The Demon Venerable’s Wistful Desire
Translator: She.Wee
Chapter 84: The Savior in Pink
Chi Muyao always had a habit of leaving himself a way out.
Before he met Xi Huai, he had already begun stockpiling Yixian Grass seeds while at He Huan Sect, planning to join the Yu Chong Sect and live a carefree life if he ever managed to escape.
Just before entering the formation, he instantly realized this was a perfect opportunity to change his identity and had Yi Qianxi hide his life lamp for him.
No matter how slim the chances of survival were, Chi Muyao never gave up hope; this was his usual approach.
Now that he and Xi Huai had successfully left the Heaven’s Punishment Formation, his first priority was to inform those who cared about him that he was safe, to put their minds at ease.
Next, he would quietly change his identity so he could follow Xi Huai to Qingze Sect in the safest manner.
Hearing about the separation made Xi Huai instinctively uneasy. After all, their experiences apart hadn’t been pleasant.
After a moment of hesitation, Xi Huai reluctantly said, “I’ll go with you to Yu Chong Sect. I’ll just send a voice transmission talisman to my father to let him know I’m safe.”
“You going would be too conspicuous; everyone recognizes you. How would I hide my identity then? I will use He Huan Sect’s illusion techniques and a fog jade to disguise myself before going. I’m going to Yu Chong Sect just to reassure them and check on the fawn, then I’ll head to He Huan Sect before finally going to Qingze Sect to find you.”
“The fawn?” Xi Huai asked, puzzled.
Chi Muyao suddenly remembered and asked, “Have I not told you everything about the Colourless Yunni Deer?”
Xi Huai, feeling a bit aggrieved, nodded, “No, you haven’t.”
“I’ll explain everything when I get to Qingze Sect, alright?”
In the end, Xi Huai agreed, though he was quite reluctant when it came time to part.
A tall man pulling on Chi Muyao’s sleeve and looking at him with a face full of melancholy, saying nothing but expressing all his reluctance through his eyes, was quite a sight.
Chi Muyao sighed helplessly and patiently comforted Xi Huai.
Xi Huai took out several new voice transmission talismans and had Chi Muyao infuse them with spiritual power to recognize him as their master. In the cultivation world, using voice transmission talismans was convenient, and Xi Huai’s collection contained high-grade ones. Only the Heavenly Descent Purple Lightning talisman, used by Nascent Soul stage venerables, surpassed these in quality.
After completing this, Xi Huai reluctantly agreed to part ways.
They roughly determined their current location and then flew to a familiar area using their flying artifacts.
Chi Muyao once again used the lotus leaf flying artifact Xi Huai had given him. Sitting in the center of the lotus leaf, he watched the beautiful scenery pass beneath him, with birds flying alongside.
Clouds trailing mist, the wind rustling, bringing a refreshing coolness.
The willows danced gracefully, and the bright sun shone on the reeds.
It was just past spring and nearing summer, with today’s temperature being just right—not too hot, not too cold, making it a pleasant journey.
He enjoyed the process immensely, a smile spreading uncontrollably across his face. It felt so much better to be in the world again; the vast landscapes were a stark contrast to the suffocating formation.
Along the way, he found two teleportation arrays, and after flying through the air for a while longer, he finally arrived at the Puhe Mountain Range.
He didn’t take a boat but flew directly to the entrance of Yu Chong Sect. Upon arrival, he saw a sign saying “No Visitors,” which puzzled him.
Yu Chong Sect rarely put up such signs since they usually did business daily. Their poverty made them loath to turn away any chance of earning spirit stones.
Seeing Yu Chong Sect close its doors, as if courting destruction, was strange.
Feeling uneasy, Chi Muyao approached to knock, but a cold voice stopped him: “No need to knock. Only a few young disciples are left to care for the spirit beasts. Your senior sister, master, and sect leader are all away.”
Chi Muyao stepped back and saw Blue Fox sitting on the wall, surprised. “Where did they go?”
“To exterminate demons.”
These two words filled Chi Muyao with a terrible premonition. He quickly asked, “What demon extermination?”
Blue Fox lazily leaned against the wall, his clothes loosely draped over him, barely lifting his eyes as he patiently explained, “They said some sect called Qingze Sect exhausted its resources to build a teleportation array, leaving them weakened. Nuanyan Pavilion wanted to take this chance to attack the demon sects, organizing a mission called ‘Exterminate Demons,’ and created an extermination order. Your three people were forcibly summoned.”
Hearing this, Chi Muyao’s face instantly turned pale. He stumbled a step and then quickly took out his flying artifact, planning to rush to Qingze Sect.
Blue Fox jumped down to his side, “Take me with you; I might be able to help.”Last time Chi Muyao was in danger, Blue Fox was too weak to assist, leaving him regretful.
Even spirit beasts have a sense of gratitude, so this time Blue Fox volunteered to help.
“Alright!” Chi Muyao knew his abilities were limited, so any help from Blue Fox would increase his chances of success.
The two boarded the flying artifact together, and Blue Fox began to complain, “The cultivators in this sect are so stupid. None of them have realized I’m a transformed spirit beast and treat me with no respect! They keep feeding me raw meat every day, thinking I’m being picky when I refuse to eat it.”
Chi Muyao, worried, spoke little, “You only show the strength of a profound-level spirit beast.”
“After transforming back into my original form, that’s all I can manage.”
“Yes.”
“So they didn’t even consider taking me along.”
It was clear that Blue Fox was resentful because Yi Qianxi hadn’t taken him.
Since learning about the demon extermination mission, Chi Muyao had been extremely anxious. He feared not only for Qingze Sect but also that He Huan Sect might get involved.
He learned from Blue Fox that during the time he and Xi Huai were trapped in the Eighty-One Formation, Nuan Yan Pavilion’s previous sect leader had perished.
The former sect leader was severely injured by Su You, indirectly dying because of him. Yu Chaoluo’s master had also died early on, possibly at Su You’s hands.
Now, Xian Yue Tianzun was the acting sect leader. Due to her unstable foundation and opposition, she had not yet become the official sect leader.
Chi Muyao had expected a great battle between the two realms after the death of Nuan Yan Pavilion’s former sect leader, but he hadn’t anticipated that the catalyst would be Qingze Sect’s weakened state from rescuing him and Xi Huai.
It seemed Xian Yue Tianzun wanted to do something significant to solidify her position as sect leader, and this was the perfect opportunity.
Battles between realms always resulted in casualties. Even if Xi Huai survived by luck, he would carry a tremendous guilt.
Xi Huai originally had no heart demons and wasn’t troubled by anything, but if this incident caused him to develop one, it would be unforgivable.
So, there could be no mishaps!
Blue Fox noticed Chi Muyao’s anxiety and asked, “Did your little Dao partner come out with you?”
Chi Muyao snapped back to reality and replied, “Yes, we used Qingze Sect’s teleportation array to escape. How has Yu Chong Sect been during this time?”
Blue Fox, always appearing boneless and lazy, liked to lean on things. At this moment, he leaned on Chi Muyao, but Chi Muyao pushed him away, “Ancestor, my Dao partner is very jealous.”
Blue Fox had no choice but to revert to his fox form and sit in Chi Muyao’s arms.
Chi Muyao quickly stored Blue Fox’s clothes.
In his fox body, Blue Fox could only communicate through divine sense, “At first, your junior sister cried a lot, but later she improved and began to practice diligently. Recently, she has reached the late Foundation Establishment stage. With a few more years of accumulating spiritual power and some elixirs, she can attempt to form a core.”
Chi Muyao couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Yi Qianxi was a very good girl; as long as she was unaffected and living well, he would be at ease.
The Azure Fox Ancestor continued, “Those two at the Golden Core stage spend all day researching and tending to the spirit herbs, treating them like treasures. Their main focus is the fawn they’ve hidden away. They don’t seem to be cultivating much themselves.”
Mentioning this made Chi Muyao realize he should have checked on the fawn earlier, but in his haste, he had forgotten.
However, upon reconsideration, he decided not to disturb them. Even if Yilan and the others left the sect, they would certainly protect the fawn well. If he went over rashly, he might disrupt their arrangements.
While on his way, Chi Muyao asked, “Do you know where they gathered? When did they leave? What’s the current situation?”
“Roughly nine days ago, they set off after gathering. The demonic sect has spies among the righteous sects and learned of the plan early, so they were somewhat prepared. However, their main fighting force is currently very weak, unable to match the righteous cultivators. As for their current location and situation, I’m not sure since I was left behind at the Yu Chong Sect.”
On his way to the demonic sect’s territory, Chi Muyao regretted parting ways with Xi Huai. If they hadn’t separated, they could face these matters together and discuss countermeasures.
But now, it was just him and the Azure Fox Ancestor, making him very anxious about the unknown.
Thus, he tentatively summoned the Dao Companion Knot, following its guidance to find Xi Huai. As long as the knot was intact, it meant Xi Huai was safe.
Couples who held ceremonies would have Dao Companion Knots and Imprints, allowing them to sense each other’s state.
In hindsight, he wished he had secretly formed a Dao Companion Imprint with Xi Huai before parting. Who could have predicted such a significant event would occur from a simple journey to report their safety?
Listening to his sighs, the Azure Fox Ancestor grew irritated, coiling up to take a nap.
Chi Muyao also pondered strategies, not disturbing the Azure Fox Ancestor further.
Man and fox were silent, with nothing to say to each other for a long time.
After a while, Chi Muyao remembered to ask, “Ancestor, I don’t know your name. How should I address you?”
“…”
The Azure Fox Ancestor pretended to sleep.
As a fox, he naturally had no name, and after transforming into a human, he never gave himself one.
Strictly speaking, aside from the name Yi Qianxi gave him, he had no other name.
But the name Yi Qianxi gave him… better not mention it.
Xi Huai noticed that his sound-transmitting talisman had not been opened for a long time, sensing something was wrong.
At the demonic sect’s border, he didn’t act rashly but switched to low-altitude flying with an invisibility artifact in hand.
He had used this artifact when sneaking into Chi Muyao’s room. Now that he was at the Nascent Soul stage, using this artifact again meant he could evade detection unless someone’s cultivation was higher than his.
Entering the demonic sect’s territory, he first saw a group of righteous cultivators and sneaked into their midst to eavesdrop on their conversations.
Most of the cultivators here were at the Foundation Establishment and Golden Core stages. The higher-level cultivators were gathered together, overseeing everything, making it easy for Xi Huai to infiltrate.
While lurking among them, he used his keen hearing to listen to everyone’s words, learning the truth of the situation.
Even though their discussions weren’t very detailed, he could piece together the whole picture.
At this point, he was glad Chi Muyao wasn’t there. In such chaos, if Chi Muyao were by his side, he would have to divert his energy to protect him.
After investigating, Xi Huai quietly left the crowd and found a safe place to send a sound-transmitting talisman to Chi Muyao.
He knew Chi Muyao would soon hear the news and rush over, so he needed to reassure him.
The current situation was not good. The Warm Smoke Pavilion, leading other sects, had already wiped out several small demonic sects. The battlefield had now shifted to Qingze Sect.
Previously, the demonic sect had chosen a Demon Lord, but their “Demon Lord” was caught in a heavenly punishment array and hadn’t accomplished anything significant. Now, the demonic sect was still in disarray.
The righteous sects had arrived, and only then did the demonic sect start to unite, gradually gathering at Yunwaitian, seeking the shelter of Qingze Sect.
Xi Huai thought for a while and decided he should join the people of Qingze Sect.
After some consideration, he turned back. Since he had come to this place, he couldn’t leave empty-handed.
He took out the cultivation technique Chi Muyao had copied for him from the Wanbao Bell, recited the incantation silently, and began to practice.
Feeling that he had mastered it, he re-entered the crowd from before.
Without anyone noticing, Xi Huai activated the technique.
The air seemed to ripple, and the crowd heard a ringing in their ears. In the next breath, hundreds of cultivators collapsed simultaneously.
This move was a group attack spell that caused a buzzing in their minds, rendering them unconscious.
This state could only be undone by him. Until then, these people were no different from soulless husks.
The ancient technique was indeed effective, though it consumed a lot of energy. He needed to meditate and recover.
Xi Huai looked at the fallen crowd with satisfaction, wanting to boast to Chi Muyao: Look, I didn’t kill indiscriminately but neutralized a group of enemies. The righteous cultivators couldn’t kill them if they didn’t want them to become useless.
He realized he missed Chi Muyao again. Chi Muyao would praise him if he were there.
High-level cultivators quickly noticed something was wrong and rushed over. By the time they arrived, Xi Huai had already left.
These cultivators checked their disciples’ condition, shocked and confused by the calamity that had befallen them.
Only one elder recognized the technique and exclaimed, “It’s the Bell-Ringing Crane! This technique, wasn’t it lost long ago? Is Su You here?!”
“Only Su You knows this method, but wasn’t he in the heavenly punishment array? Could he have escaped?”
“Su You never sides with anyone and dislikes peace between the two realms. What’s going on this time?!”
If the demonic sect had Su You’s strength, they might need to reconsider their plans…
Author’s Note:
In love mode: This place is so dangerous, it’s good that my wife isn’t here. But I miss his praise… Ah, I miss my wife… Oh well, this place is too dangerous. Ah, I miss my wife…
Reflecting on the whole book, this is a story of a protagonist who turns dark because his wife wouldn’t let him kiss her, cultivates because he’s afraid she’ll run away, and becomes the Demon Lord to quickly capture her. What on earth did I write…
Explanation:
The division between the demonic sect and the righteous path is due to different cultivation methods. The demonic sect often uses unconventional methods such as corpse refining, blood-sucking, and dual cultivation, all non-standard ways of cultivation. Later, if a cultivator practices normal methods but joins a demonic sect, they are also considered demonic cultivators.
The demonic sect, filled with practitioners of these malicious methods, is detested and thus defined as evil.
Hey Guys it’s SheWee!!
Gawd I am exhausted. I spent my entire day looking up laptops to buy but can’t decide which would be a good one. I thought of buying a MacBook but it costs around $900 and all I have is $600. I am thinking of asking my parents but they’ve already spent soo much last month on my tution (near about $10,000) and they’d have to do this every year so I don’t have the heart to ask them. Ugh. Do you guys have any suggestions? Also I sat on my glasses and broke ’em. Right now I am squinting my eyes real hard while writing this.
If you like my work then please support me by buying me a ko-fi.

Am I too late? Not a gamer but I needed big storage too. Imo, the most important thing is a large enough RAM. You can add extra disk space but limited RAM can mess your work up. I’d say go for the largest RAM you can afford and think of it as an investment for the future, then look into storage space as the second factor.
thank u for the chapter! maybe u can try looking at HP or Acer for laptops. afaik they’re way cheaper than macs
yeah but I need one with Great storage and a good for gaming as well. well I am looking into Acer, hp as well as Lenovo for now.
Lenovo’s are good laptops, they have good ram and memory, they also have heavier black/gray ones and lighter zilver ones, both with good specs (also not as expensive as macbook)
Breaking your glasses is really terrible, maybe you can fix them with epoxy?
I broke mine last year and that’s what I did(I also had a second pair with the same prescription).
Thanks for the translation) (≧▽≦)
I am actually postponing buying a laptop till December (as I’ll probably get some discounts then) and well also because I needed money for some other things. lol as for glasses, I bought a new pair since I had this one for 2 years. also thank you as well as you’re welcome <3
It’s always a good idea to check for discounts, I’m currently having an issue where a second hand laptop can’t charge because of a broken charger, I’ve already replaced the charger and battery once so I’m considering getting a new one.
Where I live some stores currently have big discounts, in December it’s usually more expensive but they do put up big DISCOUNT adds, but that might not be the same in all countries.
Sometimes discounts happen at weird times, like april.
Hopefully the glasses’ll stay okay, maybe you found out you’ve got a new prescription, after 2 years that can definitely happen.
(^_^)/~~
thank you for your advice <3 I'll definitely keep that in mind!
