The Eldest Sister Has Space
The Eldest Sister Has Space Chapter Three: I’m Hungry

When Gu Yundong woke up again, she found herself on Yang’s back, hearing her heavy breathing as she walked.

Yang was frail, and Gu Yundong could clearly feel her shoulders trembling as if they might break if she wasn’t careful.

“Dongdong, Dongdong, are you awake?” Yang slightly turned her head, her face full of joy as she spoke.

Gu Yundong then noticed the backpack hanging in front of Yang, and the little girl inside was still sleeping soundly, oblivious to everything.

Gu Yunshu also heard the movement and quickly raised his head, “Sister, are you awake? Hang in there a little longer, we’re almost there.”

“Where are we going?” Gu Yundong asked hoarsely.

The path they were on was narrow, with few people around, and it was already getting dark. They needed to find a place to stay overnight.

“We’re going back to the village we went to last night to spend the night. It’s closer.” Gu Yunshu raised his head, wiped his face, and forced a smile. This decision was made by him, and he was actually quite anxious about it, not knowing if it was right or wrong.

After all, compared to the unknown direction ahead, he could only return to a familiar place, and his sister needed rest, which made him quite worried.

Gu Yundong then noticed a mark on his neck, coupled with his somewhat large head, making it particularly eye-catching and shocking.

Her face sank slightly, “What about Gu Dahe?”

“He took Sister’s silver and ran away.” Gu Yunshu finally couldn’t hold back, the smile on his face faded, and he lowered his head to wipe away his tears, “Yunshu is useless, couldn’t protect Sister or keep the silver. I’m sorry.”

Gu Yundong wanted to tell him not to cry; she had spent a year in the apocalypse and understood that tears were the most useless thing. If the silver was gone, it was gone; what was the use of crying? There would be a chance to get it back later, no big deal.

But she quickly realized that this wasn’t the apocalypse, and Gu Yunshu wasn’t a stranger; he was her brother.

But she didn’t know how to comfort him. Fortunately, Yang’s voice came quickly, “Ashu, don’t cry. It’s your uncle’s fault. We’ll ignore him in the future. Mother loves you.”

Gu Yunshu was comforted. He sniffled forcefully, “I won’t cry. I’m the only man here, I won’t cry.” Saying that, he hugged the potato sack in his arms and puffed out his chest.

Gu Yundong: “…”

Fortunately, they soon reached the village they were staying in. The village was quiet, with almost no one left. People had either died or fled, searching for a place to survive.

Gu Yunshu originally wanted to go to the house they visited yesterday but was stopped by Gu Yundong. In the end, they chose a house a bit away from the village center. It wasn’t large, but it was secluded and quiet, with only two neighboring households.

Once inside the house, Yang carefully set Gu Yundong down.

Gu Yundong’s strength was slowly returning, but she still felt a bit dizzy from the blow to her head earlier.

Gu Yunshu carefully placed the potatoes in front of her and said, “Sister, you rest first. I’ll go find some firewood.”

He was very sensible, trying to smile when talking to Gu Yundong, not letting her worry.

After speaking, he turned to look for firewood. Gu Yundong watched him with a worried expression, afraid that his head would break at any moment.

He returned shortly with two bundles of thin firewood and called out to Yang, “Mom, help me close the windows.”

“Sure.” Yang was handing a bamboo jug to Gu Yunko to feed him water, and the little girl finally showed some signs of consciousness.

Once the windows and doors were closed, Gu Yunshu began roasting the potatoes.

Gu Yundong watched as he took out… two small potatoes from the sack and carefully skewered them, turning them over the fire. When they were ready, he handed one to her.

The other one, he carefully peeled and gave to Gu Yunko.

Then, he extinguished the fire.

“Big sister, you eat. I’m not hungry.” Although he said so, his eyes couldn’t help but drift towards the potato, then quickly lowered his head again.

Yang’s response was more direct. She swallowed hard and said, “…I’m hungry.”
