An Xin: “…”
Oh no, one more step and they might make an irreversible mistake. Although that mistake had already been made, she couldn’t afford to make it again.
An Xin Subconsciously let go of her hold. Her hazy mind suddenly flashed to a scene from the previous night when she dreamed of hugging a large stuffed animal.
Suddenly, she realized the truth—she had mistaken the man beside her for her beloved body pillow, which must have made him sleep uncomfortably. That was probably why Bai Yichen had pulled her into his arms, leading to the intimate scene they woke up to.
The woman silently scolded herself in her heart:
“Sigh, what a sin!”
Habits, it seemed, could really cause trouble!
It looked like she needed to change her habit of hugging a stuffed animal to sleep. After all, her beloved plushie had been left behind in the 21st century. Now, the one sharing her bed was a person she absolutely shouldn’t cuddle.
In fact, Bai Yichen had been awake before An Xin. However, when he felt her holding his waist so tightly, he decided not to move, savoring the rare moment of intimacy between husband and wife.
Yet her subsequent reaction caught him off guard. Not only did she immediately pull her hands away like she had touched something hot, but she also scrambled out of his arms as though electrocuted. Her exaggerated movements made it impossible for him to pretend to stay asleep.
So, reluctantly, Bai Yichen opened his eyes. He saw the woman standing awkwardly by the bed, looking flustered and unsure of what to do. For some reason, his mood instantly brightened. With a faint smile, he lazily teased her:
“Up so early?”
It was only about six in the morning—what was the rush? Why couldn’t she have stayed for a little longer?
An Xin glanced at the man on the bed, his smile evident. Her face instantly burned with embarrassment as she fumbled for an excuse.
“Uh… I couldn’t sleep anyway, so I might as well get up and make breakfast!”
Hearing this, Bai Yichen swung his legs off the bed, sitting upright. Leaning back against the headboard, he cast a glance at the foggy rain outside and frowned slightly.
“Heavy rain today—it might affect your transport schedule, right?”
His words struck a chord, and An Xin’s face showed a trace of concern. Looking at the rain that refused to stop, she nodded.
“Yes, it’ll definitely slow us down.”
Rain like this didn’t just slow the pace of loading goods; it also affected the drivers and their vehicles. Visibility would be poor, forcing the trucks to move cautiously.
An Xin sighed inwardly, suddenly realizing how challenging it might be to transport all thirty thousand tons of goods within the agreed ten days.
Why hadn’t she factored in bad weather when signing that contract?
Bai Yichen got out of bed, swiftly changing out of his pajamas to reveal his perfectly toned muscles.
“Don’t stress too much. Safety should always come first on rainy days. For now, focus on moving as much cargo as possible.”
His calm reassurances were meant to ease her worries. After all, there were still several days left in the transport schedule. He’d think of a solution if needed.
Turning to grab a white tank top An Xin had prepared for him, Bai Yichen pulled it over his head with practiced ease. His movements revealed his sculpted back muscles and broad shoulders, radiating a subtle masculine allure.
An Xin’s gaze involuntarily lingered on his wheat-toned skin, leaving her momentarily entranced.
Oh my, this man’s body was absolutely top-notch.
Come to think of it, she’d hit the jackpot by landing such a fine specimen. Forget the awkward mishap on their first night together—dating someone like him might actually be worth considering.
Admittedly, though the details of that night were hazy, she hadn’t disliked the experience.
Before she could dwell on her thoughts, Bai Yichen turned around after slipping on his tank top. He caught her staring at him, her eyes a mixture of admiration and wonder.
With an almost imperceptible smile, he walked closer to her, his deep voice carrying a teasing tone:
“Do you like what you see?”
Still lost in thought, An Xin absentmindedly responded:
“Not bad. It probably feels good to the touch too!”
The words had barely left her mouth when she froze, realizing what she had just said. Her face turned beet red as she stammered for a way to backtrack.
“Ahem, I mean… the tank top! It looks soft and seems like it’d have good texture.”
Bai Yichen chuckled but didn’t expose her clumsy lie. Instead, he played along.
“Is that so? I think it’s quite nice too. Thanks for being so thoughtful in choosing my clothes.”
As he smoothed down his tank top, he moved even closer to her. His presence was commanding, and An Xin could smell the faint, pleasant scent unique to him. His deep eyes locked onto hers, brimming with warmth.
“Well… we’re family now, aren’t we? No need to be so formal!”
For some reason, her heart skipped a beat.
Why was it that even when he flirted with her like this, she couldn’t bring herself to dislike it?
Seemingly satisfied with her reaction, Bai Yichen nodded.
“That’s right. We’re family. Let’s not be strangers.”
His words carried a quiet certainty that left An Xin momentarily at a loss for words.
Noticing her flustered expression, Bai Yichen’s smile deepened.
Ever since they got married, An Xin had taken over managing his wardrobe. From socks to undergarments, she handled everything thoughtfully. It was something he had never experienced as a single man, and he had to admit—it felt good.
But the proximity and his subtle teasing were becoming a bit much for her. An Xin quickly turned on her heel, eager to escape.
“Change your clothes first. I’ll go make breakfast!”
Watching her retreat as if running for her life, Bai Yichen called out teasingly:
“You’re going down in pajamas? That’s not exactly appropriate.”
