Lin Chu looked down and found a small white pill in her hand.
Yu Hongfei had actually given her a health-enhancing pill first.
This was their first collaboration.
Seeing Lin Chu looking at him in confusion, Yu Hongfei grinned and showed a big white smile, “You saved my life. If I can’t trust you, who else can I trust?”
In an instant, Lin Chu felt as though she had gained the trust of two people.
But it was only a moment; the next second, she collected her emotions and smiled at both of them.
“Since you trust me, I’ll keep this for now, and I’ll come back at the same time every day.”
Neither of them had any objections.
After exchanging some information about the current situation in the area, the three of them were about to go their separate ways. Just as they turned around, Lin Chu remembered something and called Yu Hongfei.
“I remember there are a few fans in your building. Can you bring one over tomorrow? I’ll give you 2 points in exchange or trade you for some food.”
When Yu Hongfei heard this, he immediately waved his hand.
“Lin Chu, you’re not going to cheat me, are you? It’s just a small thing, no need to give me anything in return. I’m just helping out. It’s nothing. I’ll bring it tomorrow.”
Without waiting for Lin Chu to agree, he turned and left.
Zheng Ziyu, who had already returned to his shelter, heard this conversation and silently took note of it.
Lin Chu looked at Yu Hongfei’s retreating back and couldn’t help but silently facepalm.
She was really lucky to run into such straightforward people—two of them, no less.
After receiving the upfront payment, Lin Chu didn’t plan to use it right away.
She still remembered what Yu Hongfei said—that she could only take up to three of the health-enhancing pills; after that, they would lose effectiveness.
But the effect of the health-enhancing pill varied from person to person. If someone had good physical condition, the effect would be better.
She planned to do some physical training for a while, improve her physical condition, and then take the health-enhancing pill.
But before the next mission world began, she would still have to take at least one more.
To make the most of this pill, Lin Chu did another 3 hours of physical training that night.
It wasn’t clear whether it was the effect of the first health-enhancing pill, but although she had increased the intensity of the exercise, she didn’t feel too fatigued.
After sleeping and waking up, she was still energetic the next day.
As usual, she did her morning training, then spent the day in the anatomy room, and in the evening, she traded with her two partners.
This time, Yu Hongfei brought her two fans.
One was a standing fan with a rotating head, and the other was a small desktop fan.
Lin Chu was very satisfied with them.
However, Yu Hongfei insisted that this was just him helping her out and refused to accept any payment. Lin Chu had no choice but to give up.
At this time, Zheng Ziyu came over with a pair of clean white slippers, a thin rolled-up blanket, and a square blue seat cushion.
All three items were still in their transparent plastic packaging, clearly new and unopened.
“Here, these are things I found in the office upstairs. They’re all new.”
Seeing that Lin Chu didn’t immediately take them, Zheng Ziyu added, “These are just things I grabbed, no need to trade anything for them.”
Seeing that Lin Chu still didn’t reach for them, Zheng Ziyu directly stuffed the items into her arms, then turned and hurried into his shelter, closing the door quickly, as if afraid of being rejected.
Yu Hongfei, who hadn’t left yet, saw everything and couldn’t help but smile widely.
“Just take them. The two of us are just waiting for you to help us dissect zombies. It’s kind of boring. When we’re free, we go around scavenging. If you need anything, just tell us. I’ll help bring it if I see it.”
At this point, he had already been through three worlds.
In each one, he had been running around all day long just to complete daily tasks for points.
This was the first time he had so much leisure to stroll around, scavenging for supplies, without worrying about daily missions but still getting more points than he would have on a busy day.
He paused for a moment, scratched his head, and came up with an excuse, “How about… we call it a labor exchange?”
Lin Chu smiled slightly when she heard his suggestion.
“Sure, let’s call it a labor exchange.”
Lin Chu didn’t hesitate to accept.
She silently planned to take a day off later to take them to Building 8 and gather some medicine.
Since Ma Yan had already revealed her space in front of Yu Hongfei, she could bring them along to collect more essential medications, and they could all split them.
This way, they’d have a better chance of survival in the next world.
For the next few days, Lin Chu continued to trade with them. Yu Hongfei and Zheng Ziyu brought her all kinds of essential items they had scavenged.
From electric cookers, bowls and chopsticks, hand warmers, to tissues, even cushions, blankets, and clothing—they delivered everything in turns.
It was obvious that all of this came from the office workers’ supplies.
Most of the clothing was light jackets, since some office workers were afraid of the cold. The air conditioning was too cold in the summer, so they had to bring their own jackets to avoid freezing.
All the clothing came from Zheng Ziyu. Since Lin Chu was lacking clothes, and Zheng Ziyu, being a woman, noticed this, she started searching the office building every day.
The zombies on their floor had not been completely cleared out yet, so Zheng Ziyu could only clear them little by little. The space to search was limited.
Yu Hongfei, being a rough person, hadn’t noticed this at first. But after several days of seeing Zheng Ziyu bringing only clothes, he finally realized that they had just entered the apocalypse, and these basic clothing items were probably the most needed.
“Today, I found a courier station in our park. There are still many packages that haven’t been picked up. How about we go there sometime?”
Lin Chu and Zheng Ziyu both brightened at the mention.
They had both been office workers and knew that many female colleagues had clothes delivered to the office, so there would likely be food and daily necessities as well.
This large park could accommodate thousands of employees, and the station received hundreds or even thousands of parcels every day.
The zombie outbreak had been sudden, and when Yu Hongfei passed by, he saw many unclaimed parcels.
These items were scattered, and during the evacuation, very few people bothered to check the courier station.
This was perfect for them—those who had been thrown into the middle of this and had few places to scavenge for zero-cost supplies.
Lin Chu thought for a moment and then told them she was also planning to go to the medicine warehouse.
Medicines were always essential, especially in the apocalypse when hospitals were inaccessible, and one had to rely on self-medication.
The three of them hit it off immediately.
The next day, at 6:30 p.m., with the sky darkening, the three of them set off in the twilight.
