Chapter 3: Breathing disorder
“Tangtang, don’t be afraid, it’s me.” Yang Xichen raised his hand to pat the little girl’s shoulder and comforted her softly.
Hearing Yang Xichen’s voice, Haitang turned around and threw herself into Yang Xichen’s arms, burying her head in his chest, and choked, “Brother Xichen, I’m so scared, it scared me to death.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m here.” Yang Xichen stroked Haitang’s back to comfort her, while looking worriedly at Du Cong and Hai Jinbao not far away. If this continues, I’m afraid someone will die.
Thinking this way, Yang Xichen tried to push Haitang away and said in a negotiating tone, “Tangtang, you first…”
“Brother Xichen, don’t leave me.” Haitang still rested her head on his shoulder, while trying to keep Yang Xichen and shaking her head.
After speaking, her hands resting on Yang Xichen’s chest slid from under his armpits to his back, tightly hugging him.
She had to entangle Yang Xichen no matter what, and not let him easily rescue Hai Jinbao. She screamed so loudly because she was planning to use Du Cong’s hand to cripple Hai Jinbao.
And because Haitang shook her head, her soft hair swept across his neck, bringing a burst of tingling sensation, Yang Xichen paused his hand pushing her.
Just a moment of pause, the little girl suddenly hugged him tightly and her whole body pressed against him.
Feeling the softness with a clear outline on his chest, thinking about what it was, Yang Xichen’s breathing suddenly became disordered, and his body tightened subconsciously.
And at this time, the patients in the wards were awakened by Haitang’s screams and came out of the wards, and the quiet corridor suddenly became noisy.
But Yang Xichen couldn’t hear these noises. All he could hear was his own heartbeat, which was very violent and very fast.
“Quick, call a doctor.”
It wasn’t until the female police officer’s urgent order sounded that Yang Xichen came back to his senses.
Haitang also let go of Yang Xichen at this time and stepped back from his arms.
With his arms empty, Yang Xichen only felt as if a piece of his heart was missing. That empty feeling was only transferred when the female police officer found Haitang.
“Comrade Haitang, you are a witness to the homicide. Can you tell me about the process of the homicide?”
Haitang nodded, subconsciously raised her hand to hug herself, leaned her back against the wall, and then slowly opened her mouth: “I wanted to go to the toilet, and when I came out of the ward, I saw my cousin and Du Cong. At that time, Du Cong’s expression was like a wild beast about to eat people. I was scared and shouted.
Then Du Cong knocked my cousin to the ground without warning, grabbed my cousin’s hair, and controlled my cousin’s head to smash it on the ground desperately.
I, I was so scared, I didn’t dare to go forward to save my cousin at all. If, if my cousin really died, then, am I also the murderer who killed my cousin?”
After speaking, Haitang looked at the female police officer with tears in her eyes, and at the same time, her body couldn’t help but tremble.
Seeing her frightened and self-blaming, the female police officer’s heart softened, and she comforted her softly: “Comrade Haitang, you can’t think like that. Judging from Du Cong’s expression, he is obviously mentally abnormal.
Even if you could have mustered the courage to save people at that time, you, a little girl who doesn’t know any martial arts, wouldn’t be able to save people. On the contrary, you might be beaten by Du Cong together.”
After comforting Haitang, the female police officer said to Yang Xichen, “Comrade Yang, I’m going to send Du Cong to the police station. Please take care of Comrade Haitang here.”
“Okay.” Yang Xichen nodded lightly.
After the female police officer dispersed everyone, Yang Xichen supported Haitang back to the ward before speaking: “You rest, I’ll wait over at the operating room, so I can know whether Hai Jinbao is dead or alive.”
Haitang grabbed Yang Xichen’s hand, and said timidly, “Brother Xichen, are you angry?
I’m sorry, I delayed you from saving people.”
The moment Haitang’s little hand held his hand, Yang Xichen only felt as if the place where his skin was in contact with Haitang’s little hand was being electrocuted, tingling, numb, and itchy.
He felt that his condition was obviously wrong, and he hardened his heart to withdraw his hand.
Then he patted Haitang’s shoulder comfortingly and said, “No, compared to the unrelated Hai Jinbao, I care more about you.
Besides, Hai Jinbao brought Du Cong to the hospital so late at night, obviously with no good intentions. It was his own fault that he was injured by Du Cong.
I just saw you so panicked, thinking of personally guarding outside the operating room, and telling you the situation of Hai Jinbao as soon as possible.”
Of course, this was just an excuse. Yang Xichen wanted to take this opportunity to calm down alone.
But Haitang didn’t know. She was thinking at this moment, if she stayed alone in the ward to rest, would it seem too cold-blooded and unfeeling.
With this worry, she suggested: “Brother Xichen, I’ll go with you to wait for news.”
Yang Xichen thought for a while, and finally nodded in agreement, and the two went to wait outside the operating room together.
About half an hour later, the door of the operating room opened.
The doctor, who was over half a century old, took off his mask and came to Haitang, and said with a face full of apology: “Comrade, we tried our best, but your cousin was too badly injured and died after rescue.”
Hearing this news, Haitang’s legs softened, but fortunately Yang Xichen was quick-witted and grabbed her waist, supporting her.
“Thank you, doctor, we understand, but my sister needs time to recover, you go ahead and get busy!” Yang Xichen replied to the doctor for Haitang.
Looking down at the little girl with tears on her face, he felt extremely distressed, so he hugged her into his arms and said, “Tangtang, it’s not your fault, don’t blame yourself, and don’t feel guilty.”
Haitang buried her head in Yang Xichen’s arms and hummed softly.
And she was crying uncontrollably, not as Yang Xichen said, self-blaming or guilty.
Originally, this ending of Hai Jinbao was caused by her alone. She was just crying with joy because she had avenged the great revenge of her previous life.
As for her legs softening, it was because she hadn’t recovered from her illness, and after such a toss, she was exhausted.
After crying for a while, Haitang said softly, “Brother Xichen, I can’t walk anymore, can you carry me back to the ward?”
“Okay.” Yang Xichen responded softly and picked her up horizontally.
Haitang naturally wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his neck.
The tingling sensation brought by her soft hair sweeping across his neck was not as great as the stimulation brought by her side peak tightly pressed against him.
Summer clothes were already thin, and with her pressing so tightly, he could clearly feel the outline of her side peak.
Yang Xichen’s body tightened uncontrollably, and at the same time, a heat rushed straight to the top of his head. For the first time, he felt that the little girl he was holding was very hot.
But he couldn’t throw her away, so he could only try his best to ignore the suggestive feeling.
Finally, he sent her back to the ward and settled her on the bed. Yang Xichen was covered in a thin layer of sweat.
Haitang looked at Yang Xichen covered in sweat and thought that she must be too heavy, look how tired he was, and quickly said, “Brother Xichen, thank you for carrying me back to the ward in this hot weather.
You have sweated a lot, use my towel and washbasin to wash at the water room, it will be much more comfortable.”
