Chapter 3
Xin An’an was speechless for a moment.
She wanted to say something, but before she could get the words out, Xu Zhilu placed a pen on her lips and smiled, “An’an, pay attention in class.”
The sunlight outside was bright, streaming through the glass. Xin An’an looked down at the pen on her lips and felt her heart race.
Xu Zhilu didn’t think there was anything wrong with her actions. She held the pen against Xin An’an’s lips with her left hand while taking notes with her right.
After a while, Xin An’an came to her senses and moved Xu Zhilu’s hand away, mumbling, “Okay, I’ll listen.”
Xu Zhilu gave her a suspicious look, feeling something was off but not pressing further.
When the bell rang for break time, Xu Zhilu collapsed on her desk to nap. She hadn’t slept well the night before and planned to catch up.
She had just laid down when the classroom became restless.
Xin An’an tugged on her clothes and whispered in her ear, “Zhilu, Zhilu!! Why is Shen Siyan moving his desk to our class?!”
Xu Zhilu: “…”
Not only was Xin An’an shocked, but the other classmates were also looking at Shen Siyan in disbelief.
What was going on? Why was he switching classes all of a sudden?!
One of Shen Siyan’s basketball buddies called out, “Brother Yan, are you transferring to our class?”
Shen Siyan lifted his eyes, giving the classmate a look as if asking, “Isn’t it obvious?”
The classmate awkwardly rubbed his nose and muttered, “Why the sudden change?”
Shen Siyan didn’t answer. Cheng Song, who followed him in, replied, “Brother Yan wants to change classes. Why ask so much?”
Cheng Song was often with Shen Siyan, practically a partner in crime.
With his temper, once he snapped at them, no one dared to ask more questions.
Unable to afford to offend them, they chose to avoid them.
Cheng Song looked around the classroom, “Brother Yan, where do you want to sit?”
Shen Siyan glanced around and casually pointed, “Over there.”
Cheng Song followed his finger and widened his eyes.
He muttered, “You want to sit behind Xu Zhilu?”
Shen Siyan didn’t even spare him a look and moved his desk over.
Xu Zhilu always sat in the last row, not because the teacher assigned her there but because she chose it herself. She excelled in her studies, so the teacher let her have this small privilege.
Cheng Song stared at Shen Siyan, exchanging confused glances with the other students.
No one knew what Shen Siyan was thinking.
Watching him settle his desk, the students instinctively looked at Xu Zhilu.
Everyone knew that Xu Zhilu liked Shen Siyan.
During the previous class arrangement, Xu Zhilu had wanted to be in the same class as Shen Siyan but was rejected by the teacher.
So now, everyone was eager to see her reaction.
But—
Xu Zhilu hadn’t moved from her spot.
The students couldn’t believe their eyes.
Could it be that Xu Zhilu didn’t know Shen Siyan was here?
One student called out loudly, “Xu Zhilu, Shen Siyan is here.”
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, she moved her head slightly, changed her position, and continued sleeping.
…
The break lasted only ten minutes and passed quickly.
Cheng Song glanced at Xu Zhilu’s back, whispering to Shen Siyan, “Is Xu Zhilu in a bad mood today?”
Shen Siyan turned his head and glared at him, “Shut up.”
Cheng Song: “…”
He mumbled, “Brother Yan, you’re in a bad mood too.”
Without waiting for Shen Siyan’s reaction, he quickly added, “Brother Yan, I’m going back to my class. I’ll apply to switch classes next period so I can join you!”
“… Get lost.”
–
The teacher didn’t seem surprised to see a new student in the class.
Xu Zhilu propped her head up, listening to the lesson, when someone poked her back with a pen.
She didn’t move.
“Xu Zhilu.”
Xu Zhilu frowned and turned to look at him, her expression impatient, “What do you want?”
Shen Siyan nodded faintly and said, “I forgot to bring a pen, lend me one.”
Xu Zhilu smirked, “I won’t lend, only sell.”
Shen Siyan asked, “…How much?”
Xu Zhilu turned around, smiled slightly, and said, “One hundred yuan each.”
She didn’t believe Shen Siyan, this fool, would actually buy it.
As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Siyan lowered his head, checked his wallet, and without hesitation, stuffed one hundred yuan into her hoodie pocket, succinctly saying, “Pen.”
Xu Zhilu: “…”
Sure enough, he’s an idiot.
A straightforward transaction.
Xu Zhilu didn’t hold back, accepted the hundred yuan, and tossed a pen to him.
Xin An’an stood nearby, puzzled by what she was witnessing.
Why did it feel like their roles had been reversed?
