Their first stop was the delivery station that Yu Hongfei had seen not long ago.
They needed to cross the road outside the pharmaceutical park.
This was the road Yu Hongfei took every day to meet Lin Chu for their exchanges.
Previously, Ma Yan and his group had already cleared out the zombies on this road. Plus, with Yu Hongfei walking it daily, any zombies that wandered over were promptly dealt with by him.
So now, this road was clear and unobstructed.
The delivery station was located in the northwest corner of the software park.
Ma Yan’s original shelter was in the southeast corner of the park—directly diagonal from it.
According to Yu Hongfei, he and Ma Yan’s group had been deployed into this world at the same time. Their drop point was the south gate of the software park.
Because the time to establish shelters was limited, everyone basically settled nearby.
Ma Yan’s group directly took over a building.
The others had no choice but to avoid them and find shelter elsewhere.
Still, many didn’t escape the purge Ma Yan carried out that day.
After the shelter was destroyed, they left the park and hadn’t been seen since.
After crossing the road and entering the software park, Lin Chu and her companions headed west. The number of zombies gradually increased.
All three grabbed their weapons and began clearing them out.
Yu Hongfei wielded a black telescopic baton. Lin Chu glanced at it and, noticing its unusual sheen, immediately recognized it as likely system-issued.
Also using a baton, Yu Hongfei had copied Lin Chu’s head-smashing technique.
His previous style, though efficient, often led to broken bones.
Zheng Ziyu used a cleaver.
It wasn’t an ordinary kitchen knife, but the kind of wide, pointed butcher’s knife used to cut pork at markets.
The blade was smooth, the wooden handle a reddish-brown, and the entire knife looked like a seamless, natural creation.
Definitely not something allowed in an office building.
Also system-issued.
After so many days, Lin Chu had more or less figured things out: the system’s starter pack differed for everyone.
She had gotten a spatial backpack, while others might receive weapons or drugs—items beyond their world’s technology.
Clearly, the system had tasks for them and wasn’t just bored.
If it needed them, it had to equip them with tools for survival—so they could serve it.
The three system-equipped workhorses cleared out the dozen or so zombies wandering near the delivery station.
Once no more zombies were around, the three crouched down and began extracting the eyeballs from the zombies they had each killed.
Whoever killed the zombie got its eyeballs—this was the agreed-upon rule.
A pair of eyeballs could be exchanged for a random food item. There was no room for politeness.
Zheng Ziyu had just finished digging out eyeballs from four zombies she had killed when she turned and saw that three zombie corpses around Lin Chu had vanished.
She immediately recalled the vending machine that had mysteriously disappeared the other night.
A suspicion formed in her heart. She slowly backed up toward Lin Chu, her eyes warily fixed on Yu Hongfei nearby.
From the moment Lin Chu began collecting corpses, she had kept her attention on Zheng Ziyu.
Yu Hongfei already knew she had gotten a spatial backpack from Ma Yan.
Lin Chu wasn’t naive enough to trust someone fully just because they’d shown kindness a few times.
Still, since Yu Hongfei hadn’t shown any intent to rob or kill for loot, he probably wouldn’t act rashly before their current transaction was complete.
As for collecting corpses and materials into the spatial backpack, she wasn’t just doing it for herself—the spoils would be shared among the three of them.
Even if Yu Hongfei had designs on the space, he wouldn’t make a move now.
But when it came to Zheng Ziyu… Lin Chu wasn’t so sure.
Though Zheng Ziyu had shown trust toward her multiple times, wealth could stir desire—who could say for sure how many would stay true in the face of real gain?
It’s often said that troubled times reveal a person’s true nature—the mirror that shows the demon within.
If Zheng Ziyu…
Lin Chu clutched a reddish-brown rusted knife in her left palm, lowering her gaze but never shifting her focus from Zheng Ziyu.
Tetanus blades couldn’t kill instantly, but they could be potent tools for control.
Zheng Ziyu stopped just one step in front of Lin Chu.
Yu Hongfei turned and saw the two women standing close. Thinking they were discussing something, he immediately got up, gathered his eyeballs, and was about to walk over.
But just as he lifted his foot, Zheng Ziyu shouted at him in a low voice:
“Stay there. Don’t come any closer!”
Yu Hongfei froze, bewildered, standing in place. He looked at Zheng Ziyu, then at Lin Chu.
He hadn’t done anything—why was she suddenly yelling at him?
Lin Chu looked at Zheng Ziyu standing in front of her, back straight and proud.
She looked fierce, but being just one step away from Lin Chu, it was clear her body was trembling slightly.
Was she…
Protecting her from Yu Hongfei?
A cool voice broke the tense silence.
“You two go in first. I’ll finish up here and come in shortly.”
Both of them were stunned.
Yu Hongfei understood that Lin Chu wanted to use her spatial ability to collect zombie corpses. Asking them to go ahead meant she wanted him to keep an eye on the twin-tailed girl—don’t expose the space.
Zheng Ziyu’s eyes lit up slightly too—this was her chance to prove her value. She had to keep the big guy distracted so Lin Chu could work freely.
“We’ll go in first and check if there are any zombies inside.”
“Chu Chu, we’ll head in. Be careful.”
Though they had their own agendas, their goals were the same: to watch each other closely and prevent any sudden moves.
Soon, Lin Chu finished clearing the corpses and stepped into the delivery station to join the two.
The delivery station was a small, stand-alone building.
It leaned against the park’s fence in the northwest corner.
It wasn’t very big—just over ten square meters.
There was only one set of double doors and a rolling shutter. When the zombie outbreak hit, the doors had only been halfway closed—the other side still open.
Zombies had occasionally wandered in.
But having heard the fighting outside earlier, any zombies inside had already charged out and been killed.
Now, only the bloodstains on the concrete floor and the white walls showed signs that zombies had once been there.
Yu Hongfei and Zheng Ziyu, who had entered first, weren’t busy searching for supplies—they were too busy watching each other.
Only when they heard Lin Chu’s footsteps at the door did they turn around together.
“There are no zombies in here,” Yu Hongfei was the first to report.
Lin Chu nodded and swept her gaze across the room.
There were still quite a few undelivered parcels stacked on the shelves.
At a glance, there were at least several hundred packages, in various sizes.
