The End of the World Scavenger: I Win by Turning Waste into Treasure Chapter 49: The World of Flood (4)

“System, what’s the situation with a B+ level world?”

[Host, the water source in this mission world exerts excessive influence, and the system is currently unable to eliminate the interference.]

The system’s explanation seemed vague, but Lin Chu understood.

In essence, this was originally a B-level world, but for some unknown reason, the water source had an abnormally strong influence, disrupting the shelter’s original water supply and causing effects only typically seen in A-level worlds.

However, the rest of the difficulty remained at B-level. So the system simply tacked on a “+” and gave her some bonus survival points as compensation.

“My understanding is correct, right?”

[Correct, Host.]

Hearing the system’s confirmation, Lin Chu understood.

Since the only increased difficulty lay in the water source, it wasn’t too big of a problem.

In the last world, she had stockpiled enough purified water to last through four more worlds, with some left over.

So she wasn’t worried about the clean water supply at all.

In fact, completing the survival mission in this world would grant her 30 more points than a standard B-level world—a net positive for her.

With the difficulty issue settled, Lin Chu turned her attention to the most important tool for farming points: daily missions.

[Daily Mission (Optional): Submit 1 bucket (12L) of sludge from the floodwaters.
Reward: 1 bucket (12L) of purified water.]

[Daily Mission (Optional): Submit 10 dead fish or 2 live fish from the floodwaters.
Reward: 1 point.]

Just as expected.

The system’s daily missions were related to the fish in the floodwaters.

She had guessed as much while completing the reward mission earlier.

But this reward mission was ridiculously profitable.

Two live fish for 1 point—20 fish would only get her 10 points.

But she had just used items worth 10 points to redeem a 150-point reward.

An amazing deal.

Lin Chu was incredibly glad she had seized the opportunity and found the right tools to complete that reward mission.

Otherwise, to earn 150 points, she would’ve needed to catch 300 live fish.

That could take her until the end of time.

As for the sludge, she hadn’t seen any yet, but assumed it would likely be near the shore.

To collect sludge, she would need to move closer to the hills—or dive underwater.

But for Lin Chu, who had never learned how to dive, the latter was far riskier.

She’d have to play it by ear for the sludge collection task.

With that in mind, Lin Chu’s thoughts wandered.

These daily missions seemed to center around the specialties of each mission world.

For example, zombies in the zombie apocalypse world, or the giant fish in this flood world.

All of these were new species brought about by the apocalypse.

Zombies could infect people with a bite, but so far, the only strange thing about these live fish was their size. Lin Chu hadn’t noticed any other abnormalities yet.

Now that her high-strung tension had eased, drowsiness quickly crept in.

She slept straight through until sunset. Upon waking, Lin Chu had a meal and pulled out a bag of tomato seeds labeled “Tomato,” handing it to Xiao Er, who she had just released from her spatial storage.

“Sow the tomato seeds in the left section of the yard. Don’t plant too many—just take up a third of the space on the left.”

Xiao Er obediently reached out to take the seeds from Lin Chu’s hand.

There were multiple packs of tomato seeds. Lin Chu took a few more, placed a paper towel on a tray, scattered ten seeds on top, covered them with another paper towel, moistened it, and put the tray in a corner.

She had previously grown cherry tomatoes and used this same method to germinate them.

Now she was trying it with large tomatoes. Without a planting manual on hand, this was the best she could do.

Next came lettuce—much easier to grow. Lin Chu had experience with this too.

Lettuce could be harvested in about a month, and as long as the central core wasn’t picked, it would regrow in cycles, yielding a batch every few days.

She counted the seeds in the bag Hongfei gave her—easily over a hundred. Achieving lettuce self-sufficiency would be no problem.

Lin Chu placed the lettuce seeds in a small water basin and set an alarm for five hours later.

Even though she had just entered the flood world, she hadn’t forgotten her daily physical training.

Though she’d taken body-enhancing pills, she knew there would always be someone stronger out there, and she couldn’t let herself stagnate.

After a round of weighted physical training, Lin Chu took a hot shower in the bathroom.

Suddenly, it occurred to her that once the clean water supply stopped, she wouldn’t be able to enjoy hot showers so freely.

She had 12 tons of stored water, but it was all regular purified water.

To heat it, she’d have to use a kettle.

Thinking of her little 2L kettle, Lin Chu went silent.

Maybe she should start stockpiling clean hot water now.

The space could maintain water temperature—if she boiled water and stored it in containers, she could mix it with cold water later for use.

But her storage containers were limited.

Still, this was a residential area. Containers for water shouldn’t be hard to find.

She planned to look for more the next day.

When the 5-hour alarm went off, Lin Chu had Xiao Er scatter the soaked lettuce seeds in the right corner of the yard.

Since this was just the germination stage, spacing didn’t matter much—she let Xiao Er plant freely.

After all that, Lin Chu returned to her tiny 6-square-meter bedroom and went to sleep.

Meanwhile, her diligent skeletal robot Xiao Er continued squatting in the yard, seriously planting each seed into the soil just as instructed.

The next morning, Lin Chu got up at 6 as usual. After her workout, she walked into the yard, a slice of toast in her mouth and a glass of milk in hand.

There stood Xiao Er, upright at the doorway. When it saw her come out, its jaw moved up and down.

“Good morning, Master.”

Seeing Xiao Er, Lin Chu slapped her forehead. She’d forgotten to leave the door open last night, so it had stood outside the whole time.

Feeling a bit guilty, she replied, “Good morning.”

She glanced at the food in her hand and thought, Robots don’t eat…

There really wasn’t a proper way to make it up to him.

With guilt lingering in her heart, she assigned Xiao Er a new task—watering the garden as needed each day.

During the seedling stage, the soil had to stay moist.

She wasn’t sure if the land inside the shelter functioned the same as in the real world.

Since she had neither time nor energy to monitor it herself, she passed the task to Xiao Er.

Upon receiving the assignment, Xiao Er happily grabbed the watering can and squatted in the corner, staring intently at the soil without moving.

Lin Chu couldn’t help but facepalm.

Robots really were too literal—give them an order, and they’d follow it 100%.

But squatting there like that all day wasn’t practical.

So she called him back and gave him another job—helping to keep the shelter clean.

She was now treating Xiao Er like a proper housekeeper.
