Chapter 45
When he got closer, his warm breath was all over her ears.
Xu Zhilu instinctively wanted to step back, but before she could, Shen Siyan pulled her hand and continued walking.
She snapped back to her senses.
The red light had changed, and people were walking across the street.
She glanced at her wrist, held by Shen Siyan. His broad, warm hand made her eyelashes tremble slightly.
She didn’t pull away. She didn’t want to and wasn’t really willing to.
After crossing the street, Shen Siyan didn’t let go of her hand, and they continued walking in this awkward position.
It took about ten minutes to reach the community.
Xu Zhilu remained silent, and so did Shen Siyan.
The ten minutes passed quickly, almost in the blink of an eye.
Before Xu Zhilu could fully come to her senses, Shen Siyan stopped.
“We’ve arrived.”
Xu Zhilu looked up and saw the familiar gate of the community.
She replied, “Then I’ll go in first. You should head back too.”
Shen Siyan tilted his head and looked at her. “That’s it?”
Xu Zhilu looked at him in confusion. “Do you have anything else to say?”
Shen Siyan chuckled, thought for a moment, and said, “It seems like something is missing.”
“?”
Xu Zhilu looked at him, puzzled.
Shen Siyan smiled and said, “I’m a little thirsty.”
Xu Zhilu responded, “Oh, there’s a store over there.”
Shen Siyan: “…”
He choked and nodded in understanding. “I don’t want to drink mineral water.”
Xu Zhilu: “…”
She was silent for a few seconds, then said softly, “I only have mineral water at home.”
For a moment, they both fell silent. Xu Zhilu suddenly regretted what she had just said. She bit her lip in frustration and added before Shen Siyan could speak, “…and yogurt.”
She looked at Shen Siyan and asked, “Do you want it?”
Shen Siyan looked her straight in the eyes and ruffled her hair with his hand. “Do you know what you’re implying?”
Xu Zhilu just looked at him.
Shen Siyan smirked. “Forget it, I’m not thirsty anymore.”
He said, “I’ll drink it when I get home.”
“Oh.”
Xu Zhilu adjusted her clothes and said, “Then I’m leaving.”
Shen Siyan nodded. “Go ahead and get some rest.”
Xu Zhilu nodded, took two steps forward, and then looked back at him.
“Shen Siyan.”
Shen Siyan looked at her.
Xu Zhilu, with her green almond eyes, asked, “Do you remember what you said to me before?”
Shen Siyan was stunned.
Xu Zhilu whispered, “You said you would always love me. Do you still remember?”
Shen Siyan nodded.
“Now that it’s a few years earlier, will you still feel the same way?”
She asked softly, “After a few more years, do you still have the same answer?”
Shen Siyan walked forward, stood in front of her, bent down, and looked at her.
Her appearance was reflected in his eyes as he said seriously and affectionately, “Yes.”
He added, “I will love you as long as my life lasts.”
He made a serious promise: “It will never change.”
Xu Zhilu looked at him with trembling eyelashes.
This promise was exactly the same as what he had said when he proposed to her in her previous life. Instantly, her suppressed emotions overwhelmed her, and she couldn’t control it.
Seeing her tears, Shen Siyan panicked.
“Don’t cry.”
His voice was a little hoarse. “It’s my fault.”
“No,” Xu Zhilu said tearfully, “It’s me.”
If she hadn’t been so pretentious, this wouldn’t have happened.
She reached out and hugged Shen Siyan, crying, “Then you have to keep your promise.”
Shen Siyan’s body stiffened, but he held her close and whispered, “I will.”
He said firmly, “Xu Zhilu, I will remember every word I said to you, and I will keep my promise.” He whispered, “Don’t worry.”
Xu Zhilu didn’t say anything, but her arms around his waist tightened.
Shen Siyan paused but didn’t push her away.
They stood at the entrance of the community, hugging for a long time.
When she was finally tired of standing, Xu Zhilu buried her head on his shoulder, wiped her tears, and whispered, “I want to go back.”
Shen Siyan chuckled. “Do you want me to walk you back?”
“…” Xu Zhilu pursed her lips. “That would be nice.”
Shen Siyan said, “Hmm. Then I’ll take you to your doorstep.”
“Um.”
Xu Zhilu, feeling too embarrassed to look up, was sure her face was still red from crying.
They walked slowly into the community, towards the familiar building.
When they entered the elevator, Xu Zhilu hid behind Shen Siyan, as there were other people in it.
He smiled silently, curling his lips.
After they reached the 25th floor, Shen Siyan looked at her and said, “We’re at the door.”
Xu Zhilu responded, “Oh.”
She looked at Shen Siyan and started to speak, but he interrupted, “Does the yogurt you mentioned before still count?”
“…”
Xu Zhilu choked, nodded, entered the password, and pushed the door open. “It counts. Come in.”
She moved aside to let Shen Siyan enter the house.
Once inside, they changed their shoes.
Xu Zhilu instinctively went to the kitchen. “There are two bottles of yogurt with different flavors. What flavor do you want…”
Before she could finish, Shen Siyan pulled her into his warm embrace.
Xu Zhilu was stunned and didn’t have time to react.
He bent down and kissed her.
His lips were as soft as she remembered, gently grazing her lips. After sensing Xu Zhilu’s acquiescence, he deepened the kiss.
…
When the kiss ended, Shen Siyan held her face, gazing deeply into her eyes, and said softly, “Sweet.”
“…”
Xu Zhilu subconsciously licked her lips. “Unsweetened yogurt.”
Shen Siyan smiled softly, rubbing her cheek with his fingers. “I’ve already had it.”
Xu Zhilu: “…”
Seeing her red ears, Shen Siyan chuckled softly and leaned in to kiss her again.
“Xu Zhilu.”
Xu Zhilu opened her eyes and looked at him.
Shen Siyan said, “Let’s have a longer relationship.”
Xu Zhilu was taken aback.
He continued, “It’s a bit complicated being reborn, since I’m not of legal marriage age yet.”
“…”
He nuzzled her nose and asked gently, “Okay?”
Xu Zhilu replied, “We’ll talk about the future in the future.”
Shen Siyan smiled and pulled her into his arms. “Okay.”
He was silent for a moment before adding, “From now on, you have a boyfriend, so don’t try to handle everything by yourself, okay?”
“…” Xu Zhilu thought about it but reluctantly responded, “Got it.”
After hearing her response, Shen Siyan finally felt relieved.
They hugged for a long time. Only when Shen Man called did Shen Siyan reluctantly leave.
_
After everyone had left, Xu Zhilu went to the bathroom.
She looked at herself in the mirror and reached out to touch her lips, still tingling from Shen Siyan’s kiss.
She licked her lips and subconsciously knocked her head against the wall.
She must be crazy.
Or maybe Xin An’an’s words had spurred her on.
Since they had been reborn and still liked each other, why waste any more time?
Xu Zhilu thought about it and finally understood.
Xin An’an was right; they should seize every moment they have together.
As she was thinking, Shen Siyan’s message arrived.
Shen Siyan: Get in the car.
Xu Zhilu: Oh.
Shen Siyan: I’m really thirsty now.
Xu Zhilu: …Then go home and drink some water.
Shen Siyan held the phone and smiled. OK.
The driver, observing him, smiled and asked, “Young man, are you chatting with your girlfriend?”
Shen Siyan raised his eyebrows. “Is it that obvious?”
The driver nodded. “Maybe you’re in the honeymoon phase.”
Shen Siyan thought for a moment and said, “Hmm.”
People in new relationships often experience passionate love. He and Xu Zhilu would always be in that passionate phase.
