily fooled.
In the small town, Yu Yu finished her practice and came to the Medical Immortal’s place.
“Medical Immortal Brother, do you have any medicine that makes wounds heal quickly?” Yu Yu asked, looking up.
“Yes, I’ll get you some.” The Medical Immortal took out a bottle of ointment for Yu Yu.
“Here you go.”
“Thank you, Medical Immortal Brother.” Yu Yu took out an orange from her bag and gave it to the Medical Immortal Brother.
“Thank you.” The Medical Immortal accepted the orange and thanked her softly.
Yu Yu took the peach she wanted and the medicine to Jiang Gu’s room.
Jiang Gu wasn’t there.
Heeheehee, she deliberately came when Brother wasn’t here. Yu Yu put down the peach and the medicine, then took out an apple from Father’s place and put it on the table.
“Brother should be able to see it here.” Yu Yu muttered to herself, touching her chubby chin.
Afraid Brother wouldn’t see it, Yu Yu took a red cloth from her bag and covered the things she had brought.
Now Brother will definitely be able to see them.
After delivering the things, Yu Yu happily went to the restaurant for dinner and then returned to her small bamboo hut to rest.
Feng Xiaohan lay in bed, calling for his daughter.
[Call unsuccessful, call target is asleep.] The system voice informed.
Feng Xiaohan: Alright.
Late at night, Jiang Gu returned to his room, exhausted, ready to sleep.
The candle was lit, the dim light illuminating the room. Jiang Gu wanted to get a glass of water, but he saw a red cloth on the table. There seemed to be something under the cloth.
At night, a red cloth, it looked a bit eerie.
Jiang Gu drew his sword and lifted the red cloth.
Huh? A peach? An apple and a bottle?
Jiang Gu put away his sword and looked inside.
There was also a small note, Yu Yu?
The little child from last night seemed to be named Feng Wuyu, did she send this?
Jiang Gu looked at the fresh peach, sniffed it, there was no poison. Then he picked up the small porcelain bottle and looked at the note stuck on it.
Skin Healing Powder?
For external wounds, helps wound healing.
Jiang Gu frowned, then picked up the apple and looked at it.
Um… it’s just a normal apple.
After thinking for a while, Jiang Gu put the medicine into the box and locked it, placing the peach upright.
As for the apple, he’d have it for dinner.
