Gu Yundong let out a “ha” and punched him in the stomach.
Liangzi nearly vomited, his eyes widened as he struggled to curse, “You… little brat.”
Just as Liangzi’s family arrived and witnessed this scene, they immediately rushed forward to attack her. “Where did this lowly girl come from? She just arrived in our village and dared to confront people from our village. Do we not have anyone in our family?”
The one cursing was Liangzi’s mother, Jin Yuexiang, a woman in her forties, running with small steps.
The first one to rush forward and attempt to strike her was Liangzi’s father, Hu Qianlai, his large hand like a bowl about to come down on her head.
However, just as he reached Gu Yundong, he heard a cold sneer, followed by a pain in his stomach, and he stumbled back two or three meters.
“Tsk.” It was fortunate that Hu Qianlai was well-built; otherwise, he wouldn’t have stumbled back but been sent flying backward.
Nevertheless, Hu Qianlai was very angry, but his stomach hurt too much. He hadn’t expected this girl’s kick to be so powerful, like that of a grown man.
The two of them dared not advance any further, but they looked at their son tied up there, feeling both distressed and furious. They could only stand back and curse, “Who’s son became a thief? It’s you who’s the thief. You’re just trying to shift the blame onto our son after being caught stealing by our son? With parents like you, it’s no wonder your son became a thief.”
The pain in Liangzi’s stomach finally eased, and he didn’t see his father being kicked away. When he came to his senses, he heard his own mother’s curses and hurriedly nodded in agreement, “Yes, yes, yes. We just found her associating with people of bad character, corrupting the atmosphere of our village, so we wanted to catch her in the act. But we didn’t expect that man to resort to violence, knocking all four of us out.”
As Liangzi spoke, he felt as if he had discovered the truth. He became more excited as he spoke, “That man caught us the night before last, locked us in the house, and beat us all day long. Look at the injuries on our faces; that’s how they happened, just to force us to confess to stealing money.”
The more Liangzi spoke, the more he felt like this was the case. Otherwise, why would they have all passed out as soon as they entered the courtyard the night before? They had been hungry all day yesterday and had been beaten all day.
He refused to believe that a little girl like Gu Yundong could do this. There must be an accomplice.
Unfortunately, what he said sounded like it could be true. The villagers watching nodded and whispered to each other, finding some sense in it. Some even began to gossip.
However, Liu Guihua spat a sunflower seed shell onto Liangzi’s face with a “pah.” “You have no shame. Everyone in our village knows who you are. You’re known for stealing chickens and dogs. Everyone knows your character. Daring to splash dirty water on a little girl, aren’t you afraid of retribution?”
Liangzi glared at her fiercely. “How did I splash dirty water? It’s not just me who saw it. Don’t believe me? Ask Zhuangzi and the others, isn’t it?”
