Chapter 15.2
Jiang Yu’s heart raced, feeling tight and heavy in her chest. She could firmly tell herself that she only saw him as a roommate, which made her uneasy in response to his affection. She didn’t know if she could reciprocate those feelings.
This thought filled her with resistance, and she gently pushed against his arm. “Be careful, you might press on the baby.”
But at that moment, he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, his beautiful eyes slightly glazed over. In a muffled voice, he said, “It’s fine. I won’t press on her.”
With a handsome man to kiss, Jiang Yu didn’t feel at all at a loss. She decided to relax and enjoy the moment, the quiet night and the gentle breeze outside blending with the warmth inside, creating a cozy, tender atmosphere.
However, being pregnant, Jiang Yu quickly became tired from the physical exertion. After a short cough, she withdrew from their intimate moment.
Jiang Zhe also sat up, his eyes reflecting complex emotions, though he seemed much more content.
In the days that followed, their interactions returned to normal. Jiang Yu focused on her pregnancy while Jiang Zhe managed everything around the house.
One day, Jiang Yu saw a video about blooming peach blossoms on the mountain and felt a surge of excitement. That night, she persuaded Jiang Zhe, “I haven’t been out for a while. How about we go see the peach blossoms tomorrow?”
She showed him the video and asked, “Aren’t they beautiful?”
Although Jiang Zhe wasn’t particularly interested in flowers, he was willing to accompany her since she liked it.
“Sure,” he agreed.
Jiang Yu’s excitement was palpable. “Then let’s go tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
Jiang Yu didn’t engage him further, murmuring to herself, “I’ll go to bed early tonight. We should leave early tomorrow since it takes over an hour to drive there.”
Jiang Zhe was fine with whatever. He didn’t have a strong interest in flowers but enjoyed experiencing beautiful things with her.
“It’s okay if we leave a bit later.”
“Morning blossoms are prettier. I’ll wake up early and sleep in the car,” Jiang Yu said with sparkling eyes, which was endearing. Jiang Zhe was initially concerned she might be uncomfortable in the car, but her enthusiasm won him over.
He didn’t fully understand the difference between morning and midday blossoms, but he was willing to follow her lead.
Although she intended to go to bed early, Jiang Yu stayed up late reading a novel, only realizing it was almost 1 a.m. She sent Jiang Zhe a message asking him to wake her up at 8 a.m., then hurriedly tossed her phone aside, reluctantly putting her novel away and trying to sleep.
She planned to wake up at 8 but ended up getting up at 9:30 instead. When she came out of her room, she saw Jiang Zhe and felt a bit of irritation. “I asked you to wake me up at 8. Why didn’t you?”
Faced with her annoyance, Jiang Zhe remained calm. “It’s okay, we can still make it.”
The issue wasn’t whether they were still on time but that he hadn’t followed her request, causing her to wake up late.
Jiang Yu grumbled slightly over breakfast but brightened up when they were about to leave. She wore a light beige hat with a bow, adding to her cheerful demeanor.
Jiang Zhe drove them out. After about half an hour on the wide road, they reached the mountain path. The roadside was already dotted with blooming peach blossoms. Jiang Yu opened the car door, inhaling the fresh air, and said with contentment, “The air here is so fresh, and it smells like flowers.”
Jiang Zhe didn’t smell anything but glanced at her as he drove, giving her a gentle smile.
His smile was charming and captivating, making Jiang Yu momentarily distracted. She turned back to enjoy the beautiful scenery outside.
After navigating the winding mountain road, they soon arrived at the area with the most peach blossoms. The mountains were covered in blossoms, and many people were taking photos. Jiang Yu got out of the car and, seeing the breathtaking view, exclaimed, “Wow, this place is so beautiful.”
If it weren’t for her heavy belly, she would have happily jumped and run forward.
Jiang Zhe, hearing her joyful reaction, felt happy as well. Clearing his throat, he asked, “Should we head up or…?”
There was a lovely, ornate tower further up, with people walking around and the faint sound of wind chimes.
“Let’s go forward. If you get tired later, we can rest,” Jiang Zhe said with a serious tone.
Jiang Yu was amused by his concern. “What’s there to force myself for? I’m not an idiot.”
Jiang Zhe said nothing more and led the way.
There were several paths up the mountain, and since Jiang Zhe didn’t like crowded places, they took a less-traveled route.
Jiang Yu loved the clusters of flowers around her and began taking photos. Meanwhile, Jiang Zhe pulled out his phone and, while she was distracted, took a few shots of her.
When Jiang Yu turned around after finishing her photos, she caught him taking pictures of her.
Noticing her, Jiang Zhe’s fingers curled around his phone.
Jiang Yu, surprised, asked, “Are you taking photos of the flowers too?”
Jiang Zhe, feeling a bit awkward, said, “Do you want me to take some photos of you? I can help.”
Jiang Yu wanted to be photographed but was concerned about how she would look with her belly. “Will it look bad?”
“It won’t.”
Even if the photos weren’t perfect, they would still be nice to keep. Jiang Yu agreed and was about to hand him her phone when Jiang Zhe said, “Use my phone.”
He had a little trick up his sleeve—he wanted to keep the photos of her on his own phone.
Since their phone cameras had similar resolutions, she didn’t mind and stood under a peach blossom tree, smiling as she waited for Jiang Zhe to take her picture.
After Jiang Zhe finished taking photos, Jiang Yu came over to check them out. The pictures were indeed well taken, much better than before.
“Not bad at all,” Jiang Yu praised, “It looks much better than last time.”
It wasn’t that the previous photos were bad, but this time, it seemed he had a better grasp of lighting and angles. It felt like he had gone from amateur to professional in no time.
This time, Jiang Zhe accepted Jiang Yu’s compliment naturally. After all, he had done some learning.
Of course, he wouldn’t tell Jiang Yu about his extra efforts. When Jiang Yu saw young women in flowing Hanfu taking photos among the peach blossoms, she slapped her forehead, feeling regretful. “I knew I forgot something. If I had brought my Hanfu, I’d be such a happy girl taking photos here.”
Hearing her, Jiang Zhe’s lips curved up slightly. “No worries, we can come again next time.”
Having already visited this year, Jiang Yu felt she wouldn’t come again just for photos, expressing regret. “Next time we come, we might have to bring the baby along.”
Jiang Zhe replied, “That’s fine.”
As long as he was with her, he’d be happy.
Jiang Yu soon let go of the issue and continued taking photos. After she finished, they moved on to the next spot.
They kept taking photos as they moved forward and eventually reached the tower. There was a narrow staircase to go up, but it was crowded. Being pregnant, Jiang Yu didn’t want to squeeze in with the others.
She decided not to go up. At that moment, Jiang Zhe’s phone rang. After taking the call, he told Jiang Yu, “On the way back, I need to stop by the office for about half an hour.”
Jiang Yu was surprised. “You have an office?”
Then she realized how silly her question was. Jiang Zhe’s character in the novel was a mysterious big shot, the kind of man who could help the male lead turn things around.
Jiang Zhe realized that she didn’t know about his real life. In fact, many of his family members didn’t know either. They all thought he was just an ordinary worker with slightly better conditions, unaware that he had his own company and was wealthier than they imagined.
Jiang Zhe suddenly felt it was necessary to show Jiang Yu.
