The steak was cooked to 3/10, still bleeding.
But it was obviously fresh out of the oven, still steaming.
The steak was served on a black plate, adorned with two broccoli florets, two asparagus tips, and two slices of carrot.
It looked quite fancy.
However, after performing the dissection, most normal people would not want to eat such a bloody thing.
Lin Chu had to admit, the system did have a bit of a twisted sense of humor.
But she had never been a normal person.
After washing her hands, Lin Chu grabbed a clean surgical knife and began cutting the steak. The system started flashing some random codes in her mind.
【&%#¥@】
Lin Chu ignored it, leisurely eating the 3/10 steak.
She had to admit, the steak provided by the system was of quite high quality.
The 3/10 doneness preserved the beef’s original flavor—tender and juicy. After finishing, Lin Chu only felt like wanting more.
“Can you give me a 3/10 steak next time?”
The system did not respond. Lin Chu shrugged regretfully, then returned to the dissection room to begin the dissection of the second zombie body.
For the next three days, aside from eating and sleeping, Lin Chu was focused on dissecting zombies.
It had been five days since she arrived in the apocalypse world, and Lin Chu had gradually managed to extract some information from the system.
Everyone’s first world was random, and she just happened to be placed in the zombie world.
It was said that there were many zombie worlds in the task system, but there were also many other types of apocalypse worlds.
This meant that the probability of her next mission being a zombie world was quite low.
“Since the mission world will change, will the daily tasks refresh too?”
【Yes.】
Hearing the affirmative answer, Lin Chu increased her pace.
She was lucky that her first world’s daily tasks aligned with her specialty, allowing her to accumulate plenty of points. In the future, there might not be such a good opportunity, so she had to make the most of her time.
During these three days, Lin Chu would occasionally check the situation outside through the peephole before meals or bed.
A few times, she saw the twin-tailed girl dragging a zombie body back, or holding a large kitchen knife, leaving the house.
It seemed the other person had taken her advice, though she was unsure of the progress.
By the fifth day in the zombie world, Lin Chu had accumulated 250 points.
In these few days, she had dissected 12 zombie bodies.
After deducting the damage caused during the dissection process, the remaining bones and organs were exchanged for points.
This was Lin Chu’s maximum speed.
The daily tasks given by the system were meant for grinding points, but for an ordinary person, the efficiency of grinding points was quite low.
For example, the task requiring “complete zombie body parts” meant that none of the parts submitted could be damaged.
If Lin Chu submitted zombie parts as bones, she had to ensure each bone was intact, with no broken pieces.
Someone without medical expertise might not be able to do it so carefully. They would probably submit limbs or forearms and would need to ensure the limbs were complete, without even losing a single nail.
According to this calculation, for an ordinary person, one zombie would only exchange for 1-3 points. It would be difficult to accumulate 150 points in seven days to activate the anti-theft door.
As Lin Chu cleaned up the remains on her simple dissection table, she calculated in her mind.
She wrapped the remains in a disposable raincoat, casually tossing it into her space, then turned to count the intact bones. She had exactly 10, so she immediately opened the daily task panel and submitted them.
The system popped up the familiar prompt. Just as Lin Chu was about to look away, a new line of small text caught her eye.
【10 complete zombie body parts have been submitted. 1 point has been credited. (Task count +1, remaining task count 249 times)】
“System, what does this mean? Is there a limit to the number of times I can submit tasks?”
【Yes.】
“But the 250 submissions before didn’t have this task count prompt.”
【Task count reminder is activated after exceeding half of the submission limit.】
The system’s explanation made Lin Chu slightly displeased. “You added this restriction because I submitted too many tasks, didn’t you?”
【That is not the case, host.】
With that, the system went silent.
It didn’t even bother to explain further.
Lin Chu was at a loss, but at this point, she was like a fish on the chopping block.
Now, after dissecting 12 more zombies, she would reach the task submission limit.
Since she still had 25 days left in the zombie world, there was no need to rush.
Lin “Task Maniac” Chu suddenly felt relaxed.
Although she was restricted due to her professional alignment, she calculated that even so, she could still accumulate 500 points. Plus, with the daily task for zombie eyeballs, she could use the remaining time to gather more food.
After all, her space could freeze time, so food would remain in the same condition when taken out as it was when stored. It would stay fresh and never spoil.
That way, when she entered the next world, she would never starve.
At this thought, she suddenly asked the system, “The other daily task limit is also 500 times, right?”
As she spoke, Lin Chu was gently wiping the surgical knife she had just used with a blood-stained cloth.
The system was silent for a moment before replying:
【Host, that task’s limit is only 100 times.】
Hearing this response, Lin Chu froze.
So the system had set a limit to balance things out for those who were task-hungry.
Well, 100 times wasn’t too bad.
100 portions of food would be enough to last her for 30 to 40 days.
She turned and entered the bathroom, changed out of her dirty white coat, thoroughly cleaned her hands, and applied alcohol gel to disinfect them.
Rubbing her hands together, Lin Chu walked into the living room and sat cross-legged on the floor. From her space, she pulled out a plate of Italian meat sauce pasta, which she had exchanged with zombie eyeballs, and set it on the box she was using as a table to start eating.
She had never wasted any of her “turning waste into treasure” opportunities.
In three days, she had used it five times.
She had gained two boxes of edible but bland bread, one box of milk that helped her sleep, one box of milk that temporarily increased her strength, and one box of milk tea that refreshed her.
Although the bread wasn’t tasty, the milk that helped her sleep did make her fall asleep quickly without dreams, and the milk tea really did make her feel energized. Her dissection efficiency even increased.
None of the items had any side effects.
The milk that temporarily increased strength, however, she had not tried yet.
She planned to test it the next time she went outside.
There was one more “turning waste into treasure” opportunity left for today.
Lin Chu had already planned to use this last opportunity on the broken glass vending machine.
The shelter was too small, so after a quick glance around, she could only stand by the bathroom door, pulling out the white vending machine from her space.
