Chapter 2

After getting home, Xu Zhilu greeted Aunt Liu.

Aunt Liu looked at her, “Miss, did you get wet?”

“Nope.”

Xu Zhilu smiled, reaching out to hug Aunt Liu, gently rubbing against her, and said softly, “Aunt Liu, I missed you so much.”

Aunt Liu was taken aback, amused and touched, she patted her head, “What’s wrong, were you bullied by classmates at school?”

Xu Zhilu shook her head, “No, I just missed your cooking.”

When she woke up in the morning, she was still in shock, went to school in a daze, and didn’t have time to talk to them much.

Aunt Liu had watched her grow up, spending more time with her than her own parents.

In her previous life, Aunt Liu had advised Xu Zhilu many times, hoping she wouldn’t change herself for Shen Siyan.

Aunt Liu didn’t dislike Shen Siyan, she also liked that kid, but she didn’t agree with Xu Zhilu’s views on love back then.

She had been through it and could see things more clearly.

Xu Zhilu thought that if she had listened to Aunt Liu earlier, things wouldn’t have turned out the way they did.

Aunt Liu, listening to her, chuckled and said, “Alright, alright, I’ll go cook for you now. Your parents…” She paused before saying quietly, “They went to watch a performance with your sister.”

Xu Zhilu was momentarily stunned, her eyelashes fluttering. “Okay, I got it.”

The house was quiet as Xu Zhilu carried her school bag upstairs.

She put her bag on the table, looked at the rain stopping outside the window, and her lips curled up slightly.

Thinking about Shen Siyan’s expression just now made her feel delighted.

The emotions she had nowhere to vent found a temporary outlet. It was childish, but she felt a great sense of satisfaction.

Shen Siyan always thought her kindness to him was deserved, and he had always been accustomed to Xu Zhilu being nice to him.

Thinking about it, Xu Zhilu sneered. It was time for him to experience some disappointment.

After laughing for a while, Xu Zhilu’s smile faded, and her lips pressed into a straight line.

She rubbed her eyes, then turned and went into the bathroom.

After taking a shower, Xu Zhilu went downstairs to eat.

Just as she started eating, the doorbell rang.

Aunt Liu hurried to the door, and Xu Zhilu raised her eyebrows, saying, “Aunt Liu, check who it is first.”

Aunt Liu looked through the peephole and then turned to her, “…Miss, it’s Siyan.”

Xu Zhilu was startled but said without hesitation, “No need to open the door.”

“What?” Aunt Liu looked at her in disbelief.

Xu Zhilu smiled slightly and said unhurriedly, “We had a fight. I don’t want to see him.”

Aunt Liu responded with an “Oh,” and then said, “Alright.”

She closed the peephole and muttered as she turned away, “Did the boy walk home in the rain? He’s soaked through.”

Listening to Aunt Liu’s muttering, Xu Zhilu continued eating without any expression.

She had to admit, what she missed most when she went to college far away was Aunt Liu’s cooking.

When Shen Siyan got home, his mother was on the phone with her friends, planning afternoon tea for the next day.

She glanced up inadvertently and saw her son completely soaked, even his hair.

She was taken aback and asked, “Siyan, did you walk home in the rain?”

Shen Siyan mumbled a “Yes.”

His mother quickly ended her call with her friends and frowned at him. “What happened?”

She looked out the window and asked, “Didn’t Uncle Liu say he was picking you and Zhilu up? Didn’t you come back with her?”

Shen Siyan replied, his face dark as coal, “No.”

He glanced at his mother, frowning, “Mom, I’m going to my room first.”

His mother looked at his impatient expression for a while, then gave his shoulder a heavy pat and complained, “I just asked you a couple of questions, and you’re already annoyed. Take a shower and then come eat.”

Shen Siyan ignored his mother’s nagging and dragged himself into the bathroom.

He looked at himself in the mirror for a moment, then poured cold water over his head.

His mother vaguely felt that something was off with her son, but she suspected it was just a phase, so she didn’t ask much.

Shen Siyan was already a man of few words, and in his current bad mood, he didn’t say anything. After eating, he went straight to his room.

That night, Shen Siyan hardly slept.
