Seeing Gangzi fall to the ground, Zheng Ziyu finally let out a long breath.

She looked up at Lin Chu and forced a smile. “I didn’t hold you back, did I?”

Lin Chu shook her head and gave her a reassuring smile. Taking advantage of the pocket’s cover, she pulled out a clean piece of cloth from her pocket.

It was a piece she had cut from a hospital gown over the past two days.

“Here, wipe the blood off your face.”

Zheng Ziyu thanked her and took the cloth Lin Chu offered. Obediently, she wiped the blood from her face and was about to bend down to help clean up the body, but Lin Chu shooed her away.

“Go back to the shelter and wash up properly. These men aren’t clean, and the medical conditions aren’t good right now. You don’t want to catch anything. I’ll handle it here.”

Zheng Ziyu was startled by this and immediately thanked her, saying she would come back to help after washing up, before heading back into the shelter to clean herself.

After sending Zheng Ziyu away, Lin Chu dragged Gangzi’s body in front of her shelter and, using the cover of a blind spot, stored the body in her space.

The blood of a living person and that of a zombie were different. Lin Chu didn’t want Ma Yan and the others to notice too soon.

She took a rag from her space and wiped the fresh blood off the ground, then took blood from the zombie’s body and reapplied it to the ground.

Just as she finished taking the blood, Zheng Ziyu came out, freshly washed, and saw Lin Chu setting up the scene. She came over to help.

After the blood was spread and the scene set, Lin Chu went back into the shelter and retrieved Gangzi’s shoes and the short, thin man’s shoes.

She put on Gangzi’s shoes and handed the short man’s shoes to Zheng Ziyu.

“Put these on.”

Zheng Ziyu hesitated a bit, but took them and asked, puzzled, “These are…”

“These are the short man’s shoes. We’ll wear their shoes and fake their movements. Otherwise, if two live people disappear out of nowhere here, that guy Ma will get suspicious.”

Lin Chu’s words implied that Zheng Ziyu had also activated her cat’s-eye vision.

If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have come out of the shelter in time to help her kill Gangzi.

Lin Chu led Zheng Ziyu to the entrance of Building 6, then turned back to the flower bed. They walked in circles around the area for three rounds before finally stopping at the base of a wall.

Zheng Ziyu glanced around and, uncertain, said, “This… seems like the window of our bathroom?”

Lin Chu nodded.

“Yes.”

Zheng Ziyu’s eyes brightened.

She had been wondering how to hide their movements, but Lin Chu not only thought of it but also led her through it.

Lin Chu knew by the look in her eyes that she understood her intentions, so she didn’t say anything more and carefully opened the cracked window.

The bathroom windowsill had always been higher, and Lin Chu measured it briefly. It was about at her chest level, so it would be difficult for her to climb in alone.

“You go first.” Lin Chu tilted her head to indicate Zheng Ziyu.

Zheng Ziyu thought Lin Chu wanted her to go in first and help her once inside. She didn’t ask any more questions. With Lin Chu’s help, she climbed onto the windowsill and jumped down.

If it weren’t for Lin Chu, Zheng Ziyu believed she would’ve shared the same fate as that cowardly man by now.

Although Lin Chu had said she was already paid, Zheng Ziyu kept this debt of gratitude in her heart.

Through these few days of interaction, Lin Chu had roughly figured out Zheng Ziyu’s character and knew she was a teammate who could be trusted, at least for now.

She nodded. “Don’t worry, if I really need you, I won’t hold back.”

When Zheng Ziyu heard this, she finally smiled.

After they said their goodbyes, they each went inside. Before closing the doors, they cleaned the footprints in front of them.

Although their method of cleaning the footprints wasn’t professional, with blood and stains all over the place, only a very skilled forensic investigator could identify the difference. For ordinary people, this level of cover-up was enough.
