Chapter 14: Holding the Person in Your Arms
Yang Xichen then spread cream and piped decorations on the filled cakes Haitang had made.
Looking at the beautiful piped decorations on the small cakes, Haitang’s hands itched, and she said to Yang Xichen, “Brother Xichen, I want to try piping too.”
Yang Xichen handed her the piping bag filled with cream.
But Haitang was doing it for the first time and had no experience, so she squeezed out too much cream at once.
Seeing this, Yang Xichen stepped forward, took the piping bag from Haitang’s hand, squeezed out a beautiful flower shape while explaining the technique to Haitang.
Then he handed the piping bag to Haitang, and after Haitang took the piping bag, he held her hand and circled her in his arms, saying, “Come, let me show you how it feels first.
With your understanding and learning ability, you will learn it quickly.”
With Yang Xichen teaching her hand-in-hand, he would notice and remind her immediately if Haitang used too much force.
Or he could correct her immediately if the angle of her wrist rotation was wrong.
With Yang Xichen’s guidance, Haitang quickly mastered the knack and immersed herself in the fun of squeezing flowers.
And Yang Xichen’s attention had long shifted from teaching Haitang how to pipe flowers to the little person in his arms.
It was also because he had circled her in his arms that he realized how small the little girl was, her height only reaching his shoulder.
Why hadn’t he noticed it before? As soon as this thought arose, something occurred to him, and his ears suddenly burned, and his breathing became erratic.
Haitang was squeezing flowers with great enthusiasm when she suddenly felt a continuous and somewhat hot breath on her ear, and her movements suddenly stopped.
At the same time, Yang Xichen, who was unable to restrain himself, suddenly heard very slight footsteps just as his thin lips were about to touch Haitang’s ear.
He immediately woke up and subconsciously released Haitang and took two steps back.
Haitang turned to look at him as he retreated, and asked in confusion, “Brother Xichen, what’s wrong?”
“Someone’s coming, I’ll go out and take a look, you continue squeezing flowers.” After explaining, Yang Xichen took a finished small cake and turned to leave the baking room.
Haitang wasn’t worried about his safety. Anyone who could enter the cake shop was either the boss with the key or an employee.
On the other side, Yang Xichen walked out of the baking room with the finished small cake and met a mixed-race man of similar age to him.
When the man’s teasing gaze landed on the small cake in Yang Xichen’s hand, the teasing words that were about to come out of his mouth immediately turned into doubt: “Why is this cake so small, but it’s quite exquisite.”
Yang Xichen handed the cake to the other party: “The new product developed by the little birthday star, try it!”
The man took the small cake, turned to go to the front desk of the cake shop, took a spoon from the cabinet, scooped a piece of cake and put it in his mouth.
As the cake entered his mouth, the aroma of peaches quickly filled his mouth, followed by the milky aroma of the cake.
With a slight sip, the cake melted in his mouth, and the diced peaches hidden in the cake filling burst open, and the sweet and refreshing taste of the fruit neutralized the greasiness of the cream.
His eyes lit up immediately, and he finished the small cake in a few bites.
Then he commented with lingering interest: “Delicious, the taste is richer than pure cream cake, the aroma of peaches is very attractive to children and ladies, but the amount is too small.”
Haitang, who had squeezed flowers on all the small cakes, had no more flowers to squeeze, and Yang Xichen hadn’t returned to the baking room after leaving, which made her a little worried, so she came out to find him.
She happened to hear the mixed-race man’s words to Yang Xichen, so she explained, “I deliberately made this small portion.
Currently, in our country, birthday cakes are only eaten on birthdays.
Part of the reason is that birthday cakes are linked to birthdays.
But the main reason is that most people don’t have a lot of money.
And a cake is not cheap, so they are only willing to splurge on the special day of their birthday.
But if we abandon the concept of birthday and divide a birthday cake into multiple portions, then its price will be relatively lower.
This will increase the number of people who can afford it, which indirectly increases the turnover.”
The mixed-race man immediately gave a thumbs up: “The little birthday star is not only creative, but also has a good business mind. Are you interested in joining my dessert kingdom?”
Yang Xichen then introduced Haitang to him: “This is my friend, Keane Gray. His mother is Chinese and loves our Chinese culture very much.”
“Hello, Little Haitang.” Keane extended his hand to Haitang.
Haitang shook his hand lightly, then released it and answered his question, “Mr. Gray, I am still a student. After school starts in September, I will devote myself to studying.”
Keane instantly understood what the little girl meant and quickly explained, “I’m sorry, I didn’t make it clear. I don’t want to hire you, but I hope you can invest with your creativity.
You only need to provide creativity, and I have professional pastry chefs in my hands for product development.”
Haitang was a little tempted. With the development of the economy, the market for Western desserts will be very large in the future.
But she felt uneasy about only providing creativity and being able to own shares, so she subconsciously looked at Yang Xichen.
Yang Xichen reminded, “Tangtang, creativity is not a talent that everyone has.”
Then he paused before continuing, “You should think about this matter carefully before giving Keane an answer.”
After speaking, he looked at Keane again and said, “We made a lot of peach small cakes. You can put them on the shelves for trial sales today to see the audience.”
Keane nodded in agreement, and Yang Xichen turned and returned to the baking room, took the cake they had made together, and left the cake shop.
When they returned to Xu Yanran’s place, it was already past eleven o’clock. Aunt Wang, the nanny who took care of Xu Yanran, was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen.
Haitang originally planned to help, but was stopped by Xu Yanran, after all, she was the birthday star today.
The next day, Yang Xichen received a call from the army saying that he had an urgent mission and needed to leave. He told Haitang to stay at Grandma’s place and hurried back to the army.
Three days later, Keane came to visit Xu Yanran and mentioned the cooperation with Haitang again.
This time Haitang agreed to cooperate, investing with her creativity and obtaining 5% of the shares in Keane’s cake shop.
Then she gave Keane the recipes for several flavors of small cakes and focused her energy on writing.
Before school started in September, she submitted two short fairy tales and one medium-length fairy tale to Huaxin Publishing House, and all three manuscripts were accepted.
The next day was September 1st. Haitang was packing her things, preparing to move back to the family building of the machinery factory.
Xu Yanran then led an aunt in her forties, who looked ordinary but had a kind smile, into her room.
“Grandma Xu, who is this aunt?” Haitang heard the movement, turned around and saw Xu Yanran and the aunt beside her, and asked.
Xu Yanran smiled and said, “Xichen is away on a mission and I’m worried about you living alone, so I wanted to find someone to take care of you.
It just so happens that this is your neighbor across the street, who is looking for a nanny job.
In the future, her job will be to clean the house and pick you up from school.”
