Chapter 86: The Savior in Pink

The situation was urgent and lives were at stake. Xi Huai had no time to consult Chi Muyao about whether the techniques of the seniors who had turned into Green Underworld Streamfire could be passed on.

He decided he would repay the Kong Qing seniors someday and ensure that this technique would not be shared further. For now, he had to use it.

He instructed his disciples to summon the thirty-two palace masters, all the Nascent Soul stage deities of Qingze Sect.

Once these deities had gathered, Xi Huai solemnly said, “I accidentally stumbled upon an ancient Heavenly Punishment Array and gained an opportunity within. I acquired a technique that can quickly absorb spiritual energy, which helped me advance to the Nascent Soul stage rapidly.

Currently, your spiritual energy is depleted, which is an ideal state to utilize this technique. Using it will expedite your recovery of spiritual energy.”

“However, this technique is not my creation. It’s only for emergency use, and I hope you will all swear by your heart demons that you will not pass it on to others in the future.”

Hearing Xi Huai’s words, the palace masters were overjoyed. These esteemed deities, in this moment, were like young disciples, learning the technique from a man in his twenties.

They were all talented and had reached the Nascent Soul stage, with high comprehension abilities, making them quick learners.

The Moon Sovereign Palace Master remarked, “This technique is straightforward, without the convoluted language usually found in such texts.”

Xi Huai smiled slightly, “Yes, my Dao partner reorganized the language, making it simple and easy to understand.”

Dao partner?

Had their relationship been confirmed already?

The Moon Sovereign Palace Master glanced at Xi Lin, who showed no reaction, still concentrating on regaining his spiritual energy. Relieved, he continued, “Good… After I defeat those bastards, I’ll visit your Dao partner. Last time he wore a mask, so I didn’t see his face. I’ll bring a gift, of course.”

Xi Huai nodded, “Alright, I’ll go reinforce the protective array with Song Weiyue and the others.”

Xi Huai, along with Song Weiyue and others, moved to the eye of the protective array of Qingze Sect. The Golden Core stage cultivators of Qingze Sect followed his instructions to reinforce the array methodically.

He located key positions and retrieved artifacts from his Ten Thousand Treasures Bell, which he had brought from the Heavenly Punishment Array. Chi Muyao had given him these items to use during his tribulation to reach the Divine Transformation stage.

He hadn’t thought much of them, figuring it didn’t matter who held them. Now, they were coming in handy. These artifacts, having endured two lightning tribulations, still held abundant spiritual energy and were extremely protective, making them perfect for reinforcing the array.

After this reinforcement, the array could hold out for another day or two, giving Xi Lin and the others time.

In the array, Chi Muyao had also found a storage bracelet he couldn’t open due to his low cultivation. Xi Huai now tried to open it and took out everything inside.

The bracelet contained a pill furnace, herbs, and some auxiliary artifacts, indicating its previous owner was likely a pill cultivator.

The artifacts inside, though not directly soaked in the spiritual spring, were still from ancient times and were used to further reinforce the array.

What did Qingze Sect lack the least? Resources, as they were considered the “rich tycoons” of the cultivation world.

After completing these tasks, Xi Huai and his disciples selected more items from the warehouse, ensuring the protective array could hold for another six days without issue.

They watched from within the array as those trying to break in grew increasingly frustrated, feeling a sense of satisfaction.

Tianzun Xianyue rushed over and shouted at Xi Huai through the array, “Even if a few more days pass, you won’t be able to turn the tide.”

Xi Huai ignored her and returned to Qingze Sect

.He inquired about which sects had come seeking refuge. Having grown up in the demonic sects, he knew these sects to some extent. After hearing the report, he summoned several sect leaders.

In the West Hall conference room, Xi Huai sat alone at the head of the table, fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest, scanning the room as he thought.

He knew these people wouldn’t fare well in a direct battle, so he wouldn’t force them into one. Instead, he assigned them tasks suited to their abilities, such as poisoning, ambushing, or stealing artifacts during battles.

The leader of the Thousand Hands Sect said, “Venerable Lord, if you send me to steal things, I could even swipe Tianzun Xianyue’s bellyband without her noticing.”

Xi Huai nodded and tossed him a Ten Thousand Treasures Bell, “This belongs to Su You. Can your sect open it?”

At the mention of Su You, many in the room shuddered, knowing he was someone not to be trifled with.

The Thousand Hands Sect leader trembled as he said, “This is Su You’s…”

“I’ve already killed him, so you don’t need to worry about retaliation. He had no disciples or relatives. What’s inside might be useful. If you can open it, you may choose two artifacts from within.”

The room fell silent.

Su You was dead?

Without a sect or a life lamp, this couldn’t be verified. However, if Su You wasn’t dead, how did his Ten Thousand Treasures Bell end up in Xi Huai’s hands?

Rumor had it that Su You and Xi Huai entered the Heavenly Punishment Array together. Did something happen there?

The Thousand Hands Sect leader’s eyes lit up. Using his artifact manipulation technique, he took the Ten Thousand Treasures Bell and said, “This is a bonded artifact. Forcibly opening it requires certain methods.”

Xi Huai nodded, “You have one day to open it in front of me. If you can’t, I’ll find someone else.”

Su You, a fearsome Nascent Soul peak cultivator, had many techniques, some of which were ancient and lost. His Ten Thousand Treasures Bell likely contained valuable items. Even selecting just two would be worthwhile.

The Thousand Hands Sect leader quickly agreed and began using his sect’s techniques to forcefully open the bell in Xi Huai’s presence.

Standing up, Xi Huai addressed everyone, “You chose me as the Demon Venerable, but I was swept into the Heavenly Punishment Array and couldn’t contribute much or bring about any changes, for which I am responsible.

“Now that the demonic sects are in trouble and we are gathered here, I will not stand idly by.”

“Today, as we face the enemy together, we are temporary allies. After this cooperation, I don’t care whether you acknowledge me as the Demon Venerable. But for now, I hope you will not hold my youth and lack of experience against me and will follow my arrangements.”

The sect leaders who came here intended to seek refuge and naturally had to follow Qingze Sect’s arrangements.

The Sect Master of Qingze Sect was busy rapidly recovering his spiritual energy and had no time to deal with them, so the young Sect Master, Xi Huai, had to take charge.

Moreover, they had already chosen Xi Huai as the Demon Venerable. Xi Huai was extraordinarily talented, having reached the Nascent Soul stage at such a young age, and his future was limitless. They did not want to provoke him.

Xi Huai’s words were polite, acknowledging his faults and youth and not forcing any post-action obligations. Naturally, they gave Xi Huai some respect.

Xi Huai intentionally displayed Su You’s Ten Thousand Treasures Bell to let everyone know he had killed Su You.

Su You’s infamy was widespread. Knowing Xi Huai had killed him would certainly establish his authority and control over these people.

Now, as Xi Huai spoke, everyone readily agreed, with no dissent.

Xi Huai assigned tasks based on each sect’s strengths. His arrangements were meticulous and well-organized, impressing everyone.

After these assignments, the sect leaders no longer doubted him.

Lowering his voice, Xi Huai said coldly, “If people do not offend me, I will not offend them. But since they have come to provoke us, we need not show mercy. If we are merciful today, these hypocritical righteous sects will only become more shameless in the future. We need to make them feel pain so they remember.

“The sect leaders responded in unison, “Yes!”

“The Demon Venerable is right!”

Song Weiyue and Zong Sichen, listening from the side, couldn’t help but admire, “At crucial moments, the young Sect Master is reliable.”

“As long as A-Jiu doesn’t run away, the young Sect Master is capable.”

Before blending into the Nuan Yan Pavilion crowd, Chi Muyao changed into a smoky blue Taoist robe, used a disguise technique, and wore a veil hat.

To be safe, he took a pill to change his voice back to his original sound.

Now, with various sects gathered, it was easy to hide among the crowd.

He searched quietly among the crowd, where many sect cultivators were gathered.

Luckily, the Nuan Yan Pavilion cultivators had a fixed position. After an hour, he finally found his junior sister, Lou Qiongzhi.

Lou Qiongzhi did not recognize him at first. Hearing the familiar voice of “A-Jiu,” she was surprised, her eyes reddening momentarily before she controlled herself.

With many people around and high-level cultivators monitoring with divine sense, they communicated by squatting in a corner and writing in the dirt, erasing each message immediately with artifact manipulation.

Chi Muyao learned the situation from Lou Qiongzhi: while attacking small sects, they were also breaking Qingze Sect’s protective array.

The young Sect Master of Qingze Sect had returned and reinforced the array, so the final battle might not start for a few more days.

“You can’t enter Qingze Sect.”

Seeing Lou Qiongzhi’s message, Chi Muyao felt dejected. He wanted to be with Xi Huai and wondered how the Qingze Sect seniors were faring after being severely injured. Perhaps he could help?

While Chi Muyao pondered, Lou Qiongzhi sneakily glanced at the Azure fox Ancestor accompanying him several times.

The Azure Fox Ancestor had used magic to change his hair color to look more ordinary. Yet, his outstanding appearance still drew attention, and it was normal for Lou Qiongzhi to want to look at such beauty more.

He nudged Lou Qiongzhi and wrote a reminder: Dangerous person.

Yi Qianxi wasn’t scared, responding with: Even more thrilling.

Chi Muyao felt a bit melancholy. He stood up and stood beside the Azure Fox Ancestor, just in time to see Lou Qiongzhi walking by. She passed them without a glance.

Chi Muyao watched Lou Qiongzhi for a long time, feeling a bit guilty that he couldn’t greet her.

Turning back, he noticed the Azure Fox Ancestor staring at Lou Qiongzhi.

Lou Qiongzhi, having grown up in Hehuan Sect, noticed immediately and sighed, “Heart has a desire, huh?”

Startled, Chi Muyao asked the Azure Fox Ancestor in a whisper, “Junior Sister doesn’t sleep with you, does she?”

The Azure Fox Ancestor looked at him without answering, but Chi Muyao saw a slight smile on his lips…

“…just in time to see Yi Qianxi walking by. She passed them without a glance. Chi Muyao watched Yi Qianxi for a long time, feeling a bit guilty that he couldn’t greet her. Turning back, he noticed the Qinghu Ancestor staring at Yi Qianxi.” Should all of the “Yi Qianxi” in this part I just quoted be “Lou Qiongzhi” instead?
